The timing of this book couldn't be better. It poses some theories and questions that stay with the reader (or listener, in my case, as I got the audiobook) after the book is finished. Pete Buttigieg draws on his education, political career, and military service to talk about ways to bridge the deep divides in the U.S. One of the quotes that stood out to me was this on voter suppression: "To believe that your hopes of election depend on fewer people voting is to have a tragically weak level of trust in the value of your own positions and your ability to defend them". Whether you agree with his politics or not, this is a great read that gets to the heart of what is missing in our national discourse at this point in history: trust.
