This is the first book I have read by Natalie Barelli and I will definitely be reading more. Gripping and twisty. I thought I had guessed the outcome, but I was so wrong.
Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley.
DO NOT READ THIS BOOK IF YOU ARE SLOPPILY DRUNK OR HAVE JUST HAD A HEAVY MEAL.
WONDERING WHY?
WELL, DON'T THEY GIVE YOU THE SAME WARNING BEFORE A THRILLING AND PRECARIOUS CAR RIDE ALONG THE STEEP HILLS OR A ROLLERCOASTER RIDE?
THERE ARE SO MANY TWISTS AND TURNS IN THIS BOOK, IT WILL MAKE YOU NAUSEOUS AND YOU WILL LIKE IT.
Anna, a conformist, devoted and loving mother working as an associate Maths professor gets embroiled in situations where someone ends up DEAD. She has en envious life, perfect family, two lovely teenaged children, she couldn't ask for more. But there is a KILLER and I BET you wont be able to GUESS who it is.
Relentless but perfectly timed RED HERRINGS, DARK WIT and RIVETING.
Thankyou NetGalley and Bookouture for sending me an e ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wonderful. Packed with twists. A rollercoaster of a read. A suspenseful, dramatic, addictive, original pageturner. One of my favourite reads of this year. So happy to have discovered this author. Will be reading everything by her and waiting eagerly for her next books.
This book was flipping fantastic, I read it in two sittings as I honestly couldn’t put it down, full of twists and turns this is a story that you’ll want to keep turning the pages to find out what is going to happen next. I recommend this book 100%. 5🌟
Anna Sanchez is an associate professor in a college math department. She’s happily married to artist Luis and they have two children. At least, that’s how she would describe herself before a series of increasingly bad decisions nearly ruin her life. Unfaithful is a lock your door, don’t answer the phone and ignore your schedule kind of book. Thriller is an understatement. There is so much I want to say but I’ll try to do this without spoilers. Believe me, mathematics departments are not as dull as you might think.
Anna is thesis advisor to Alex, a gifted grad student, who is working on a seemingly unsolvable math problem. When with her help, he finds a solution, Anna is thrilled, knowing she will finally receive the recognition she deserves in her department. When she accompanies Luis to the opening night of the exhibition of his installation art, she notices that he pays more attention to Isabelle, the beautiful blonde curator of the show, than he does to Anna. Feeling insecure both at work and at home, Anna makes a mistake that will slowly but inevitably lead to destruction.
I could not put this book down and read it in one afternoon. It’s my first thriller by Natalie Barelli and it will not be my last! 5 stars
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Natalie Barelli for this ARC.
I really enjoyed this book although I had a huge feeling I had read it before but couldn’t work out if I had or not so read it again anyway. It’s an exciting thriller and I loved the twist at the end. This would make a really good movie I think. It’s full of misdirection and I kept changing my mind over who was up to no good.
Unfaithful is the first book I have read by Natalie Barelli. I doubt it will be my last. This book was crazy in a good way. It is definitely a slow burner. The main character Anna is a bit of a train wreck. One mistake after another just compounds all that is going wrong in her life. The ending was a surprise, which is rare for me. This is one of those books that is hard to review without giving anything away. A good solid suspense with a surprise ending.
Well, this was quite the unusual book. It began with the normal, everyday family, like “Leave it to Beaver” and quickly morphed into The Bundys. Well, the parents anyway. Anna and Luis Sanchez are the picture-perfect parents juggling taking care of their two children while working two jobs. Anna is a math professor, and Luis is a sculptor. Very nice, normal people, right? Uh, no, not so much.
Very quickly, Anna’s life became a total mess, and everything she touched went sideways. I really can’t say more without giving the story away. I kept this thinking to myself, “this is nuts,” “this broad is crazy,” “why would she do that,” etc.
I thought I had it all figured out, but there was no way I could see where it was going. The ending was a total surprise, and I give the author kudos for that. I was leaning towards a three-star rating, but because of the superb conclusion I upped it to 3 ½ stars, rounded up to four! Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
This story is so messed up - in the best way!
I loved the complexity of the plot, the flawed characters, and satisfying ending. It’s worth sticking it out through a slower beginning. By the end, I was staying up until the wee small hours of the morning to finish it!
I really enjoyed this book and treated reading time for it as a special treat. It has been very well written and is very easy to follow. I didn't want o put it down and kept allowing myself just one more chapter... I will be looking for more by this author.
Undervalued at work and home, Maths teacher Anna decides to submit a dead student’s work to gain national recognition and appreciation from her artist husband Luis who she suspects of being involved with glamorous gallery curator Isabelle. Her life at college is also in trouble. Her manager has been sexually harassing her and now she has been embroiled in a complaints issue with a student which could see her losing her job.
To Anna, after experiencing an awful childhood, family is everything and she is fiercely protective of her own two children, determined to hold onto them despite her current difficulties.
