Not really for the layperson. While majority of it was above my head, there were some keen takeaways. I could see this book as part of a course or some type of group where someone could help readers unpack text.
I felt as if many points were belabored and explanations could have been more concise. It read as if it were a text book as opposed to a general public non-fiction title. Quite a bit of information pertained to CTIP facilitators specifically.
This went way over my head. There were few explanations or background for people who aren't already deeply familiar with the terminology of psychology and trauma. I could only understand a few of the essays, all of which I enjoyed and found very thoughtful. This is not a general audience book.
“Healing Collective Trauma” will become a seminal text in the field of trauma work. The expertise, stories, research, passion, and practical pathways moving forward, in regards to communal trauma, makes this book an invaluable resource for any clinician and educator’s library. I will be chewing on the book’s insights for a long time to come!
