Send Me Their Souls is quite the ending to the Bring Me Their Hearts series. It almost felt like something separate from the rest. It continued and wrapped up the story well. It just a lot happens and a lot of world building.
I can’t remember if I felt before that this story gives me Final Fantasy vibes. I thought it would fit perfectly as an RPG game. I loved the world building and how we get to explore different cities and how they all have their unique attributes. I think the first two books were really focused on the characters and their development and this felt more focused on the world, it’s history and of course those pesky trees.
Despite that I felt that this book had a strong focus on world building, I still loved the characters. Again it’s quite the diverse crew and again I think that’s why it reminds me of a videogame. Bringing together a group that comes from different parts of the world, with different talents. We also get to know Malachite a little bit more and maybe why he’s always so prickly. Zera of course does not drop her witty banter, doesn’t matter if she has two eyes or six. The way that her and Lucien work as a team makes me so happy. I love when we drop the romance drama and see the love interest come together and work in a partnership. Also the unbreakable friendships are good to see.
I don’t want to give too much away, again it is a big book and a lot of things happen. I can’t think of any questions that were left unanswered. Well I had one and it has to do with a brain situation but it really has no impact on the story. It’s kind of like when you wonder if someone closes a door after they have opened it.
I loved Send Me Their Souls and I have loved this series. I feel like it doesn’t get as much love as it deserves. From the witty character interactions, to the engaging story and of course the interesting world. I would highly recommend picking this up if you love fantasy and want something a little more unique.
I have loved this series since it was first introduced to me. I anxiously awaited the conclusion, which was Send Me Their Souls. I wish I could say I loved it as much as the first two books, but I can't. Something felt a bit off about this one.
Without spoiling much, I will just say the story telling aspect of Send Me Their Souls felt flat this time around. The dialogue wasn't as catchy, and too much time was spent "telling" instead of creating a feeling for the reader. I also felt like the plot dragged on (to the point that I lost interest and had to make myself sit down and finish it). By 70% complete I was just tired of the journey. By 90% I was confused by the pacing and concerned at how quickly the conflict was going to resolve. I started to think maybe this wouldn't be the finale after all and another book would be on the way. I was wrong, however. Everything wrapped up neatly in the final 10%-- I have issues with that, by the way. There were MANY unanswered questions and things left unsaid that should have been dealt with. For those reasons, I couldn't love this as much as I wanted to.
Send Me Their Souls - the conclusion to the Bring Me Their Hearts series - is a wild, raw, intense, and passionate ride that will have you on the edge of your seat. The stakes are higher, the swoons are hotter, and the action bigger than ever before. Highly recommended to romance and fantasy lovers alike. This series is absolute can't miss!

This series is a delicious treat to sink your teeth into, with Send Me Their Souls the hard-earned ending to the trilogy.
At last, after two books of watching Zera face the consequences of both her own choices and the choices of others, this Heartless and her friends finally have a chance to conclude their harrowing mission with a story wrought with sacrifice, love, friendship, forgiveness, and redemption.
This was one of my favorite series to read in 2020, and, although the plot itself is well-written, the best part of these books has to be the found family dynamic of Zera’s makeshift squad and all their witty banter! I look forward to reading Sara Wolf’s next series!
Thank you Netgalley and Entangled Teen for allowing me to read an ARC of the conclusion to this fantasy trilogy! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I first read Bring me their Hearts back in the summer, and have really come to hold a fondness for the entire series. I think it really gained momentum with the second book, Bring me their Bones, and Send Me Their Souls kept up with that same energy.
SMTS was a fantastic conclusion to the series - plot twists were tied up in a satisfying way, all characters were accounted for and made reappearances, each and every one being important to the development of the storyline. This tied in amazingly with the main message of the book - everything and everyone is connected, each of us plays their part in the confusing and beautiful dance that is life.
I thoroughly enjoyed the world building once again - I think the different places the main characters explore feel so alive and full of magic and wonder, Wolf truly has a talent for creating scenes that the reader cannot help but enter.
