Leslie North consistently brings great characters and passionate romance to life. As a big fan North's, her name provokes an automatic one-click from me. I am always entertained. And new to me author is an added bonus.
This was a suspenseful story where our main characters get their HEA but they have quite the journey first. Once I started I had a hard time putting it down.
Interesting story and characters. Lots of intrigue, action, danger, and suspense. Intriguing storyline and kept my attention.
Lake is pregnant and the father of her baby is dead seemly by an accidental crash but she thinks it’s murder and that he was involved in money laundering through the charitable foundation that she runs. She confides in his twin brother Drake and together they start to look into what has happened
I loved Lake, she has had a difficult past and is honest when she feels she is in danger but is also able to defend herself when she needs to. She is intelligent and determined to find out what has been happening whilst seeming so real and relatable
Drake has had a bit of a nightmare having to come home and try to sort out what his brother has done. He is protective of Lake and is determined to keep her safe which is something I loved him for. He also starts to confront his past and realise what is important in his life and in his future
This novella is fast paced and full of drama and danger that had me hooked and desperately hoping that the good guys would win but it feeling like a close race at times. The twists and turns meant that there was always something new and it felt like a bit of detective strongly trying to put everything together
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a fast paced action filled romance with enough drama and intrigue to pull you in and not let you go
Protecting My Brothers Babies
by Katie Knight
Suspense, mystery and a bit of romance thrown in, makes for the perfect story.
Called home to bury his brother was supposed to be a quick no fuss leave from his unit. Unfortunately Drake found nothing but road blocks to stop him. Between the fraud found in the family business, his brothers Devons last fling showing up pregnant along with announcing his death may have been a murder. Now he needs to fill in as CEO and fix the wrongs Devon have created.
Lake Bailey, her boss and ex-lover is dead. And she is thinking his accident is no accident but murder. His brother turns out to be his identical twin. After the shock is settled she informs him about the company corruption and she is carrying his brothers baby. Worst, she’s afraid that someone is following her. So she’s surprised that Drake wants to protect her and the baby.
It was a great read, both characters were incredibly sweet and determined. This is the best story I’ve read in awhile. And if her other books are this good, I found a new author to add to my list of reading.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The premise of this one had me excited and I was keep to try a book by this author, but unfortunately I just couldn't really get invested with this one or connect with the main characters and so I struggled to finish. Thanks to Author, Publisher and NetGalley for allowing me a copy of this ARC.
3.5 stars
This was fun and mysterious and sexy. To be honest i sometimes find the MCs a bit annoying but overall it was a good read.
The investigation stuff was my least favorite because it didn't felt real nor credible; that part took me out of the story several times.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is great! Super sexy read that I recommend for any romance reader. I love this author's strong female characters!
Excellent job! I loved the story. It is well written and the chemistry is great..I highly recommend the book.
Navy Seals, Corporate Espionage, and Babies... oh my!
A Navy SEAL must return to his family's billion dollar empire to help setting his twin brother's estate after his untimely passing. Once he gets started, however, he gets a visitor... a pregnant visitor, who is carrying his brother's twin babies. She's alone, has nowhere to turn to, and fears his brother's death was not an accident; she has reason to believe he was murdered. The two must live together to keep each other safe, but her eyes and his rock solid body, make it difficult to keep focused on the real issue. Now, he feels an obligation to his brother to solve the mystery, but in the process, he uncovers something much larger than expected. A web of lies and secrets, some held by the beautiful woman he can't stop thinking about who is carrying his brother's babies.
I am a fan of single parent books and although I don't usually like the tropes where someone falls for the ex's sibling, this one seemed to work for me.
Lake had had a relationship with business mogul Devon. When he dies, she gets suspicious because of what she has uncovered in her time working for the charitable foundation of the company. She takes her issues to Devon's brother only to find Drake is his identical twin. Even more surprising is that Drake and Devon only have their looks in common. Drake is a SEAL and has disavowed his family. He does have honor and integrity running through his veins.
He is determined to do right by Lake. First things first is to protect her from whatever Devon was involved in. And then their hearts get tangled up in everything. Through some twists and turns they eventually end in a HEA.
A bit of suspense mixed in with friends to lovers. Good flow to the story. Enjoyable read.
This book is pretty much standard fare for the genre, but mostly enjoyable. I am always a little putoff by stories in which someone falls in love with their recently deceased partner's twin sibling - it often feels like they are simply replacing one with the other. The scenario in this book is a little different in that Lake wasn't in love with Drake's twin brother, but it is still a little weird. They mystery surrounding Devon's death was a little weak and it wasn't really explained how Lake knew who the bad guy was - it was rather convenient how she knew at exactly the moment she needed to. I did like her backstory though and how it came in handy when she found herself in peril. I also liked that Drake understood why she kept that part of herself secret rather than using it as an excuse to push her away and create more drama for the story. Drake is a likeable guy and it was easy to root for him in both his personal and professional pursuits. Overall, this is an enjoyable book if you are looking for a good weekend read.
Another great book by a great author. This book left me speechless at one point. Could not put it down.
Engaging story, this one has mystery, angst, drama, romance and a small amount of steam. There were a few questions as the book moved through the first few chapters, most were answered by mid stage. All in all a good read, ignore the title and cover, grab this for the story.
Drake is back in Dallas dealing with the estate of Devon his late twin brother. Having distanced himself between his family and the family business to be a Navy SEAL he could do without the hassle of clearing his condo and selling the company. But he's the only one left so he just needs to get through it as quick as possible. That is until Lake turns up at Devon's condo and she's taken aback by just how much he looks like his brother (not knowing that they were twins). After telling him that she thinks that Devon was murdered and that the company has some suspicions transactions, she drops the bombshell that she's pregnant with Devon's baby.
Fearing that there are people out to get her she has moved into a hotel, but Drake decides it would be better for her to stay with him so they can figure out this mess together. Whilst they might have been twin brothers, their personalities and values were very different and Lake is left wishing she had met Drake rather than Devon.
Just what had Devon been doing at the company? Who is after Lake? Is Drake really ready to say goodbye to Dallas as soon as possible?
Protecting his Brother’s Babies by Katie Knight is a contemporary romance that brings in Suspense, military and business Elements to make a riveting story. The characters are interesting and the story is unique. It is a little over the top with so many twists and surprises. Yet, ultimately delivers on the romance.
When Drake got a surprise visitor he had no idea how much his life could change. All he wanted to do was handle the company's sale since his brother died and get back to his SEAL teammates. Then he met Lake.
Read to find out how much Lake could change the wants and desires on Drake.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I read this book from start to finish, although admittedly I did re-read the first chapter about three times because I struggled to get into it as I felt it was a bit of a slow starter, My decision was completely changed the further I got into the book, I found it to be well written, the story flowed pretty well! Cant wait to see what more this author has to offer!
So this was 1st time reading from this arthur.
I couldn't get into it. Doesn't mean it's a bad story but just not my kind or maybe not what I'm in the mood for today
I loved this book and couldn’t put it down. I predominantly read fantasy books but thought I would try something a bit different and this was a great decision. I don’t enjoy just straight forward romances as I find them a bit boring but with the action and mystery involved it had enough of a twist to pull me in. Would definitely read more of these books.