This is a complex tale of betrayal and deception cleverly woven into a story that sees Anna being pitched from one crisis to another. She makes some surprising decision as she tries to cope with her situation which only seemed to push her deeper into trouble. When her husband’s mistress is found dead, she automatically becomes a suspect. But nothing is as it appears in a novel full of twists and turns. A great story with an unexpected surprise at the end.
My thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for an ARC of Unfaithful in exchange for an honest opinion.
A wife, husband, mistress, grad student and a cast of other characters that make you go hmm! In a good way. Anna will do what it takes for her marriage. Luis is having an affair. Both have secrets and it all unfolds with just the right level of suspense and sometimes shock.
Oh the twists and turns through this book. I could not but it down. A fun and solid domestic thriller to add to your tbr list now!
I have enjoyed other books by this authors so will never pass up the chance to read one of her books
This was great read and I will be looking out for the authors other novels.
Anna has the perfect life until it starts to do wrong and I can’t believe how wrong it goes. I was not even sure that I liked Anna at the beginning but gradually began to feel sorry for her. Anna is trying to save her marriage to Luis and her career but who can she trust?
When I thought I had it figured out the author threw in a curveball.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review

I loved this book! The plot was crazy, fast and hugely suspenseful.
I did get seriously frustrated with Anna at times, but her secrecy definitely added to the feeling of intensity for the reader and cranked up the pace!
The characters were so good, I didn't know who to trust even at the last page!
Barelli has a great talent of sucking the reader in and not letting go!
Wow, Wow and Wow! There is a lot going on with an unreliable narrator, unreliable secondary characters and a whole lot of crazy thrown in for good measure. Just as the book builds and you think you know what is going on it drops a substantial bomb and turns everything around! Great read!
I discovered Natalie Barelli's books on a whim on Amazon one day. What I didn't know was that I would be reading the 3 books I purchased in 3 days because I could not put them down. That is the case with Unfaithful. The book revolves around Anna a math professor, whose best student just passed away under suspicious circumstances. The book follows her life after his death at work and at home. This is a book that you have no idea "who done it", and the twists were not at all what I was expecting! If you love thrillers and suspense I would recommend any of Natalie Barelli's books to anyone. Trust me, you can't just read one.
Unfaithful by Natalie Barelli. Out on 27 Nov 2020.
Anna narrates this story.
Anna Sanchez and her husband, Luis, have a perfect life. A lovely house, they both have impressive careers and share two beautiful children. Anna is a young Maths professor; She and her PhD student Alex have been working to solve a complicated theory called the Pentti Stone which if they solve will produce a $500,000.00 prize, this will help them to become recognised and help Anna towards becoming a tenured professor.
But, before publication, Alex surprisingly dies.
Anna distraught goes straight to see her husband and accidentally discovers he is having an affair.
"Most women would fall to their knees in tears and throw him out of the house—but I can't bring myself to do it. I need this marriage to work to protect a terrible secret of my own, something that would destroy everything I've already sacrificed so much for. When the police arrive at my door asking questions about Alex's death that I can't answer, and threatening text messages start appearing on my phone, I know that someone close has been observing me very closely".
As the plot progresses, Anna's mental health takes a turn for the worse and Anna's meticulously organised life descends into freefall.
A book full of deception and doubt both exciting and compelling, this story will keep you captivated to the last full stop. I highly recommend it.
I want to thank NetGalley, Bookouture and author Natalie Barelli for a pre-publication copy to review.
My Review:
If I had to describe this book in one word I would say it was AMAZING!!!!! This is the first book I read by this author and wow, wow, wow!!!!! I will definitely be buying more of her books. This was a stand alone and not part of a series.
This book was about a woman whose husband is having an affair but she refuses to believe it. Good things start to happen to her and she chooses to ignore that her life is crumbling right before her eyes. Will she eventually confront her problems head on? Will she try to wish her problems away? What will she do? You will find this out and so much much by the end.
Ok so let’s talk about Anna. If I I found out my husband was cheating on me I would go crazy and destroy everything that is precious to him but not her. She is cool as a cucumber and she thinks she can make her husband fall back in love with her. I was definitely not crazy about her throughout most of the book. She tried to bury her head in the sand. But just wait and see as she does redeem herself by the end. Justice gets served in many ways. Let’s talk about plot. Who doesn’t love a book that has a three way love triangle in it? First thing that pops in my mind is who do you pick, your spouse or your lover. Oh and that ending. Wow, what an ending that was. Endings are my favorite part of the book. I love the surprises that it holds. It’s the key to the whole entire book. This book had so many twists and turns. My head is still spinning from that ending. I would have never guessed. Loved it!!!!!
Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Omg!
What did I just read???
Talk about suspenseful and intriguing and twisted and.....chilling. So many unpredictable things going on. And, the ending was priceless. Or, I should say, the ending left me speechless.
Definitely recommend this domestic thriller if you are in the mood to read a twisty, dark read.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I honestly can say this book left me speechless. All the characters were written in a manner which made you not like them and be suspicious of all of them. The book did seem to drag a bit in the middle but picked up nicely towards the end. Many twists and turns, some predictable some not.
