A detailed trip to Venice that will make you read slowly so you can absorb all the exquisite details. And a tender love that is slowly born and grows through the pages of this book...
An interesting read for when you want to relax and enjoy the written word.
Sorry, not for me. I was looking forward to the wonderful Venetian romance but was so distracted trying to place the time period.
I started to read this book, as I'm interested in any story that involves Italy. But, I only made it past the first few chapters, as the buildup of the main character, Tim, was tedious.
This book was not for me. I did not realize it was set in the 1950s but I guessed it was by the way the women were treated. I was not rooting for Clare and Tim at all. I did enjoy the Venice setting though. It seemed very romantic and there is another guy in the picture which intrigued me. Other people might enjoy the romance but this book just wasn't for me.
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. This is the third book I have read by this author and have .loved all of them. Great storyline, great characters would recommend.
VENETIAN FANTASY by LEWIS COX is a romance novel set in beautiful Venice with interesting characters and a good story.
Tim Sloane,a business tycoon, meets his old friend Freddie, who is obviously down in his luck, in the Strand and offers him a temporary position as his secretary. He tells Freddie to find a woman secretary to work under him and Freddie employs the beautiful Clare Silver.
There is more than one man vying for Clare;s attention and we wonder if the only one she is interested in will show a romantic interest in her.
There is quite a bit of jealousy on all sides as can be expected as feelings run high.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Sapere Books.. The opinions in this review are completely my own.
This story had potential but was ruined for me by 2 things. 1) it was hard to decifer when this story was meant to be set in and as the author didn't think to advice the reader, it became quite distracting. 2) the writing style was quite amateurish and wasn't particularly smooth so came across slightly disjointed and was hard to hold the attention
I have recently discovered historical fiction and Venice, as a location appealed to me. However, it took 20% to glimpse a venetian location and I still don’t know in which era the book is set.
So far, most action is about interactions between employee/employer and the book failed to sustain my interest. I will not continue reading.
I am not a regular romance reader and I am feeling some Harlequin vibes which I am not into.
A beautiful love story that will entrance you from the very first page and wish you away to Venice and all the romance you could wish for.
It encompasses all the aspects of a good love story. A beautiful women and two men vying for her attention, one a rich workaholic who does not show his emotions and the other a bit of a looser who thinks the world owes him a living without having to do anything for it and that any pretty women is his for the taking.
It starts off slowly building to a beautiful finale in the romantic city of Venice.
Who will win out
