This is my first book by this author and it was very enjoyable. It is third in a series, which I hadn't realised when I started reading it, but can be read as a standalone. I did pick up that a couple of story arcs that involved relationships were obviously a continuation from the previous books, but I was able to glean enough information to have a pretty good idea of how things stood.
The mystery was good and not as straightforward as I first thought. It kept me guessing because each time I thought I'd figured something out, another layer would be revealed.
I loved all the food references. The recipe at the back sounds divine and I may even give it a crack! This was a lighthearted and cosy read and I enjoyed how it all wrapped up at the end.
This is the 3rd installment in the Nosey Parker mystery series. Jodie (Nosey) Parker is back home in Penstowan Cornwall England and there is a movie being filmed at a local manor house. Jodie along with her friends all sign up to be extras on the movie. The movie is a period fantasy and both Tony and Debbie are aristocracy and Jodie is a maid and the costume is itchy so not a great day so far and then everything is on hold as one of the leads Faith cannot get out of her trailer. Jodie of course is nosey and decides to go see what is up and convinces Tony to go thru the trailer window and bust down the door which he does and soon he is a hero to the much older Faith. Jodie is a little jealous of all the attention Faith is giving him but puts that aside. As she is leaving that day she almost runs over the young lead actor Zac as he is walking his co-star Kimi’s little dog. Jodie and Zac have a nice chat as she helps him with the dog and she knows her daughter Daisy is going to be excited that she met Zac. The next day the young lead Kimi loses her dog and the dog ends up in the middle of a pond and once again and again Tony plays the hero (making an exit out of the pond similar to Colin Firth’s Mr. Darcy). Jodie can’t help but notice Tony’s 6 pack and is getting really confused about her feelings for him. She has feelings for Nathan (DCI Withers). Next the caterer Gino falls thru a step out of the motorhome and is out of commission. Jodie gladly turns in her housemaid costume to become the temporary caterer. The cast and crew are beginning to think the set and movie is cursed but Jodie is convinced that these were no accidents. Zac was to have Gino help him with a dinner party for Kimi and her sister Aiko (who Zac likes) but he needs Jodie’s help. Zac has a Japanese style dinner planned with a fish that can be toxic if not properly prepared. At the dinner party one of the actors Jeremy collapses and dies. Nathan had just come out to see Jodie when they both hear the screams and arrive at Zac’s trailer. All of the other actors are taken to the hospital as the fish toxin is the suspected culprit. Fortunately, no one else dies so the game is on to figure out what happened as Jodie saw Zac prepare the fish so she is shocked if that is the answer. This was a good solid mystery as Nathan and Jodie ultimately figure out that this was not some cooking accident but indeed murder and they get the culprit. Jodie also resolves her feelings for Tony and Nathan and there is no longer a love triangle. I really enjoyed this story and was a quick read that kept me engaged the whole time. I am looking forward to the next installment.
This series is so easy to read, full of humour, family antics, murder-mystery and romance.
Set at a film location close to the village. All the villagers want to be extras. The plot is full of mysterious twists which need Josie's intuition and investigative skills. There are lots of humorous moments and some serious ones too.
There are plenty of romantic possibilities in this story, but the plot keeps you guessing and turning the pages. Whilst this story has a fabulous finale worthy of the film world. I am hoping that there will be more books in this engaging cosy mystery series.
I received a copy of this book from One More Chapter via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
A delightful cozy mystery with appealing characters and a backstage look at life on a movie set. Jodie, our heroine, who is a caterer with no immediate job, gets an opportunity to be a well paid extra on a movie set. While on set, there are a series of small sabotage incidents which lead to the final one - the murder of a member of the cast. Jodie, who is a former police officer, helps to uncover the solution to the crimes while dealing with turmoil in her love life as well as the stress of being the mother of a teen aged daughter. She is an admirable woman and I hope to see more of her adventures in the future. I highly recommend this book.
