Actual Rating: 3.5 stars!
Send Me Their Souls is the final book in the Bring Me Their Hearts Trilogy. So far, I've been a great fan of this series especially the snarky main character Zera. I had high expectations for this book but it turned out to be a let down. I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. There was way too many slow scenes and It really dragged in the middle.
The story continues where it was left off in the previous installment. Lucien's sister Varia finally made her connection with the Bone tree and she's building her own Valkerax army to crush her enemies to bring a new era where witches can have a free reign. Zera is finally free from Varia's clutches, and her new master is Lucien who's ready to give her heart back. With the upcoming war, Zera isn't sure that it's the right time to lose her immortality. Being human will make her vulnerable and a liability to the team. She wants to help saving the world to make up for her past mistakes.
Zera is my favorite character in the entire series because I love snarky heroines. She was supposed to be full of wit and confidence which was somewhat missing in this book. She's ready to become a martyr to save her friends and they don't even treat her right. I know she broke their trust, but still they don't have to be rude. After everything they've been through, I just can't deal with it. Lucien is a precious sweet cinnamon roll! He cares for his kingdom and his people very much. While everyone's ready to throw Zera's life away for a good cause, he's the only one that disagreed with it because he not only cares for her but he also don't want to risk someone's life for his gain. Malachite is a great friend and a protective guard. I always enjoyed his character. I've mixed feelings about him but I don't hate him. I didn't like Fione in this book. She's definitely my least favorite character.
The storyline was good, but It was quite slow in developing. There's so many slow scenes which focused on Friendship bonding, character development, romance, and lots of travelling but not much action which is a bit disappointing. I honestly expected this to be an action packed finale. It's pretty much a slow read, but things do get intense and kickass at the end. I loved the writing style. I can never get enough of it. The world building was nicely done. I'm glad that we get to visit new places in this magical world. I loved the concept of the bone tree, and the magical creatures named Valkerax.
Overall, I liked it but it's not my favorite in the series. I'm glad the story concluded with a satisfying ending. I'm honestly not ready to say goodbye to this series! I can't believe it's finally over! I'm really gonna miss Zera!
This is the finale to a series that I recently read and exponentially loved. It will be a trilogy that I will recommend to everybody, reader or not. It’s so masterfully and beautifully written, the plot gripping and the magic so wicked. In a world where witches have Heartless as slaves, monsters once human, now in eternal servitude to their owners, their endless hunger an evil entity within.
Zera, our Heartless, so fierce, beautiful and expressive, even without a heart, she seems to shine amongst all. With her wit and sly humour, she grabs everyone’s attention, including my teddy bear, my shining in armour, Prince Lucien. She is what made this trilogy so entrapping. She with her sarcasm always wielded, fighting against the terrifying hunger calling out. Throughout the series, you watch as she learns to finally live happily, to love whole-(un)heartedly, to have true friends, and to be cared for, when all she thought was that she would forever be alone, the hunger her only companion.
The magic and the world-building are truly extraordinary and so refreshing and original. You can really tell just how hard this wonderful author worked her butt off to create such a masterpiece. A masterpiece that is drastically underrated. Why are people sleeping on this series? Its literal ecstasy.
In this last book (such tragedy, give me a moment *sniffs*) we start off right where it ended in the second book, after Varia takes power from The Bone Tree and calls upon the terrifying Valkerax (seriously these things will give you nightmares) to the Above. It started so fast and painfully unpredictable; my heart was squeezing itself so hard it hurt. It was a torment.
What I love the absolute most is the pure and utter feeling of trust and friendship between Zera, Lucien, Malachite and Fione. The fierce protectiveness and love they have for each other is what helped each of them up stand and fight during their worst. A promise that they will always be together, in life and undead. I love these characters with all of my heart, almost as if they were real and beside me.
The romance will rip your heart out, trample it, shred it and put it all back together again. Lucien and Zera are perfect, Witch and Heartless. How they fought for each other, stood beside each other and loved one other so ferociously gave me literal miniscule heart attacks. Plural. They burned for each other, hurt for each other towards the very end. They deserve all the happiness and peace in the world.
