‘ I often find comfort in the thought that fate has already drawn a path beyond what seems impossible.” ― Brigid Kemmerer, A Vow So Bold and Deadly
Fun series!
This series started out a lil shaky with the first book, but has ended up being very enjoyable. Still not a big fan of the Rhen/Harper dynamic, but it was tolerable. Grey was by far my favorite character & I enjoyed watching him grow as the story progressed. Really wish more time had been devoted to the ending.
I think if I had not been able to read these books back-to-back I really doubt I would’ve stuck with it til the end. I did end up enjoying this series a lot more than I thought I would. 4 stars.
Loved it!
I thought this was a good end to the series. Lots of action. Enjoyed multiple narrators, it definitely helps keep the pace up.
Another amazing series!! I loved this conclusion to the Cursebreakers series by Kemmerer. She has done so fabulous with this story that is a wonderful blend of her contemporary stories with the added element of fantasy. Its the perfect blend of both. I can not wait to see what else she comes out with. This one was a great ending to this beautiful series. I loved how everything wrapped up and I can not wait for more.
I absolutely loved this series. Such a fun cast of characters and non stop action. Thank you so much to Netgalley for sending a copy in exchange for an honest review.
This excerpt for the final installment of the Cursebreakers trilogy was phenomenal and builds up the excitement for readers of what is yet to come with little to none spoilers! I was at the edge of my seat and I cannot wait to finally get my hands on the actual book once I get time to get through my Fall 2021 TBR! Brigid Kemmerer has crafted a beautifully written world that has yet to be discovered (*fingers crossed for more books*) and brought to life memorable characters and gorgeous fictional boyfriends that are beyond swoon worthy!
This book was not my favourite of the three. I usually love the third book because there is a full circle ending, but I didn't like where the plot ended. The characters were argumentative almost till the very end and the story didn't end with the characters getting the finish the deserved.
I didn't like the third book really at all. I felt like the characters had not really changed that much or grown in any way. And the ending left me with more questions. Not one of my favourite YA series but it was good enough that I wanted to see what happened.
My Personal Review: I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I loved the first book in the series, but book 2 changed the characters. I was hoping things would get back on track. I have to say I did not like how this book or trilogy was wrapped up. I did not like Lia Mara. Rhen and Grey were nothing like they were in the first book. They seemed to be an after thought. I was hoping for more from this series.
After finally reading the first two books, I got a chance to read this expert for the third one and I'm....meh. I feel like it should have been a standalone, but I still want to finish the series at least! The expert has made me a bit worried about what's going to happen with Rhen and Harper, and I'm not thrilled with the storyline with Gray. I'm hoping Brigid Kemmerer will prove me wrong and I'll really enjoy this one, though!
I really enjoyed this preview. I cannot wait to read the full book and find out how the trilogy ends. I liked the pacing of the chapters we got and the plot lines.
This excerpt definitely got me even more excited to continue with this series. I bought the book and will be reading it soon!
This was just a sample of the whole book.. Bought the book in the end. Wonderful retelling, imaginative and poignant.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book was different to my normal reads but it had everything. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would hughly recoment it. The magic in this book will make you never want to leave.
I loved this book just as much as I knew I would. Definitely an anticipated read for me. A page turning book that I just couldn't put down!
A great excerpt! Cannot wait to get hold of the book itself and read what looks to be an incredible finale!
3.5/5 rounded up to 4
A Vow So Bold and Deadly, the final book in the Cursebreakers Series continues right where the last book left off. Though it hasn't been that long since I read the last two books my memories were refreshed in a non info dumping way.
Like the previous books this is told from a number of different POVs - Harper, Grey, Rhen and Lia Mara. While it was nice to get the different perspectives it did take time and I found my attention waning with the back and forth and very little in the way of action.
I'm not sure that I can totally fault the book for my feelings. Since covid hit I have been craving faster paced stories, ones with more mystery and suspense. This was a slower paced story that did pick up speed for the last 1/3, thank goodness! The ending was fitting but nothing spectacular.
When put together as the whole series I really did enjoy it, especially the first two books.
After the amazing first two books in the series, I was so excited for this book. Unfortunately, it just didn’t meet my expectations. It felt like it went at snail speed until the very end, and then it just left us with these relationships that were so disappointing after the hype built from the first two books.
Thanks to Netgalley for an ebook copy in exchange for an honest review!
As much as I loved and breezed through the first two novels in this trilogy, this last book lacked a little something I couldn't quite pin down. Perhaps it's due to the high amount of hype that surrounded the series. The conflict and resolution all together in the story felt like a big build up to nothing and then the book is over before you know it. I still love the characters so much. All the feels for Grey!! It was just a great series that had a lack luster finale in my honest opinion.
Would for sure still recommend it to be read though!
I originally thought that this was the full book, so I was disappointed when it was not. However, I have since read the full book and it was a redemption back to the greatness of book 1. Kemmerer writes magic and friendships in ways that few can. Excited to see what we get next from her!
This just didn’t work for me given the events in the last book. It felt like the characters were completely different and the ack of insight into their POVs made the characters feel flat where before they felt more layered with depth and internal conflicts. The magic system also seemed a bit confusing and the multiple plot elements made the story feel overwhelming.
I did like the growth given to Grey, but it seemed to come at the cost of the previous development given to the other MCs. The main plot conflict also seemed to have a rushed resolution.