The characters are all endearing and feel incredibly realistic, all of them going through their own struggles in ways that make them seem that much more relatable.
Also, I adore the lesbian rep Varia and Fione give us. Seriously, my heart is so weak for sapphic romance.
My biggest complaint about this book, but really the series as a whole, is part of the pacing. Book one and two both ended on insane cliffhangers that get wrapped up quite nicely within the two first chapters of the respective following book. I would have enjoyed the series a lot more if the books didn't't leave so many threads unresolved at the end, and if I hadn't essentially read all three of them back-to-back, it would have frustrated me much more, no question about it.
There were some plotpoints that were not wrapped up quite as nicely as I would have liked them to be, but that's really just personal preference.
Altogether, I thought this was an amazing YA series. I adored the general theme, the characters are super likable, the romance is great and the world is incredibly vibrant. While I think the first book is good, the second and third are great - I highly recommend them. But only if you're able to read them in quick succession, otherwise, those cliffhangers will leave you fuming (and potentially confused).
Great conclusion to a great series! I love Zera so much I think she is so badass. And the romance was perfect I loved this so much
The Bring Me Their Hearts series has been such a breath of fresh air in the YA fantasy genre, and its finale is no exception. It is certainly a dark series, but infused with humor and a uniqueness that makes it so, so enjoyable. Finales are always a little tricky to review, for fear of spoilers, so I’ll keep it brief!
As in the first two books in the series, Zera and her friends are on another high stakes quest (and explaining that would give away too much from book two, but they’re trying to like, save people and such) that of course is incredibly dangerous. But it also leaves them with some time for more relationship forming (romantic and friendships alike), and a lot of character development. Zera is, as always, comedic gold. She just has such a sharp, witty sense of humor that made her a truly unique character. Not only that, but the snarky banter she shares with her friends is always great.
My only complaint was that the pacing was a bit slow for me. But that was made up for with the character and relationship developments, as well as a great deal of emotional tension throughout. I felt quite content with the ending, even though I was sad to leave behind such a lovely cast of characters!
Bottom Line: If you’ve read the other two books, this conclusion will undoubtedly satisfy you. If you haven’t started, I suggest you do so!
Thank you to Entangled Teen for sending me an ARC via netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
4.5/5 stars.
This is the third and final book in this trilogy, and everything about it was incredible. I think the author wrapped everything up so well and neatly in the end, but it took a lot of intense, heart-pounding, and heart-breaking moments to get to that ending.
The whole book felt like it never stopped moving forwards. Even when the characters weren’t doing anything it still felt like things were happening. I found the plot pretty easy to follow, and I liked seeing the journey the characters had to take to find their answers. Some aspects of the plot were a little too predictable for me in how they played out, but it was still interesting to read. We got to explore new places in this one, and we got to learn more about the wider world that the series is situated in.
I think the characters are my favourite part of this trilogy. The banter between everyone is so much fun, and I love Malachite! The relationships between the characters are so well-defined, and they felt realistic. The tensions and issues that have been created through the events of the previous book were able to be worked through more with the characters, and I really liked seeing the evolution of all the different relationships (especially Zera and Lucien’s!) as well as getting to see more of Yorl.
If you like fat-paced fantasy stories with snarky banter and some kickass characters, I’d definitely recommend picking up Bring Me Their Hearts and giving this trilogy a try!
4.5 Stars
I've read hundreds of fantasy books in my life and this series had all of the standard elements of those: companions from various walks of life working together in an epic adventure for good, conspiracies, villains, romance, magic, etc. etc. What really made this series stand out as special to me was Sara Wolf. Her voice, her writing, has always resonated with me across all genres she has written in, and that was certainly the case again here. She infuses the characters with wit and the story with emotion and energy, using words in a unique way that I am continually impressed by. I always have to be 100% focused and read every word when I read her books, and I'm better for it. I may have had as many questions as Yorl about certain things toward the end, but overall I was supremely satisfied with this final book of the trilogy. Getting lost in this world was a nice way to escape the real-world trials and tribulations of our own at the current time to boot.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance review copy of this book. Thank you to the author for .... being an author. See, no talent with words here, which is why I appreciate hers so much.
