The book may seem like a fairy tale, but it is far from it. It is a great novel of three sisters who are different from each other but who share a very strong bond, they are of superior beauty but also hide unusual powers from another world.
I read it in less than three days, and that with other activities in between, and I honestly loved it. It is a different book and it has a plant aesthetic that draws a lot of attention. Definitely a book to read.
This YA mystery novel will keep you guessing until the last word. I heavily enjoyed reading it! It was the perfect mix of fantasy and mystery that allows you to dig into a new world.
Talk about twisty, sideways, stunning plot turns! I adored this book in all it's horror glory! A stunning narrative on the power of sisterhood, the power of memories, and the horrors that our loved ones carry.
House Of Hollow had me checking behind doors and staying up at night replaying the story in my head!
This was a great book, well written and I enjoyed the story and character iine.
thank you for the advanced copy in exchange for a fair review.
This book was absolutely phenomenal! I was hooked right from the deliciously dark prologue to the brilliant ending. The imagery in House of Hollow was phenomenal, and it was suspenseful and well-paced, with an intriguing mystery. While I did guess one aspect of the twist, it did not have a negative effect on my enjoyment. Loved this exquisite YA fairytale-esque horror read.

Ten years ago, on New Year's Day, the three Hollow disappeared while on holiday and reappeared a month later. Iris, Vivi, and Grey Hollow can't remember anything from that time. Their once dark hair has turned white, their blue eyes became black, and each had an identical hook-shaped scars on their necks. Their parents were elated, but their father soon began to believe that they were not really his daughters. Since then, their story has been a hot topic among online sleuths. Their ethereal beauty and uncanny ability to bend people to their wills and intoxicate them with dangerous desire add to their mystique. When Grey Iris, Vivi, and Grey’s boyfriend, Tyler, set out to find her. Their search takes on a new urgency when they find a decomposing body in Grey’s apartment, Soon, they are pursued by a murderous man wearing a horned bull’s skull mask who reeks like death. As they search for Grey, more and more of what happened during the missing month comes to light. Can The trio save Grey? What really happened during the missing month? who is the man in the bull's skull mask? The plot is fast-paced with elements of folklore and horror. The characters are mysterious and engaging. The shocking twist in the book will throw readers for a loop. Fans of mystery, fantasy, folklore, and thrillers will enjoy reading this book.
Nothing good happens when the Hollow sisters are around. The three girls got kidnapped right under their parents’ noses one New Years Eve. A month later, they reappeared in the same spot. What happened to them? Where did they go? Ever since they came back, strange, impossible things, are happening. Their hair turns white, their eyes turn black, they all have a strange mark on their necks in the same spot. Ten years later, the unexplainable is still happening around them. Iris Hollow, the youngest of the three sisters is just trying to finish high school like a normal teen when the oldest Hollow sister, Grey, goes missing without a trace. Something about her disappearance seems eerily similar to the sisters' disappearance ten fateful years ago. Iris and her other sister, Vivi, team up to figure out what happened to Grey and hopefully answer other questions about their month-long absence.
Krystal Sutherland weaves a fantastical tale about life, death, and the in-between. What happens to people who just disappear and who comes back in their place? A creepy tale to read during October. The descriptions are certainly unsettling, but the mystery and absolute weirdness of the story will keep you interested and thinking long after you finish reading the last line. Be prepared to feel tingles down your spine from the haunting imagery. Sutherland’s world will have you wanting to explore abandoned places and the doors that used to lead somewhere, but now lead somewhere else.
I was absorbed by this twisted dark unputdownable fairytale . The Hollow sisters went missing for a month then return with no recollection. They return with different hair color and eyes making their dad suspicious . Ten years later one of them goes missing , she dies leave clues to help the other two sisters find her. This is such an atmospheric supernatural -ish engaging read.
This book reads like a fever dream. It is dark and edgy and keeps you guessing up until the last minute. Its premise is a modern fairytale set in England. Three sister go missing but then end up being found where they left...just slight, off. Sometimes as a reader I would be engaged but then found I was asking myself what on earth I was reading. It was so odd, but still engaging but nothing like my usual reads. The imagery is seriously grotesque and graphic while still staying true to that YA horror vibe. Overall I can't talk about it too much without giving it away but it was fun. Not something I will go back to and read but thats usually my opinion of most thrillers once the shock is gone.