What a fabulous read this is, the third in the cozy mystery series written. by Fiona Leitch and staring the completely entertaining Jodie ‘Nosey’ Parker.
In this outing Jodie and many of the other locals are involved with a film which is being shot locally. Many of the locals have secured small roles however Jodie is dressed as a serving maid in a sackcloth and decides that the food truck is for her, especially as it’s owner has befallen one of many ‘cursed’ accidents that have occurred on and around the set.
As usual with Jodie and her partner in crime DI Nathan Withers a murder occurs that they need to solve among the intrigue of the cast and crew.
There are many laugh out loud moments and we finally get to see if Jodie is destined to be with best friend Tony or the handsome DI.
The book is easy to read and the story is well written. Although this is a series it could be read as a standalone although as all the books are great and the characters build from one to another then I would highly recommend starting at the first and reading them all.
I particularly the way that the author adds a recipe to the end of the book. In this instance as Jodie has been cooking Japanese food it is a Japanese recipe, where she adds some funny personal asides about the search for matcha powder.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
The third Nosey Parker book was a real feel good, welcome read for me. It brought me back into Jodie’s world in her little Cornwall town and it was like getting caught up with a friend! For those that missed the first two books, Jodie is an ex police officer come home to live with her daughter in her childhood town and start fresh with a catering business.
In this instalment, there is a big film production happening nearby and all of Jodie’s family and friends have been cast as extras (thankfully because I love them all) and of course, accidents and murders seem to follow Jodie. Will she solve the mystery? Will she finally pick one of the men in her life? (I know I have my favourite so had fingers crossed)
If you have been wanting to try a cozy, I would highly recommend this series, I love Fiona Leitch’s ability to make me feel like I know these characters and to make my laugh out loud! (I would request even more Shirley next time, love that woman!) speaking of which.. when is book 4 coming out?? I will need my Nosey Parker fix! 🧁
Another favorite by a great author. The plot of the story was very well written. The author really draws the reader in as you read. Great story!
Oh my goodness!! Be still my beating heart!! I would say this is another great instalment in the 'nosy' Parker series, but this book is more than that. It's probably the best book in the series; so slyly clever, yet seemingly 'Midsomer' innocolous. Fiona Leitch gets better and better; her characters sing, her plots are fabulous and the recipient are amazing lol. I can honestly see this as a Sunday night TV series. I desperately hope there are many more books to come.
Another excellent novel from Fiona. I’m delighted to now be a follower of her books - they are light hearted and beautifully written with exciting plots. Jodie provides a catering service for a film production company, but finds herself using her previous police experience helping local police to solve incidents that occur on set, whilst getting romantically involved.

A Sprinkle of Sabotage is the third book in the The Nosey Parker Mysteries series by Fiona Leitch. It can easily be read as a standalone book. You can easily jump into this book without reading the first two books.
This book was so much fun to read!!!! I love the characters. (They feel like the could be real people. Like, I want to move there and hang out with them. ) The author has created such deep personalities for them! Jodie is awesome. She's a great mom, daughter, and friend, who gives back with all she has! Plus, she's funny and snarky!
The mystery in this book was incredible! It felt like peeling back layers on an onion! So good!
Overall, I absolutely loved this book and I can't wait to read the next one!!! (Please let there be a new book soon!) If you love cozy mysteries, you must read these books!
I'm so grateful to Fiona Leitch, HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.
A great cosy mystery book with a sense of humour.
Jodie an ex policewoman moved to a small Cornish village for a quiet life with her 12yr old daughter and takes up catering. Then a film crew comes to the village and the whole village wants to be extra`s including Jodie`s mam and daughter.
Then things start happening, is it pranks, serious or a curse? Then after a birthday meal with the main actors one dies others are sick, is it accidental food poisoning or murder.
In comes. DCI Nathan Withers who Jodie has strong feeling for but is it recuperated?
