This was a cute little bedtime book for little ones and I think kids will definitely like the soft colors and the elephants.
This is a bedtime story that my granddaughter and I snuggled up to read at naptime. It started off well, with the baby elephant and his mother seeing things outside as the day ended. She liked that they were together lying in the bed reading a bedtime story. The rhyming was good and we had a nice cadence going, then all of a sudden it was like a different story. The rhyming went kaput, it was forced and was not in a rhythm to read easily. The story changed to occupations/careers that the elephant could do when it grew up. Well, forget about going to sleep, it was time to talk about what I want to do when I grow up. I will say we loved the illustrations. They were colourful, large and looked like felt cutouts stitched together. So, I have mixed feelings about his one. We enjoyed it, but as a bedtime story, it didn't quite work for us.
This is a gentle, sweet bedtime story for the littlest listeners. The illustrations have an engaging appeal that adds to the book. The book’s pace encourages a child to relax, go to sleep and have good dreams about all that they can do. This is a title that adults may want to add to their collection of children’s bedtime stories.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.
This one would make for a great bedtime story. With great illustrations & a fun story it hits all the marks. The only criticism is I wish it flowed a bit better that’s what made it a little hard to read at bedtime. I kept wanting it to rhyme a bit better. But that’s not a biggie that will make me not want this in our library. Still a great bedtime story.
Each night is waiting for you to follow your heart. All you have to do is close your sleepy eyes to start.
A sleeping ritual for your little one is to read and better book about sleep. When you sleep, you dream and your dreams are the start of adventure ready to be had.
Colorfully illustrated and baby friendly.
A special thank you to Sourcebooks Kids and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review
Simple bedtime storybook. The positives of this book are the vocabulary and the non-gendered dreams the parent has for their child. The illustrations are not busy, perfect for young children. This book would be better for a toddler, but could easily be read to an infant as well.
This book is on the sweetness overload level. It's a perfect book to snuggle up with and say goodnight to your precious child. It was created by Sandra Magsamen, bestselling author of "Welcome Little One!"
Written in rhyme, this bedtime lullaby is destined to be a favourite to read over and over again. The heartwarming pictures are darling and full of love. It would be a perfect gift for a baby shower, on a birthday or at Christmas.... any time really. It reassures a child that they are special and a gift to be treasured. I highly recommend this book.
A very tender rhyming bedtime story it ushers children into sleep and asks them to dream of all the wonderful things they can be.
Pretty much an unqualified success, this was a really warm poem to whisper in the twilight. Spoken from a parent to a child it's a really pleasant piece, saying how the night's fantasies can show the youngster how they can be anything they want to be when they wake up – but to have that, and to get to the world of dreams in the first place, they have to close their eyes and nod off first. I could pick at a couple of less than perfect rhymes and a loss of the beat once or twice, and perhaps the visuals are too bright and bold and shareable and declaim-over-able for such a book, but on the whole the words are fine. The felt-stitched, cut-out aesthetic really works, though, and while the story will make a youngster laugh in the daytime (especially how so many animals sleep on their backs with their legs in the air), I can also see this being a very successful sedative.