I adore Malachite with all my heart, I want to laugh with him, joke with him, to be his best friend like he is with Lucien. He’s hilarious, protective, so trusting and sincere. The fact that he was so begrudgingly happy to see Zera and Lucien together and having her back on their side made me want to happy cry. I really wish we could’ve gotten a bit more about him and his personal life (that is who he ended up with, I NEED TO KNOW)
The emotion, the FEELS, the humour, the originality, its literally perfect. I’m going to say it, I love them more than I do SJM’s books, and that’s saying something. That should convince anyone to pick this up. It will make your heart spasm. It will definitely make you cry; I can assure you, considering how hard I did towards the end.
This series will always be close to my heart, something about it just sings loud and golden. I know it will make me tear up every time I read it, as if I’m reading it for the first time, and will always forevermore be close to my heart.
||THANK YOU TO NETGALLEY AND PUBLISHER FOR PROVIDING ME WITH THIS WONDROUS BOOK IN EXCHANGE OF AN HONEST REVIEW||
I didn't realize when I was requesting this book that it is the third book in the series. To be honest, if I had of known that I might not have requested it. I'm very much a mood reader as of late, and to dive into a trilogy is difficult for me, Which is why I flew through the first two books and then struggled to read this one. But when I did finally get through it I did enjoy it. This is nothing to do with the author or the book itself, those were both great. But it was too much of a commitment for me at the time.
I read the first two books so fast but sadly, this one didn't grab me. I shelved it for now but I hope to pick it up at a later time.
To be honest, I probably shouldn't have read this after being so underwhelmed with the previous installment, but here we are, kids. This was just so freaking boring. This book could have been very interesting, but it ended up just being about Zera blaming herself for everything, Lucien brooding about saving his sister, and Mal just trying to keep the reader entertained. This was super predictable and just ughhhhhh. At least the epilogue was sweet?

I am sorry for the inconvenience but I do not have the time to read this and have gotten behind on the series. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. I do plan on purchasing this title in the future and will publish my review on Goodreads at a later time. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.
I've been waiting for this finale for what seems like ages and I'll be hoenst, it's a decent conclusion to the trilogy but I wasn’t as engrossed in this one as I was the first two. Firstly because I’ve been so busy lately it’s impacted on my reading focus. But also secondly, there just comes a point in all romance stories where I just get bored of it. Usually when it’s at the point of being established/formal I tend to shift from the oogy gooy state to the annoyed state. I just much prefer the earlier stages where it’s less certain, and with this particular installment the main relationship was established quite early on. Do have to say though that I loved the ending and the epilogue.
Of course all of this is personal preference. On a positive note, the emotional rollercoaster Wolf takes her readers through during the novel had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. A great detail I’ve noticed as I’m reaching the conclusion of this series is that Wolf has a way of keeping her audience engaged to the story.
I really enjoyed the conclusion of this series! There was plenty of action and the banter amongst the characters is one of my favorite parts. Of course, the romancy bits are always great too!
If you loved the first 2 books, definitely pick this one up - I can't wait to see what Sara Wolf writes next.
Overall, this was a fantastic trilogy that I was sad to see end, but truth be told, Send Me Their Souls was probably the weakest of the three books. Zera’s duplicity and her dogged persistence in trying to get her heart back what I loved best, and while I’m happy she found more worthy causes to live for and all, over time this has resulted in the series losing some of its zing.
Send Me Their Souls picks up immediately where the last book ended and begins by quickly resolving the cliffhanger that it left us with (once more confirming to me that it really wasn’t needed, but I’ve already complained enough about that in my reviews of the previous volumes) by reuniting Zera with Lucien, Malachite, and Fione. Without spoiling things for those who haven’t caught up to this point, a war has begun and the enemy they are up against is one that they are very familiar with, which complicates things greatly. However, the fate of the world is on the line, and as the crown prince, Lucien knows his people are depending on him to do what needs to be done.
But just how far will he go to save the people he loves? With no one to keep the use of his powers in check, Zera fears that Lucien would burn himself out with his magic, and now that she is bound to him as his Heartless, his death would mean the end of her too. More importantly, Zera now cares for Lucien, more than she thought she could ever care for anyone. For the first time in her life, she has people she can call true friends, and what good would it be to get her heart back if it means everyone she loves will be gone?
