This was a quick read, but not one I ended up loving. What I liked was how the plot played out, but some of the things that happened in the book weren't super believable, at least to me. I don't hate the book, but it's not one that's going to come to mind when I make recommendations any time soon.
What a cute, fun story! Anything with a love triangle (for young adult genres) and I'm hooked. Thankful to NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.
Who doesn't dream of dating the most popular boy in school even if it means overlooking what is right in front of you and ignoring all of the signs that the popular guy may not be all that you hoped for. I thought that the author was able to allow us to see the process the main character went through in order to realize what and who is important in her life.. Great book for reluctant readers and for those looking for a light romance. I also appreciated that the main character was a computer coding genius. We need more girls in the computer field. Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
My Epic Spring Break (Up) was a quick read. I thought Rockaway did a nice job of progressing through the plot. The main character wasn't as believable as I would have liked. The free tattoo and T. Swift tickets seemed ridiculous....even with the short explanations given. I really like Jason and the other characters fell pretty flat for me. I didn't hate the book, it just didn't live up to similar 'girl-coding genius YA romance' books currently on the market.
Thanks for the ARC!
Quick, beach RomCom. Ashley has the rest of her life planned out so when a major event fizzles out, she decides to cut loose a little because, obviously, she has no control over anything. And she knows she's on the right track when her crush acts interested... or is he...yeah he is... or is he? Her spring break might just work out!
Readers should be pleasantly surprised with Kristin Rockaway’s latest offering.
Admittedly, the main character Ashley is a bit of a twit. She’s academically intelligent, but she’s a bit impulsive. Just before spring break, faced with a crushing blow to her summer plans, which seemingly could have a negative impact to her future academic goals, she decides to drop it all and take a walk on the wild side to explore boys and dating. When opportunity comes her way, she’s inspired to run after it.
She’s human and makes a few mistakes along the way. But she has a conscience and a lot of heart, which can easily win readers over. There are a few times where she catches herself and thinks, “Wait, what am I doing?! … Oh,no! What’s mom going say! … Maybe this wasn’t such a great idea after all.” These realizations, paired with her wonderful cast of friends help make for many funny moments throughout.
Told with wit, this book is compulsively readable and thoroughly enjoyable.
I really enjoyed this story of a girl trying to figure herself out and hanging with friends. I loved that she was smart and dealing with family issues too. I loved that she tried new things and made mistakes . She was able to talk with her dad and mom. She also messed up with her mom and had to make things better and she found love during spring break with a friend. I think that zig zag was a bit much and talked about overkill . I liked that she asked for help and had fun along the way.
