I grew up in a rural area. Farming is still pretty active where I live, so seeing tractors is common for me. No matter how many new features are added to the latest models, I still like the looks and stories behind the old tractors. The Field Guide to Classic Farm Tractors is a collection of tractors from the past. I knew of the main brands, but there are so many more that I had not even heard of.
The book is broken down into brands, with information about the brand’s history and highlights of select models. Seeing how designs differed from one brand to another, and how they have changed over the years, was very interesting. Looking through the pages brought to mind stories I heard growing up from people who used the older tractors.
Anyone with even a passing interest in tractors can find something in this book. If you grew up on a farm, the book can bring back the memories of stories told about early tractors.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Stroll down memory lane anyone? I wanted a look at this since my father owned the tractor on the cover and it reminded me of him. Personally just looking at that tractor brings back fond memories!
What did I like? The Ford 9n was one of the best tractors made. My father was a jack of all trades and I can remember countless hours riding on this tractor. He had absolutely no issues fixing this thing despite it breaking down and being way old. This was a fun guide through various sorts of tractors but my main goal was to identify and maybe locate one like my dad had.
Would I recommend or buy? Antiques never go out of style and this book identifies some treasure! I’d like to thank the author for a peek and congratulations on such a great idea. If your out shopping for an antique tractor then this is a helpful guide for some great information.
I received a copy to look at and voluntarily left an opinion.
