I want to start out by saying that regardless of the review I am giving this book, the writing is very solid. With that being said, I felt like a lot of the time I couldn't keep up. I'm not sure if it was because it was a genre that I don't normally read but a lot of the time I felt like there were terms being used that I was supposed to already know like this was a sequel and I felt out of the loop (although I'm sure there wasn't a loop in the first place). There were ENTIRELY too many characters, I felt like someone new was being introduced every few pages and it was making my head swim. The action scenes were always pretty interesting but I felt like I kept falling asleep on the couch during a movie and would wake up to watch the action scenes because they got loud. I know a lot of people liked this book and I can't sit here and say not to read it, but I do have to say that it wasn't for me.

Interesting read with a lead character in Lori who is morally grey, to say the least. In Mika she has an interesting counter part with a more sunny nature and he is able to bring out the human side in Lori. The world building was very nicely done within a story that came with a lot of twists and turns to keep you interested. It took me a little bit to get into it, but at a certain point the story took off and flew through the 400 or so pages.
A recommended read for anyone who likes post apocalyptic books mixed with enough mystery and intrigue to keep you guessing.