Great characters especially Jodie who`s life unfolds on the way.
Good recipes included
This is the third in the series but can be read alone, I`ve read one other and will definitely read more.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review
In the 3rd Nosey Parker Mystery, a film is being made near Penstowan and the town residents are eager to be extras on set. Jodie, her Mum, Tony, Debbie and daughter Daisy all apply to be extras. Fun and chaos ensue. Pranks occur that aren't really funny and the on-site chef is hurt, which gives Jodie the chance to move into a cooking role that is more her style.
Tony has a surprising six pack and Darcy-like rise from the pond on-site. (see the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice)
Nathan is worried about his parents and has a job offer back in Liverpool.
The mystery is really well done with good red herrings. Jodie finally gets some of her relationships worked out. This book isn't as focused on men/preoccupation with physical relationships as book 2, which really improved it in my opinion.
I appreciate the opportunity to review a pre-release copy of the book.
A Sprinkle of Sabotage was such a fun read. I really enjoyed the characters and the storyline.
In this book, Jodie and the entire village participate as extras in a movie being filmed in her Cornish village of Penstowan. Of course, mayhem ensues and Jodie must figure out what is going on before it's too late.
The characters were of course very well developed and it kept me interested until the very end.
Can't wait to read more books by the author, great job!!
4.5 Stars
A film company is coming to the Cornish village of Penstowan, and the whole village turn up to be cast as extras, even Jodie ‘Nosey’ Parker. Determined to join in with the fun and ignore any dramas, Jodie is going to make the most of this time with her mum and daughter and of the potential to see their name in lights… or really small writing on the credits page. But right on cue, the company’s caterer Gino falls & breaks his arm so Jodie steps up. As other small accidents begin to happen, it becomes clear that the filming is being sabotaged.
This is the third book in this entertaining, page turning series. I just love Jodie who is always at the right place at the right or wrong time. We have all the regulars Tony, Shirley, Daisy & Nathan, who always add to the story. The story flows effortlessly, not everything is as it seems, the film crew start to believe the filming is cursed but then things turn far more serious. There are plenty of red herrings as well as twists & turns to keep me enthralled. There’s also the Jodie, Tony & Nathan triangle & things come to a head. Once again I thoroughly enjoyed it & look to many more in the series
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Jodie Parker (nickname ‘Nosey Parker’) served in the Met Police but when she finally gave up on her horrible husband, she returned to the Cornish village in which she’d been born and bred, taking her daughter, Daisy, with her. Jodie also decided on a career change and had always loved baking, so she did a college course with the intention of setting up a catering company.
Jodie is back again and it’s nice to see some familiar characters as well. This book can be read as a standalone.
A film company comes to the village and nearly everyone wants to sign up as an acting extra, including Jodie, her mum, and her daughter. The set caterer, Gino, has an accident so Jodie takes over from him. More incidents happen and it looks as though the rumours about the film being cursed might be true, especially when the lead actor is murdered.
In the style of Agatha Raisin and Midsomer Murders, this is a really interesting and entertaining read without being too heavy-duty. I loved it!
Thank you to NetGalley, HarperCollins UK, and One More Chapter for an advance reader copy in return for an honest review.
A Sprinkle of Sabotage is the third instalment in the Nosey Parker Cosy Mystery series, set in the quaint village of Penstowan, a small seaside resort in Cornwall. Ex-copper turned caterer with her own company, Banquets and Bakes, Jodie "Nosey" Parker moved back to her small hometown after almost twenty years in London’s Metropolitan Police Force. With her teenage daughter, twelve-year-old Daisy, in tow, and her slightly batty mother, Shirley, still living there, Jodie plans on having a quiet life running her new business. But soon the not-so-amateur detective is back in action on a new case ably assisted by her old childhood sweetheart Tony and hunky newcomer, DCI Nathan Withers, not to mention new member of the family Germaine the cute Pomeranian dog. It's 8:30 on a Saturday morning and seventy-year-old Shirley comes walking into the kitchen in a floor-length gown adorned with black sequins. Jodie is puzzled until her mum informs her that today, 27th September, is casting day for a period fantasy drama and they are looking for lots of extras to take part in the movie that'll be shot in October at Polvarrow House, Penstowan Cross. The townsfolk are all excited at the prospect of not only being in a film but rubbing shoulders with the likes of hunky Zac Smith. Jodie was reluctant but the promise of good pay was enough to entice her, as it would allow her to buy Daisy a new computer for her upcoming thirteenth birthday, so they get their glad rags on and set off - Jodie, Daisy and Shirley together.
