There always has to be one in the bunch...and that one, is this one.
What does that mean?
Well, it’s when you are a fangirl of the author’s, and have been for awhile, and then come across a book that finds itself in that weird grey, hazy place of being “just okay” It’s that place where the likes and dislikes simply balance each other out and it’s just there.

Unfortunately, that’s where The Wedding Game landed for me. I liked it, but didn’t love it like I had hoped I would.

As for Alec and Luna. I adored Alec, I have a full on thing for those males who are a little broken, a little damaged, a little cold ~ even with those they love the most ~ but have a truly golden heart despite it all and that was Alec for me throughout the book. Luna was a mixed bag for me. I loved her vivaciousness, her desire to make those she loves happy, and her tendency to babble, but she didn’t always know when to stop and that sometimes had me growling.

Their journey to their HEA was filled with all kinds of crazy, OTT, snort/laugh, eye rolling, growling in frustration moments. It was fun to watch as they went from competitors to more and their bantering was a lot of fun, the chemistry was and it was easy for me to see how they could be more if given the chance to and then the bomb was dropped. While there was culpability on both sides, and I did understand all of the reactions, I really did, I ended up being pissed at everyone but Alec. I wasn’t expecting to be 200% Team Alec when everything went down, but the aftermath...yeah, I’m still growling over it. And though I am happy that Alec and Luna worked things out, I am still indigent on Alec’s behalf and really think there should have been more groveling from a few people.

There is a weird feeling I get when I come across a book from an author that I fangirl over and it falls into the “like” category, it doesn’t happen often and this is the first time it’s happened with this author. Things started out great, loved the premise, thought the supporting cast of characters were quite unique ~ Thaddeus (OMG, but I do love that name so bonus points there) ~ but something shifted and I wasn’t as all in as I wanted to be, so putting the book down wasn’t all that difficult. Add in my reaction to the fallout from the bomb being dropped on Alec and Luna’s relationship and yeah, this book fell into the like category. It’s a total “it’s not you, it’s me” thing, but still sucks. With that said, I am hoping that Lucas gets his own HEA because he rocked and I wouldn’t mind seeing Farrah getting more chances to poke a person with a broom.

The Wedding Game is a Montlake release from Meghan Quinn and therefore a little lighter in terms of premise compared to Meghan's indie published books. I loved the idea of The Wedding Game, set around a craft TV show where contestants have to create and get crafty for a family members wedding, it sure brings in some hilarious scenes.

In terms of the romance the Hero is Alec a divorce lawyer and brother to another contestant that is getting married to his pregnant fiancé. He is trying desperately to reconnect with his little brother that used to idolise him after they drifted apart years earlier. Alec comes across as a grumpy, uninterested guy to start with but as the book progresses you come to understand that it's all a façade for a man somewhat broken himself. As he opens up we see a whole other side to him and I loved the transformation of his character throughout.

Luna is a craft queen herself trying to win the wedding for her brother Cohen and his fiancée. Luna is an over enthusiastic woman but her love of crafting is what softens her to Alec when she agrees to help him practice his skills and a relationship blossoms from there.

The Wedding Game is definitely a slow burn romance and has the elements you know and love about a Meghan Quinn book. What made it lighter/more fluffy for me was the focus on the familial bonds between the characters. The romance between Hero and heroine took a backseat at times. I loved both aspects of the story and I found myself swooning, laughing and cringing a plenty as I read through the book. As always there was a great breakup moment and boy did my heart break for Alec he really got the rough end of the deal, I felt so bad for him when it all fell apart. but seeing him figure out how to fic his relationship with his brother and Luna was worth the heart ache.

Another solid read from Meghan for me sitting pretty in her comfort zone.

The Wedding Game was another fun story from Meghan Quinn, full of laughter and lots of emotion!

Luna and Alec are rival competitors on a reality game show start, who get off on the absolute wrong foot, start out somewhat as enemies, then become friends, and ultimately fall in love. Alec really needed someone like Luna in his life, to open his eyes to the possibility of love. He had his brother Thad, but their relationship was already a bit rocky. But seeing all the goodness in Luna, and the relationship she had with her brother – he realized he needed that in his life.

Since they were hiding their relationship from everyone, you knew it would eventually blow up in their faces…..and when it did, oh boy did my heart hurt for both of them. It would take a little bit of time and effort – and some help from those closest to them – to realize that they were both in love with the other and shouldn’t be apart anymore.