Who’s crying? I’m not crying. What an ending! I love this series. Zera has had a grip on my heart from the very beginning.
Send me their souls is the final book in the trilogy. Zera has come so far in this journey but how will she save the world? Will it be in love or war. Who will survive? I was scarred to see how this was going to end but Sara Wolf didn’t disappoint.
As this story unfolded I was guessing all the way. I loved the romance between Zera and Lucian. She’s heartless but she loves him the best she can. They want to save everyone they care about but it isn’t so simple.
Magic needs balance. When it’s disturbed there is a price. The price is destruction. Our group need to figure out how to stop the end of the world but it seems impossible.
I expected this to be all guns blazing. It didn’t hold any prisoners but the pace was a little slow for my likings. However, I absolutely love this series and I would recommend it to anyone. Each book is a new part of the journey and although it’s a continuous story each part is completely different.
4 Stars out of 5. I’m sad it’s over but loved the ride.

This was a great conclusion to this story that I really enjoyed. As usual I loved Zera and the relationships she has managed to build along this journey so I loved seeing them all come together. One of the main things I loved in this series was the banter, and this last installment definitely did not disappoint. I think the only issue I had was that it dragged a little bit in the middle but it picked up again pretty fast. Overall this was a fantastic ending to this highly entertaining series.
I had every intention of finishing and reviewing this book before release day, but that obviously didn't happen. And the reason for that is that I just could not get into this. I loved the first two books and was impatiently waiting for this one. I had such high hopes! But I am definitely the minority here and I sadly was not impressed. It was all way too emotionally feely for me.
The first two book were so much fun and interesting. This one was not. Zera was constantly lamenting over what she helped make happen, and after she moves on from that it switches to over what she has to do. While Lucien had me swooning oh so very much throughout the whole book, he is way too self sacrificing here and that got tedious. Fione is still a background character. Varia is as well because anytime she actually makes an appearance, it's not actually her in control of her body. Thank every god in this series for Malachite. I just love that boy and he was always there with his hilarious banter to break up the monotony of the story.
I will say that I was very happy at the beginning with Zera's choice. I actually was really worried it wouldn't go that way. I was also happy that these two became a couple almost right away instead of dragging it out. But while it feels like a whole lot happens here, it also doesn't at the same time. We don't actually see Varia and her army of valkerax destroying the world, we get glimpses of the aftermath and dreams of their travels. Our group travels the land supposedly looking for a way to stop Varia and not kill her, but really it's just a lot of traveling from place to place and eventually Fione trying to decipher an ancient book. Don't get me wrong, the places they go and how they get there are neat, but it felt like they were totally disconnected from what was going on. Yorl shows up again and it was fun to have him around too. With his help on the book, our group comes up with a plan to stop Varia. And definitely not the best one. By this point Zera has figured out what actually has to be done to restore the world and stop the trees, and she's more than willing to do it to save those she loves. She just has to piggyback on the others' plan and make her move before them. And to get Lucien to trust her and leave her behind.
It was nice to get the epilogue from Lucien's POV. It's been 3 years since Zera's actions and he's well on his way to creating the world he desires for his people. But during this time, this king without a crown has been exceedingly lonely. And if selfless princes who put their people first don't deserve a happy ending, I don't know who does.
What an exciting finish to the series! I love these books from the start. The main character is feisty and very sarcastic, which I love. She was strong but flawed and it made her more relatable. The side characters were all amazing as well and wonderfully written. This is a world that clearly shows not everything is black and white. Sometimes people do terrible things for reasons they think are good. I'm looking forward to whatever this author brings to the table next. And that cover! It's amazing!
This is what the readers have been waiting for in this. Zera has decisions to make. Will they be able to stand against what is to come? The turmoil that is in this is also in the reader as you get through this one. This is a place to escape to that will give you romance and magic but along with it is trials. You are give the unexpected because it does not follow the ordinary course. With everything she is supposed to do we wonder when will we see something special for her? That is something that is best given when you read this.
