I really enjoyed this book. I have read romance books with SEALs in them before and had somewhat of an idea of what to expect for this one. Well, I was wrong, Katie Knight went in a direction that differs from the usual. Most SEAL romances that I have read focused on action and the male protag was always defined by his identity as a SEAL. In this novel Drake, the male protag, joined the SEALs to create a life of honesty and compassion for others, unlike his brother, who was selfish and corrupt. What I liked about this book was that the babies and SEALs did not consume the plot, yes Lake was pregnant, yes Drake was a SEAL, but they showed development and a story of their own. Lake is compassionate and Drake is honest, and they find more of their own identity with each other, especially Drake.

Overall this book was different than expected and that is okay, more than okay, this book stands on its own. I would suggest this novel to readers who want a little more than just a super ALPHA SEAL.

Protecting His Brother's Babies is very enjoyable. Lake, the heroine, has overcome a difficult childhood and is a lovely person who finds herself in a bad situation - pregnant and fairly certain that her boss was murdered. Drake has been estranged from his family for years, entering the military right after college to put himself far away from them. As the story progresses, it's clear that Drake and his twin brother Devin are totally opposite of each other in terms of their characters and values. Drake plans to put the company in order, sell it and return to the Seals. As the magnitude of Devin's crimes becomes clear and someone attempts to kidnap Lake, Drake finds his feelings for Lake are stronger than he wants them to be. Both Lake and Drake have a hard time trusting others because of their childhoods. It's interesting to see how each of them grow past their preconceptions and fears on the way to their happy ending. And you are going to be surprised by the identity of the criminal mastermind!

The main character's names are Drake and Lake. I don't know if it was intentional to have them rhyme or not but it was kind of cute. I didn't like that Drake's twin brother ended up being one of the bad guys. Otherwise I really enjoyed reading, Protecting His Brother's Babies.