Now......can we get a book for Farrah and Lucas??

This was a great read that had me laughing from page one to the end. I loved Luna and Alec's story as it was a funny and most unexpected read.

This story was based around a reality show competition with a wedding theme. Both Alec and Luna are competing against each other to make the wedding dreams of their siblings come true. Reading the competition challenges had me LOL throughout as I could picture all of the antics that took place that they faced. The antics that took place throughout this book was easy to picture and at times relate to. I enjoyed watching the characters evolve and grow while the story progressed.

The supporting characters of this story were just as amazing and funny - Thad with his over the top dramatics, Naomi and her understanding nature and clear headed one in her relationship with Thad, Cohen and his protective nature and clear love for his sister Luna, Declan and his love for Cohen and his supportiveness of Cohen, Farrah for just being the bestest of best friends that one could have and Lucas for being the one to center Alec during crisis. At times, I think that they made the story that much better.

Overall, this was a great read that I enjoyed from page one. I had a hard time putting this book down to do the dreaded real life things that one must do but I could not wait to be able to pick this great read back up. I recommend this book to others.

Meghan Quinn never ceases to amaze me but The Wedding Game brought it to a completely different level.

Although this story is told from the POV of Luna and Alec as they meet and fall in love throughout the story what this is really about is love, love between siblings, friends, parents, and significant others, all forms and depths of love given and love that’s shown to us.

Meghan Quinn is the Queen of quirky characters. The Wedding Game has an array of quirky characters and I LOVED them the way she brings these characters to life on the pages and makes them so easy to relate to shows the magnitude of her writing skills.

Luna was her own brand of quirky crafter, a woman of many talents and master of them all. She had a nurturing soul and a personality that was like a ball of sunshine bringing light to even the darkest of hearts. She had an extraordinary close relationship with her brother that plucked at a part of my soul since I share a very similar closeness with my sister. The love she has for her brother and her need to make sure everyone she loves is happy is the reason her brother and his fiance end up being contestants on The Wedding Game.

Alec is almost the opposite of Luna in every way. He’s not a believer in love or in happily ever afters and he doesn’t really do the whole “emotions” thing. His brother comes to him with a question that is immediately shut down but along with Thad’s outrageously quirky antics he’s also a master of using a touch of emotional manipulation to persuade Alec into joining him and his fiance on the wedding game.

Luna and Alec don’t start off on the right foot and yet you can still feel the sizzle of chemistry between them. Although they are vastly different in many ways the love they have for their brothers and wanting to make them happy is what brings them together.

It’s a touch of a slow burn as they get to know one another on a deeper level and with every interaction side glance that sizzle begins to shoot out sparks. Luna’s personality and the light she has surrounding her begins to seep into Alec’s heart and he begins reevaluating everything he thought he knew.

I thought I knew what to expect going into The Wedding Game as I have been an avid reader of Meghan Quinn’s books for years but this was immeasurably more than anything I could have imagined.

A story that will not only consume your mind but also your heart. A unique and breathtaking storyline, sensationally written witty banter, quirky characters, laughs. giggles, feels galore, and an authentic view of all different forms of love and how they shape us into the people we are and sometimes the people we want to be.

I received a copy of this book with thanks to Netgalley and Montlake voluntarily, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Wedding Game is a standalone romance. What a cute story! I love LOL books. It leaves people staring at you. By people, I mean my family!

I wasn’t sure what Meghan Quinn meant with the title of this book but it was simply a game involving building the best wedding for the winner. There are 3 couples plus their helper. Luna Rossi already has her hand in being a wedding expert. Alec Baxter is a “jaded divorce lawyer” whose brother Thaddeus Baxter wants Alec to help him when he enters The Wedding Game. Luna Rossi enters her brother and his significant other into the game. The third couple is Team Hernandez.

I loved Luna. She is cute, sassy, thoughtful, considerate, sweet and sexy. Alec is funny, witty, and Chris Evans look alike!

Of course Meghan Quinn gets in her text messages. She is a master with conversation while texting.

I love reading Meghan Quinn’s books. She makes her books fun to read because you never know what to expect except a book full of personality. Simply said I loved The Wedding Game!