Thank you to Entangled Publishing and netgallery for giving me a free copy of this book to review.
I love this series and bought the first two books for my kindle so when I signed up to netgallery a few months ago and got a copy of this book to read I was so thrilled. For those who do not know this is the last book in the "bring me their heart triology"
Zeta's journey had finally came to an end and now is the time she has to find a way to save the world. I'm happy to say Sarah Wolf didn't disappoint me in this last book.
Zera had a hard time to love Lucian but she tries the best she can when she's heartless. They want to save everyone they know and care about but sadly it isn't as straight forward as they hope. Like everything else in the world magic needs balance and when that balance is disturbed there is a price to pay. The price sadly is destruction. This group needs to figure out how to restore the balance and to stop the end of the world. However that currently seems impossible.
I love how this book doesn't hold any prisoners and although in areas it was a bit slow it didn't stop the book being any less enjoyable. I highly recommend this series to anyone as it is such an enjoyable read with each book adding new and interesting parts to the story While also being completely different at the same time
"Be wary always of bards who sing about beautiful war."
I am so sad that this series is over. I'll greatly miss the witty banter, colorful characters, dark adventure, and refreshing originality that I loved so much. I even discussed the first installment, Bring Me Their Hearts, as part of my bachelor's thesis regarding the shifting role of heroine in young-adult literature. Still, overall, this was an amazing ending and I am looking forward to more from Sara Wolf in the future.
After fulfilling Varia's demands and helping her reach the Bone Tree, Zera once again finds herself at a crossroads: does she take her heart back and run or does she remain Heartless for a little while longer to rejoin her friends and help them stop the Laughing Daughter and her valkerax army before they destroy the land that has become her home? But stopping the Bone Tree won't be easy, especially if Zera wants to still be able to save her beloved prince's sister and the love of Fione's life. There's always Lucian's magic, but big spells cost him dearly and Zera can't bear to watch him lose any more than he already has. How much is she willing to lose to save the people she was never supposed to love?
This was great! I loved getting to see Zera interact with her friends and Lucian without the added friction being Heartless caused in previous books-- they have bigger fish to fry with valkerax on the loose. I also enjoyed the return of so many characters such as Nightsinger, Crav, Peligri, Lady Y'shennria, Yorl, and Evlorasin and seeing how they've changed. Honestly, this would have been a 5 star rating had the Epilogue not been so disjointed and left so many questions. I liked the political twists and changes such as Lucian dissolving the ruling class, but I hated how I felt other things weren't explained and the lack of explanation left plot holes. For instance, how was Varia accepted by the people and witches after committing near genocide on behalf of the Bone Tree? How did Zera survive the blast? Why did it take her three years to resurface? What did she remember about her mortal life after getting her heart back? Still, it was interesting to watch Zera struggle against the song of the Bone Tree that she now hears due to the blood promise. The question is: when the Bone Tree says "Send Me Their Souls" will Zera be strong enough to resist?
“The Starving Wolf’s hunger for her heart opened the gates that held back the end of the world.”

Rating: 5 out of 5.
I couldn’t be more thrilled at getting the chance to review this book! I remember looking at the cover of Bring Me Their Hearts and just going for it. No expectations, and I was blown away. I loved the series humor, heart, and action. I’m so very sad that the series is over, but I can’t wait to read more from Sara Wolf.
This book is the third book in the Bring Me Their Hearts series, following Zera after the heart-stopping events of the second book. Zera has gained her friends back, but is it too late to save the world? Can she really get everything her heart desires, if she doesn’t even have a heart?
What this series has always come down to for me is Zera. I’ve loved her from the first book, her snark and sincerity. The way she thinks of others and her determination was as inspiring as it was entertaining to read. She’s the kind of heroine I read books for and that continues in this book.
I don’t want to spoil too much since this is the last book in the series, but I did love how the stakes get progressively higher in every book without it seeming too arranged. The series has a really great plot that keeps things new and interesting while staying consistent to the world and the characters. I will complain just a bit that this book was kind of slow in the first half, as all the characters seem to just be having conversations and collecting knowledge. Even with all the action scenes and battles, it still didn’t feel like it was that exciting. However, that might have just been me being eager to get to the end.