The first half of this book follows a quest narrative, so I guess I was surprised and a bit disappointed to find much of it quite uneventful. These sections were mostly dominated by dialogue, but readers invested in the romance between Zera and Lucien would probably enjoy the back-and-forth a lot more than I did. The author spends plenty of time developing their relationship, but a lot of it involves retreading old ground, repeating again and again this cycle of Lucien beating himself up for not being able to do more, and Zera beating herself up for not being able to be more supportive. Needless to say, there’s also an obnoxious amount of fawning on both their parts, with cheerleaders Malachite and Fione in the background, chiming with a never-ending supply of sappy cornball remarks. As I said before, Zera’s new friendships have completely changed the dynamic of her interactions with everyone, and while I can’t think of no one more deserving of her newfound happiness, it has admittedly made the series less interesting to me as a whole.
It also made the characters’ behaviors and the overall storyline more predictable, and aside from the events in the conclusion, nothing really surprised me or kept me guessing the way the first two books did. The ending was quite different, I have to say, but though I appreciated that it went in a direction I did not foresee, the execution was a bit awkward and confusing. I felt like I might have missed something, and the epilogue also dragged on well past its expiration date, which is a shame because I think a more abrupt ending would have been more effective at delivering the poignant and emotional impact the author intended.
Still, I don’t want to make it sound like I didn’t enjoy this book, since I’m aware I’ve probably been doing a lot more complaining than praising. Many of the elements I loved from the previous volumes are also present in this one, and I guess I’ve been taking some of it for granted! The world-building continues to be awesome, though a lot of it I can’t talk about—including the stuff about valkeraxes and the Bone Tree—in case I inadvertently reveal too much. And even with the changes in Zera, I still adore her. She’s one of the most spirited and fun YA protagonists I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading, and she can still wisecrack with the best of them, returning verbal ripostes like a champ. I’m really going to miss her now that this series is over.
For all those reasons, I’m not too upset even though Send Me Their Souls was probably my least favorite of the Bring Me Their Hearts trilogy. Even with its flaws, though, I would still recommend these books, especially if you are a fan of YA fantasy romance, because then you’d likely not have the same gripes I did and enjoy this ending a lot more.
This is the third and final book in the Bring Me Their Hearts Trilogy. (There isn’t much I can get into without giving away spoilers, so I’ll keep it brief)
I really enjoyed this conclusion. It picks up right where the second book let’s off. The romance and friendships grew and developed so much throughout the series, it was satisfying and heartwarming seeing how it all came together.
The epilogue was probably my favorite part of the story. What a well done series.
I love everything about this series. I love Zera, I love Lucien, I love Malachite and Fione, I love all the side characters and other creatures!
The only reason that I'm not giving this 5 stars is that I feel like the pacing was a little off sometimes, it felt very drawn-out and I feel like not a lot was happening most of the time. Then there was that ending which left me with more questions than answers. Suddenly too much was happening at once. I'm so confused, about everything.
This book gives off entirely different vibes than the first two. I think I loved those just a tiny bit better!

Despite this last book being a little too "end of the world" for me, maybe being a bit too long, and the ending lacking some explanation, this was still a very solid conclusion to this endearing and fantastical series. Plenty of romp and adventures with our charming cast, plus swoons and sass. Its all inclusive guys, and it's pretty great.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Zera and her friends are back in this conclusion to the Bring Me Their Hearts trilogy. With the Bone Tree possessing Varia, what lengths will Zera, Lucien, Mal, and Dione go to in order to bring her back from the edge? How will they defeat her and her army of Valkarax, and what of the war between witches and mortals?
I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy. When I first requested it on NetGalley I had no clue that it was the final book in a trilogy but I'm so glad I did. Sara Wolf weaves great story telling with touching moments and light humor, creating characters that are always engaging and who don't take themselves and their destiny too seriously. It's hard to say which book in this trilogy was my favorite, they all had exactly what I needed to keep me interested at all different points of the trilogy. No complaints as to how the story wrapped up or the costs that were paid.