This is a enemies to lovers, or more accurately a haters to lovers romance. Saying he did not give the best first impression is an understatement. She pretty much loathed him from the beginning, though she is the kind of person who looks deeper and see's what's under the hard exterior, and he didn't hide himself from her and allowed her to see him for the person behind the mask. This book is filled with laughter and some chaos. There are many supporting characters who bring something extra to the story. While there is that huge breakup scene (that this author loves to torture the characters with,) it's a little different in this book. It wasn't so much because something that one did to the other, but several things happening to both that came to a head and caused major destruction. There was really no 'bad guy' in that situation. Neither meant to hurt the other, so when everything went downhill, you felt sympathy for both. Of course things worked out in the end, as this does have that HEA. It alternates between POVs. There is a lot of sexual content, both in the act and talk of... suitable for mature readers. It is a fun, light-hearted read, though there is some heavier content in regards to the characters background. It reads quickly and easily, and is an overall enjoyable read.

*I received an ARC of this from Netgalley.

I laughed like crazy while I was reading Meghan Quinn’s latest romantic comedy, “The Marriage Game.” Luna’s creative exuberance won me over and it made me want to take up a new craft! I love the bond she has with her brother and how she just wants to make his life easier. Ms. Quinn always comes up with the perfect storyline to make us laugh and the premise of her latest book is hilarious. The contestants couldn't have been better and the witty banter between them along with their frantic racing around during the competition had me laughing and cheering for my favorite couple. I enjoyed watching the couples as they designed the wedding of their dreams from invitations to the wedding cake.

I loved Thad’s excitement for the abundance of crafting supplies and it made me revel in his happiness. Even Alec, the Chris Evans clone, began to drop his mask of disdain when he realized his brother desperately wanted to win the contest. Thad yearns to have his brother back as his best friend, regretting that they have grown apart, and he hoped the reality show was the perfect way to rekindle their relationship. Alec wasn’t thrilled about being on TV, but he would do anything for his brother. Throughout the book our couples learned that working together and creating what was truly in your heart was the only way to play the game.

I have no words to describe how amazing I think Meghans work is. I absolutely loved this story. Meghan always manages to bring humour, romance and a bit of heartbreak together in perfect harmony. I adored the characters in this one.
Luna and Alec find themselves as rivals on a wedding show where they are helping their family members to create the perfect wedding and hopefully win a new house. Alec isn't too keen on the idea of being on telly but caves as he is trying to rebuild a relationship with his brother. Luna is a bit of a fixer and wants to win for her brother. She wants to show him that he doesn't have to hide his love and try to bring him out of himself.
To say that Luna and Alec get off on the wrong foot is a huge understatement and their encounters just get funnier and funnier as the contest goes on. I really enjoyed how it all came together. Meghan brought some real heart in your throat heartbreak into this story and I drank it in.
She does such a brilliant job with her side characters I especially loved Lunas roommate she was awesome.
If your after a good rom com then pick this up immediately

The Wedding Game is rom com perfection! Its also a story of family connections and the bind that holds them.
Honestly I couldn’t put it down and was laughing more times than I could count.
It was fun, lighthearted, had some outrageous banter and the characters, well lets just say highly entertaining/ comedic relief perhaps ?!!!
This book was so much more and then some.
The snarky banter is so on point that I found myself snort laughing! Then you have secrets being kept and when loyalty suffers so do relationships. The raw emotions in this story had a profound effect on me and I just had to read till I finished.
The Wedding Game is a definite winner and a favourite read for 2021. I bow down to the sheer brilliance Ms Quinn has captured in this unique storyline.

4.5🌟

Looking for something that’s different than Meghan Quinn’s norm but still totally Meghan Quinn’s laugh out loud humor? Grab this story!

The book was a little slow going for me at first but once it sinks into you... lemme just say... you’ll be a goner too!! I loved these characters. They all had their own uniqueness about them that gave them a few quirks but made them more real to me.

I absolutely adored Alec. He’s on my top list of favorite book boyfriends. This tough exterior divorce lawyer who doesn’t believe in love is shot through the heart with Cupid’s arrow when it comes to Luna Rossi.
Luna was a strong, independent character that was shown throughout the book. Her bold personality was what made her special and made you love her.

And of course the corniness between Alec and Luna. Freaking GOLD! Chapter 14, you had me howling at my desk during my lunch break. The snark that came out of those two. Man!

I can’t gush enough about how much I loved this book. I’m also a bit of a nerd and love game shows too, so this was a novel that wasn’t lacking any check marks on my list! Read. This. Book. Now!