The characters are just as great through it all though. Lucien is a character that I feel really gained a lot of depth in this book. The choices and sacrifices he makes turn him into the kind of leader he is. I really liked seeing him in a position similar to Zera for the first time. Where he has the power to save his friends, but at great cost to himself. I feel like this really connected Zera and Lucien in a new way. Their relationship reaching a new level of emotional intimacy, It was very adorable and angsty to read.
I also really loved how everyone in the gang has their own thing going on. I wish there was more time with Malachite and his drama. We get crumbs of it, but I want to know! What was his life like with the Beneathers! Will he ever have a romance of his own, does he even care? Anyways, I just want more of him. Fiona, too, she has had such a rough journey. Such a sweet summer child who deserves only the best! It is always impressive to me when I’m invested in the side characters as much as the main ones, great character development for all!
And yeah, I also shed some tears at the end of this book, for happy and sad reasons. Part of which is just that the series is over. I tend to get emotional over this sort of thing. The book has a really great epilogue that I really appreciated. No spoilers, but it’s a great one. And will hopefully leave you in tears like it did to me.
TL;DR: This is such a great series and I’m so sad to see it end. With really amazing characters that you absolutely come to love and care for and a wicked sense of humor, this fantasy is not be missed.

I loved this book! I thought that it was an excellent conclusion to a trilogy that I really enjoyed. I get excited about a lot of books but every once in a while, I get my hands on a book that I just cannot wait to read and it gets moved to the top of the pile. This was one of those books. Once I had it loaded on my reader, I couldn't help but to start reading it and once I started there was no stopping.
This is the third book in the Bring Me Their Hearts Trilogy which really needs to be read in order since the book picks up right where the previous one ended. Zera is still Heartless and now her heart is held by a new witch. This witch happens to be the man she loves, Prince Lucien. Zera, along with Lucien, Malachite, and Fione are all determined not only to stop Varia from destroying the world with her control of the Bone Tree but to save her while doing so. They face a lot of really big obstacles in this story but I loved seeing their resolve and I think that they worked really well as a team.
The relationship between Zera and Lucien has been developing throughout the trilogy. I really do like them as a couple and felt like not only do they have fantastic chemistry but that their personalities fit together really well. Things definitely progress in this book beyond simple flirtation into a full relationship. I think that the friendships between all of the members of the group grew a lot over the course of the story and I found it touching how much they would each be willing to risk for each other.
I thought that the overall mission in this story was very well done. There is plenty of excitement in this story that kept me glued to the pages. I loved the way that the story was able to keep me guessing and there were plenty of completely unexpected developments to keep things very interesting. I thought that the series came to a very satisfying conclusion and the epilogue was phenomenal. Can I just say how much I love a well-done epilogue? Well, this epilogue blew me away.
I would highly recommend this trilogy to others. I thought that this was a very well done story that captivated my attention from beginning to end. I definitely plan to read more of Sara Wolf's work in the future.
I received a digital review copy of this book from Entangled: Teen via NetGalley.
I received an arc from Entangled Publishing via Netgalley. I couldn't wait to read the final book, so I am very grateful for this opportunity. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
The whole story was packed with adventure, but it also included reflections on the past and hopes for the future, which I very much enjoyed reading about.
I am glad Zera started working again with Lucien, Malachite and Fione. The dynamic of their mutual relationships is just something special. I also enjoyed watching them travel to new places.
I just adored seeing Lucien and Zera together, their banter was so good, I couldn't stop chuckling. I feel like they are made for each other and I will miss them so much.
Probably my only complaint is that the end could have been a little bit longer, I would have appreciated more information about some characters lives.
I fell in love with this series from the start. Zera is just the right type of main heroine for me and she didn't let me down even in the last book with her behaviour and remarks. I won't ever forget her journey.
I would recommend this series to anyone who likes strong, caring, witty heroines and original fantasy world and swoon worthy romance.