This book was perfect for the Halloween season.
The Hollow sisters. When they were young, they disappeared and were found a month later- unharmed but not knowing what happened to them. Then one day, they woke up with white hair and black eyes and an uncanny ability.
This was a supernatural story. It's creepy at times. But at the base... It's a story of sisters. Their bond that is impossible to break. It's full of tragedy but they stick through it together. The end probably 15% is what made the book for me!
This book was perfectly creepy in all the right ways! I was so pulled in and had to know what was going to happen next.
I really enjoyed the bond between the sisters and how they tried to be there for each other no matter what.
The book deals with some dark themes so be prepared for that but its a YA horror so it makes sense. It was very descriptive and really set the scene. I had an inkling about how I thought it was going to end but was still blown away by where it went.
House of Hollow is damn fantastic. A story with a gorgeous, gothic atmosphere and almost poetic storytelling, it focuses on the undeniable connection between three sisters. Each sister is starkly different, mesmerising in character in their own ways. Even the eldest sister, who is largely missing throughout the story, is fleshed out in a way that leaves readers wanting to know them personally. And the familial bond is complex, flawed but powerful.
Beyond the characters, Sutherland has created a story that is mysterious and engaging. A mystery within a mystery, steeped in dark magic and eerie conclusions. While this book is dark and full of body horror and gore, it is not a horror that will keep readers up at night. Not out of fear at least.
Creepy for Halloween! Definitely recommend reading this dark fairy tale like story with all the lights on in the house. Legit I couldn’t sleep for 2 days cause my stupid brain won’t stop replaying certain scenes in my head. Beautifully gothic, equally spooky. I recommended this book to my friends and they all loved it.
House of Hollow is about three sisters who went missing when they were children, only to be returned with identical half-moon scars at their throats and charmed lives. Grey is an internationally renowned fashion designer. Vivi is a rock star. And Iris is a high school student, trying to navigate the weirdness that surrounds her. When Grey goes missing, it’s up to Iris and Vivi to find her, and find out what happened to them as children on the way.
The details in this book are written beautifully, and hauntingly. Several times while reading I just had to look up and catch my breath. I loved the girls, and the mystery surrounding Grey especially. There’s an earnestness and innocence about Iris that makes the final reveal even more jarring. And the final reveal, I mean. You don’t really get many hints except for an overwhelming “these girls ain’t right” throughout the whole book, so to find out what really happened is pretty wild.
This book is YA but I’d recommend it to anyone who likes spooky fairytale-ish scenarios. I really liked it, and it’s perfect for this time of year.
I will not be giving feedback on this book. I started it, and was not in the right mindset for reading it. When/if I do pick it up again, I will definitely leave a thoughtful review.
I LOVED this read. Iris was a great narrator and I loved the mysterious journey we went on with her. The sister have such a secretive past and are so tightly bonded. You constantly wonder what happened to them and why the are they way that they are. The storyline was fast paced, but still left time to creepily describe every scene. The combination of the beauty of flowers with rot and decay was wonderful. The ending was so satisfying and I think that everything came together so well.
This really dark creepy tale, was one of great art. The artistry in the story telling was something else. I couldn't wait to turn the page to see what twists and turns would come next. This book is about three siblings who went missing when they were children. They were gone for a month and their parents were beside themselves. When they returned home, they remembered nothing, yet they were forever changed. Now with white hair and black eyes, their father didn't believe it was them. He killed himself trying to prove it. Now Grey has gone missing again. She is found a few days later, but she's even more changed. She yells that "he is after them." He who, they do not know.
I loved everything about this creepy little book. Strange sisters and their bonds are the threads that hold this book together, but I loved all of the dark and twisty things in the corners as well.
I found this book intriguing the suspense and dark atmosphere had me hooked. It's a book that gives you fairytale vibes but the dark and twisted version. The writing was beautiful it's one of the reasons I got lost in the story from the first chapter. Plus the cover it's gorgeous.