4.5🌟’s.

This was a change of pace from MQ that I found quite refreshing, a little slower but the same mastery. Of course there is her classic and hilarious humor which I would miss if it’s not in her books, but it does have a more contemporary romance ambiance to it. I found myself snorting at certain parts but also teary in others, which I feel makes for a good tale. I was fascinated with this book the first time I read the blurb and it was as fun to read as I was expecting. Three couples compete over the summer to obtain not only the wedding of their dreams but also a Manhattan penthouse, each as worthy as the others to win. Luna is helping her brother and his groom to fulfill a wedding dream as is Alec for his own brother, Thad. They weren’t meant to spend time together, being on opposite teams, but the attraction was too great. Only, will their families be happy for them?
Luna and Alec had great banter and the connection was strong from the beginning. Luna is a caring soul who gets joy out of helping others. Alec was a little lost, and his vulnerability was heart-rending and tender. I just wanted to hug him too to make him feel better. I’m a big fan of an epilogue, and I loved how Alec achieved being in a loving family but I hope there is additional content to come with another book as I want more from this couple and how their life plays out even further.

Mrs Meghan went and did that.

A sweet, swoon worthy, hilariously relatable romance with all the feel good feels. The Wedding Game brings us the perfect blend of romance and comedy without taking away from the very real raw rollercoaster of emotions that Luna and Alec experience throughout their journey.

Luna is so many things.. she's crazy talented, she's hard working and she's so smart. But the best thing about Luna is just how sweet she is. Her loyalty and support towards her brother is honestly my absolute favourite thing. At one point I was tearing up wishing I had a sister like her. Her priorities, the protectiveness and her need to give him the wedding he deserved, that he himself would be proud of... sigh. She's just a beautiful fictional human.

Alec our cranky broken hero stole my heart. This man hurt my soul with his hurt. At first I felt mixed about the whole situation because I felt for both him and his brother Thaddeus and I could see both points of view. However... as the story progressed I went straight to the Alec train. I feel like he got more shit than he deserved and kept taking it because he felt guilty when in reality he was a victim of his past too. I loved his moody side, I adored how sweet he was with Luna and the whole situation and man the funny side of him?.. straight up soul snatched me I swear. The man is lethal.

The characters.. oh the side characters of it all. I do love me some entertaining big personalities that draw me in and I got that and then some here. Firstly ... Lunas fierce best friend Farrah. That girl had me in tears laughing so freaking hard. I want her book and I want to know the man that's going to tame her because she's a beast of a personality and I FREAKING LOVE HER FOR IT. Of course next has to be Thaddeus the most dramatic flamboyant side character ever. He's larger than life in your face and as sweet as can be and I just loved his love for his brother. What a sweetheart, even if he is a tad bit of a groomzilla. His wife deserves a medal for loving him and his crazy antics. I love them all, all the side characters fit perfectly into Luna and Alec's story and blessed us with so much personality it was bursting from the pages.

Luna and Alec had a very rocky start and frankly cracked me up with all the bickering and competitiveness but that animosity quickly turned into something a little spicer and so the line between love and hate got real blurry real quick. I just loved them together because they really did bring out the best in eachother in the sweetest ways. The chemistry was always there but the way their connection slowly grew and evolved into this sweet trusting relationship had me swooning like crazy. Their journey isn't traditional by any means and that's what made it so freaking special. I loved the whole concept of this story and the plot progression. I feel like it flowed seamlessly from one page to the next without rushing or going into too much detail. The characters are larger then life and all hold their own in here giving you so much depth and personality I was in heaven. It's a whole damn vibe.

There wasn't anything I disliked. I laughed, cried... cried whilst laughing. I ranted, raved and swooned at the crazy, dysfunctional and the sweet. It's just a well rounded morish book with the most perfect ending to a eventful story.

Luna would do absolutely anything for the brother she loved. Seeing his happiness at the possibility of winning a chance of a lifetime should override her stubborn brother. When would this chance come again?! Never! Everything was so close to her battered fingertips and the ultimate prize would bedazzle the most jaded soul. This book will make you laugh the entire way through. Meghan Quinn will craft her way into your heart.

’m a sucker for the banter between characters! I absolutely love it! I live for it. And boy this book has it in spades. I absolutely adore Luna and Alec. I love their personalities and their stories. This was a very quick read, but worth every second of you want some chuckles.