Overall, I enthusiastically recommend this entire trilogy to anyone 12+. This conclusion is sure to make you feel like that the time spent with these characters was well spent.
What a great ending to such an adventurous series! I was worried about where the series was going to go, but it turned into a wonderful ending for a group of characters that share in their witty humor and dark adventures. I'm excited to see where this author takes her next stories.
I loved this series!! Zera has always been a witty and fierce MC to follow and she really made this series amazing! I really enjoyed the conclusion to this story but wish the epilogue was a little longer and that there would have been a little bit more in depth explanation in some parts since they caused a small minor plot holes when reading. All in all this series was great and I look forward to read whatever Sara Wolf has in store for us next.
Oh, Zera.
Lost and broken. A messy character full of flaws - it's what made her so relatable.
The ending of this trilogy ia truly a conclusion. I do not wish to spoil anything, so I will leave you with this:
If you've read books one and two, do NOT hesitate to pick this book up ASAP and read the hesrtbreaking conclusion.
3 or 3,5 stars... Not sure yet, lol.
A bit sad this series is over now, because I really loved spending time in this world, with these characters and the author's writing.
Have to say though: I'm a bit disappointed with the last part of the book though, because that felt a bit too superficial for me. I missed a bit of more in depth closure on some parts and personally would've loved it of there'd be a more extended 'development' of the plot towards the end. This was all a bit too predictable for my taste, a bit too 'mellow' I guess?
But despite all that, I'd definitely still recommend reading this trilogy, because overall it's such a fun and addictive story-line to follow from beginning till end! In the future, I'll definitely be doing a re-read at one point.
4.5 / 5
Wow. What can I say. A near perfect end to a series I have grown very fond for.
The third and final book to Sara Wolf’s beautiful, funny, vast and heartwarming series has me both satisfied and yet ‘starving’ for more.
The plot nicely progressed, the characters were well developed, and the world building truly made this novel excellent and interesting. I love that there is so much of the world that the readers haven’t seen. That the world is still a mystery to be solved by Zera and readers alike.
I won’t say much more other than this series is worth reading if you’re a person wanting to be more brave. Ir wanting to read if someone brave.
I will never forget Zera and how her journey has inspired me. I love this character. I truly love Zera and everything she stands for and for that I am thankful to Sara Wolf for creating such an amazing character. I only wish to read more of her adventures. I also love Evlorasin with a passion. I’d love to see more of their story as well.
The reason I did not give this the full 5 stars is solely because I am selfish and want more. I want more story, more explanation, more Zera. So... if there happens to be a novella tying up all the loose ends... I may have to reconsider this rating. You hear that Sara Wolf? MORE PLEASE. That’s my hunger speaking ;)
Will Zera Finally her her heart or will she remain a monster for good? This was a great wrap up to the series. It was a bit slow for me at time, but I do think it balanced out in the end. We find Zera now as Lucien’s heartless which was definitely an interesting turn of events. They must work to find a way to save Varia while also saving the world they know.
The third book in Bring Me Their Hearts series was a pleasant surprise. I was really hyped for this story, after the ending of book two. I expected that there will be many thrilling scenes that will blow my mind, but nothing prepared me for what I actually got from this story. In some aspects, this book was even better than the previous ones. However, in some aspects, this book was a disappointment.
What did I like about this book the most? Well, the answer is pretty clear to me. Zera. I loved the development of her character, strength, and will to do anything for her beloved and friends. She truly became a hero that deserves all the love from readers, because this is how the strong female characters should look! And her romance with certain someone was truly a pretty bonus to the story.
The plot of this book was a lot slower than I anticipated. As I mentioned in the beginning, yes, there were many thrilling scenes, but... There were also many scenes that seemed unnecessary, that doesn't fit with the rest of the story. Because of that, I easily lost my focus, I couldn't concentrate on reading and couldn't enjoy this book properly. Maybe it was because of my expectations, but I wanted more adventurous and fighting scenes, but we only got them at the end of Send Me Their Souls.
Overall, I would say that this was a good book, but compared to books in this series, it's only average. I truly hoped that I would love this book, however there were some things that I didn't like and couldn't ignore.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
