Domestic noir and psychological suspense are fused in this twisty thriller with Anna as an unreliable protagonist. The reader doesn't have to read very far in this before realising Anna has little insight into her behaviour. Dark secrets lie beneath her facade. An immersive plot with many twists makes this an addictive read.
I received a copy of this book from Bookouture via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
This was a domestic thriller book that I thought was good! Makes you question everything and everyone. The plot had a lot of twists and it definitely was crazy and fast paced. Def had a great ending and I wasnt expecting it! I really enjoyed the main character too, she did a great job in this book and the author did a great job writing it!
I started the book and found it slow. I could not relate to Anna or her family so skipped ahead. I found out that her husband was unfaithful, her job was not going well, her student cheated, her mother was probably not a great person and the ending left me..unwilling to spend hours reading to find out the details. I am sorry this book did not work for me. Maybe it would at some other point in time...perhaps not. I hope it does well.
This book took me forever to read. I'd start reading, put it down and think I'll try again tomorrow. I was so intrigued by the blurb that I'm really disappointed I didn't enjoy this more. I think the author did a great job writing but I just couldn't like Anna. That made the book not enjoyable for me.
I didn't like the cover of this one, it seemed very homemade, which was disappointing because I'm a sucker for a good cover. That being said, the author is amazing and I adored the story. Still 5 stars because the cover is obviously not the author's fault.
The characters in Unfaithful were all out crazy. I was gripped in until the actual killer was revealed and I was totaly let down. Although it was a different twist to the story and it made it a not a typical kind of read. I felt sorry for the main character, Anna. Every that went wrong in her life did go wrong.I grew to like her as a relatable character. I stayed up way too late to finish. It was still an enjoyable read in the end.
Wow this book is crazy! I was quite intrigued with the book cover and reading the blurb. Anna Sánchez arrives at her husband’s, Luis, art studio and sees a pair of wine glasses by the sink, her instinct is true - her husband is having an affair. But she keeps it to herself and does not acknowledge what she saw because she needs their marriage, she has her own secrets to keep.
Anna is a college professor with a lot of vices, one of her best students, Alex, dies and the police comes asking her questions. There’s a lot of twists and turns, it’s fast paced, and suspenseful. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and the author for a gifted copy. This is my honest review.
I very much enjoyed this book. It has a good story and excellent main characters. I would definately recommend this book.
I have really mixed feelings about this one. I really liked the premise and a lot of the plotlines. There were plenty of twists that kept me guessing. The part I had a problem with was Anna. I really couldn't stand her. I honestly almost gave up on a book I was mostly enjoying because she irritated me so much. She was always making stupid decisions and doing stupid things. I wanted to smack her most of the time. I should have felt bad for her considering all that was going wrong in her life but I really didn't care. This would have been a 4-5 star book for me if Anna hadn't been so irritating to me.
What a gripping thriller.
I love the character, I couldn't stop read 😍
This was a very disturbing but good read.
Thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish and could not get enough of.
This is a must read for anyone who enjoys a good thriller!!
Absolutely loved the characters, the plot, the tension - impossible to put it down.
Certainly recommended!
Thanks Netgalley.
This was an enthralling and gripping read that I would highly recommend everyone who loves a good thriller to get their hands on.
Unfaithful is a good thriller but towards the end felt a bit dragged out. Chief "rallier" & math professor Anna Sanchez made for a good and complex character & the story had enough elements of suspense to make me feel uncertain about how I felt about Anna till the end. I found Anna to be the only interesting part about the book. The plot was good but felt a bit familiar & did not evoke any emotions that generally come with reading a psychological thriller. The book opens normally, with the suspenseful parts coming up quite late so it wasn't as compelling as I thought it to be.
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture & Natalie Barelli for an arc!
This was the first book I’ve read by this author but it definitely won’t be my last!
An absolute wild ride of a read from the perfect start to the bitter finish with curve ball after curveball thrown at me the whole way through made this an absolutely gripping fantastic read and kept me on the edge of my seat and up all night reading until i finished it... I can’t recommend it highly enough !!!!
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the Arc of Unfaithful my review is honest unbiased.
This was a great thriller. I really enjoyed and definitely recommend this book.
I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and Bookouture in return for my honest review. Thank you for the opportunity
If ever there's a character who likes to make life difficult for themselves it's the maths professor who takes the lead role in 'Unfaithful'. The way the story sets off you will be horrified by her actions. But this is just the start of the story. Then you come to realise that, despite the huge secret she's keeping, other people also aren't particularly on her side. But it will all be okay when the project she's been working on comes to fruition - won't it?
Every aspect of her life gradually begins to look like they are going to implode, then the police come asking questions the situation begins to look like it can't get any worse.
I did wonder at first whether this book would hold my interest as it seemed to be based around a maths problem which I had no understanding of but the focus broadened as the story went along and the plot had me well and truly hooked.
More and more revelations come out and some cracking twists in the storyline bring the story to a brilliant climax.
There are some very unlikeable characters throughout the book - in fact I can't think of a single nice person in the whole thing. But therein lies the skill of the author that you will love to hate every single one of them!
This is the first book I have read by Natalie Barelli and I will definitely be reading more. Gripping and full of twists and turns this is a story that you’ll want to keep turning the pages to find out what is going to happen next. I thought I had guessed the outcome, but I was so wrong.
Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley.
This thriller ticks of ALL of the boxes: well written, un-put-downable, full of well disguised red herrings, and not one, but TWO twists at the end. A feel-good ending after all that horrific violence at the end?
Anna is definitely dark and messed up, but with a cruel, manipulative mother like hers and an uncaring/disinterested father, what could we expect? The narrator cannot really be trusted. We begin to believe the worst about her, but pardon her trespasses because she's had a weird childhood with a very controlling, mean mother. (Anna showers love on her own kids and husband in compensation.)
In vino veritas? Those drunken episodes cause you to think twice about Anna - is she capable of all of these awful things? Is she as narcissistic and dark as all that? Great job of misdirection by the author. Loved the ending although I felt I really had to suspend my disbelief for the reveal. Still, a great read.
My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
First book by this author and and what a book it was!
I like the easy uncluttered writing style which pulled me in quickly. The pacing slows, after a exciting beginning, but not for long. Then you are served one crazy twist after the next, many of which I did not see coming. I think that’s because the majority of these characters are absolutely heinous!!
I admit that Anna wasn’t without her faults and she also made such poor choices for a highly intelligent person. Some of the reviews criticized how neatly (and unrealistically) this wrapped up I understand BUT I loved it none the less! I thought the last twist brought some redemption where it was desperately needed.
I found this highly entertaining and will look for more from this author! Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Bookouture for a copy in exchange for a review.
An enjoyable book with a good storyline. Unfortunately I didn't really relate to any of the characters and found them all a little wooden and unbelievable.
This is the second book that I've read in the last week from this author. And, I'm going to say again that I HATE when authors make unreliable female narrators! Please STOP making women stupid! Please STOP making women unreliable! Please STOP making women weak! Please STOP using alcohol to justify why women are acting stupid. Women are not stupid or weak or unreliable!
There were a lot of things going on in this book. Explaining them would spoil the whole book. Suffice it to say, there were a bit too many things going on here, but at least they were tied up in a bow and presented nicely in the end.