Persuaded to take part by long-term best friend Tony Penhaligan, Jodie ends up cast as a washerwoman and part of a group of five, also featuring new friend Debbie. She isn't best pleased about her role, so when food truck owner Gino breaks his arm after falling down the stairs, Jodie takes over while he ships himself off to the hospital. She enjoys feeding the hungry crowds far more than just standing around doing nothing and waiting until she's needed. As other accidents and strange incidents happen around the set Jodie begins to wonder if the rumour about the movie being cursed is true. A short time later the lead actor is brutally murdered and she realises there is a killer on the loose. Who and why would someone wish to sabotage the movie? Jodie joins DCI Nathan Withers to try to get to the bottom of it all. This is a riveting and compulsive cosy mystery set against a picture-postcard backdrop and the hint of romance and flirtation brewing between Jodie and both Tony and Nathan was a lovely lighthearted touch to the story. There's mischief, murder and mayhem with a liberal dollop of intrigue, ample twists and revelations and added humour. Whenever I am reacquainted with the cast it's always a pleasure and they have come to feel like old friends; I am invested in them all and really care about how their lives are going. It's a sumptuous cosy with recipes, flirtation and some naughty humour with a narrative that is full of fun and mouthwatering descriptions of delicious foods. A charming, suspenseful and entertaining read, this is a mystery I highly recommend.
Retired cop, Nosey Jodie Parker turned caterer is at it again. In all fairness, she just wants to live a quiet life with her daughter and mom, but something (a dead body) always seems to ruin things. I love these cozy mysteries by Fiona Leitch! Jodie is a refreshing character that I can relate to, full of charm, wit, and she has a sense of humor that will have you howling. This story flows nicely, and the mystery of the murder unfolds timely and naturally, keeping you in suspense and wondering, which I loved. Jodie is so funny, and the side stories with her daughter and mom (and dog) help round out the plot and give it depth, and of course DCI Winters and friend Tony are the icing on the cake. I love that she is a caterer because it allows Mrs. Leitch to set the story in so many different locations. The first book was set at a wedding, the second was at an art’s fair and this third one involved film and television. I found this book entertaining and wonderful. I can’t wait to read the next one! Already wondering where Jodie will take us next!
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC for an exchange for an honest review.
An interesting mystery, great characters. Pulls you in. Nice read.
Thank you Netgalley for the advance reader copy of A Sprinkle of Sabotage by Fiona Leitch in exchange for an honest review. Jodie (Nosey) Parker and her daughter, Daisy, live in Cornwall, near her mother. The three of them head to check out a casting call for a sci-fi movie at Polvarrow House. They meet up with Jodie's friend, Tony. Nosey has a catering business that is having a problem with not enough customers. Nosey got called back along with a couple of her friends. After the chef on set gets hurt, Nosey takes over for him as chef for the movie. Then a movie star is murdered.
This was a fun book to read. I truly enjoyed where the plot lines went, funny and enjoyable. The recipes at the end made me wish for some Japanese food. Can't wait for the next one to come out.
I've read another of the author's books in this series and enjoyed this one as much as the first. I like the characters and enjoyed more of their stories unfolding. The who dunnit kept me guessing until the end and changed my mind so many times.
Will read more by her.
