I was not a fan of this book. First, the entire premise is cheating. Multiple characters have cheated on their spouse (FYI if you're sensitive to that). Second, Nicholas had absolutely no redeeming qualities. He cheated on his wife. He's an absentee dad. He's a bad husband and boyfriend. At no point did I understand why Nadia liked this man. The secondary cheating plot felt very shoehorned in to me. The neglect of the new baby was really sad to me and isn't really addressed at all. The author really just hand waved away the fact that the mother who chose to have the baby didn't love him at all, and the father never wanted him to begin with. Truly terrible people. The other thing that bothered me on top of all of these awful people is that the author also chose to write multiple instances of body shaming throughout the book. This was also labeled as a romance novel and it really isn't in my opinion. At least 80% of the book is devoted to how these relationships are in shambles. That's not really what I'm looking for if I see a book is marketed as a romance novel. I would highly recommend skipping this one.

I ended up getting an audio copy and listened to this May 11, 2022 thru May 14, 2022. I had high hopes, but the story fell a bit flat, predictable and boring.

I really enjoyed this book so much more than the books she has written recently. I would definitely recommend this book. I look forward to reading her other books.

I really didn’t love this book. I found it very repetitive and was never fully invested in the book or the characters.

I love Danielle Steel! Her books are very well written but easy to read. The characters are always fun, entertaining and believable.
This book is about how much forgiveness you are capable of and how much compromise you are willing to give.

I understand that a book is not necessarily a portrayal of real life but.......I do not think a woman with any character or sense of self would just "take him back". Even Hillary made Bill suffer. It's pretty obious that Danielle Steel's writing can cause strong emotions in her readers. This one is just about as negative as it can be. It's hard to try to be any thing but negative when the topic is so objectionable to me.

I enjoyed it very much!

A good read on how the betrayal of a cheating spouse can affect the entire family. Especially if it is done in the very public eye. A great delve into the dynamics of human emotion and the pull of love and desire.

This book was boring and repetitive. I wanted to like it but I couldn't get into it. It started off well but then got really slow. It was 2.5 stars for me

I haven't read a book by @officialdaniellesteel in quite some time, but this 💎💎💎💎💎 book reminded me why I love her books so much. I can't wait to dig into another one.

Fans of Daniele Steele will read this but not everyone will like it. While this is a quick read I felt the ending did a disservice to Nadia who struggled with a cheating husband, a pregnant mistress, and the media bringing sadness to her. Not a story I would recommend.

I like the book, but I thought I’d like it more when I read the synopsis. Her stories get more far fetched the more books she writes.

The Affair truly encapsulates what it means to love from the heart. The unpredictability of life is central to the storyline. It is especially true of Nadia and her sister Olivia whom are dealing with a great deal of hurt for similar reasons. The strength of the human heart and all it can endure is revealed through these sisters. Family love is displayed throughout. I look forward to reading Danielle’s books as they take me back in time to when I first discovered this author. I'm a Danielle Steel fan but this book was a little disappointing. I can't believe a mother and daughter would be such saints as to accept an affair, a baby from a mistress and betrayal from a husband. Rose McCarthy discovers her son-in-law is cheating on her daughter, Nadia. Rose's other daughters are a little neutral but these characters seem a little unrealistic. We are taught forgiveness but this one was just a little over the top for me. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a faireand honest review.

Dear Danielle Steel,

This is the 2nd book I have read by you and I will no longer entertain reading your books. I found the premise of the book interesting. A devoted husband has an affair with the young woman starring in his film and tows the line between his loving wife and his selfish costar, now pregnant with his son. The loving wife keeps letting him walk all over her while he is photographed everywhere with his girlfriend, 20 years younger than him.

As the reader, my issue was not with the story line. It kept my interest and as usual; you write powerful women who are very nearly perfect with a hidden secret or two. They are all well dressed, wealthy and beautiful. What you seem to despise are women who don't fit into that mold, and it has become clear in the two books I have read by you that a woman who is overweight or slightly off kilter should be called out and shamed. In this book, shamed by a 6yo, who thinks that despite her aunt's weight, she still thinks she is beautiful. Athena has close to the perfect relationship with Joe, as he is overweight, as well. She also may not wear beautiful clothing like her thin sisters, so she covers herself up with flowy clothing to cover up her weight.

Sadly, the fat shaming was not the only issue with this book. Almost from the first chapter, the story becomes very repetitive. Repeating details several times throughout each chapter. An example would be that we know Venetia has red hair. We are told several times in each chapter, as if the reader has forgotten from several sentences before that. We know that three of the sisters are tall and that Nadia is short. Again, several times in each chapter. It seemed that Ms. Steele was looking for space to fill or to get her word count up. The reader is told so many times that Athena and her partner, Joe, are not married that we begin to roll our eyes. The 6yo and 9yo daughters have full on adult conversations between them, discussing their Father and their theories on why he isn't around as much.

It feels like the author jumped ship with this book. Maybe her conservative values and opinions should stay out of her novels.

Great book by Danielle. Love all her stories

This book is brilliantly written about four sisters and their mother, five strong women in a family that comes together when necessary. Nadia, who is at the forefront of a scandal and her husband’s betrayal must face a future she hadn’t expected and learn who she truly is deep inside. This book has a depth of real-life situations offered in such a heartening, poignant, genuine way. It’s about family support, love, and forgiveness after the ultimate betrayal. It’s about strength of character and growing through the unpredictability of life. It’s also about how one person’s decision can affect so many. Great read.
