I’ve enjoyed this series in the past. I knew what I was getting into. Unfortunately, it has started to wear thin on me. This character has not shown any growth or change other than “justice system bad”. I think the idea of reading the POV of the incel and woman hating has finally started to get to me. We know how he sees things. Unlike other series’ written from the criminal POV, I can’t find any reason to continue to read the internal thoughts of this particular person anymore. While at first it was kind of interesting to experience, that experience isn’t adding anything new anymore.
Ahhhhh holy crap how do these books keep getting better and better? I usually think the first book in a series is good and sequels pale in comparison, but not here. I have no idea how Caroline Kepnes does it, Joe Goldberg is fascinating! I ran through every emotion reading this, and was constantly kept guessing. I was only right about one small thing, otherwise constantly surprised, shocked, and staying up way too late because I needed to read more.
Joe has settled on Bainbridge Island, and of course has his sights on a new woman, far more stable than his exes. But, not without challenges naturally. And boy are some a dozy! Not to mention, his own past causing problems. of course specifically the Quinn’s. I really don’t want to say anything much about the plot and give anything away.
From the very beginning of You Love Me, I was drawn in, even more than You, and Hidden Bodies, I was never bored, and the only thing I would change is at the end say another book is coming! I need more Joe Goldberg, please and Thank You!
Caroline‘s unique writing style gives a cold blooded killer heart. Yes, Joe is back and I’m really to admit I’m addicted. Caroline didn’t disappoint because You Love Me was worth the wait. The twists and turns will keep flipping pages like it’s a second job. Joe is such a complex character that even when you think you understand him, you don’t. That’s because of Caroline. This whole series has proven to be five solid stars across the board. I will definitely revisit Joe’s world often.
Having not read any of the previous books I felt lost in this one. I tried reading it but had to eventually just stop because I couldn’t get in to it. I am sure if you are a fan of the series and Caroline Kepnes you will love the book.
I couldn't get into this one, sadly. I LOVE "You". I recommend it to everyone. I recently read "Hidden Bodies" and...I didn't love it. It was derivative and felt contrived (don't get me started on the fact that no one found that "mugofpiss" all that time later...) But I barrelled through and thought maybe this could be an interesting extension. Then, from the first chapter, you realize what went down between the events of the last novel and now, and it smacks of heavier contrivance just to keep Joe's story going and...I think I'm officially over Joe. I just don't care about following him through further misadventures anymore, because he never learns and it's the same story, different cast. And then there's going to be another novel!? I can't. I'm sorry.
For those who loved "Hidden Bodies", you'll continue to love this series. For those who got a little punch drunk and tired after the second book...skip it and remember the love you have for the first book and move on.
Joe is back to his usual self. California always seemed more reflective of the author's experiences than this character's, but Bainbridge Island seems right up Joe's alley, and it's good to see librarian rep that feels accurate (no shushing! librarians think they're hip! it's mostly helping seniors with computer issues nowadays!). If the book has one flaw, it's that the book has too much going on, most of which happens right at the end, but I can't say any of it wasn't foreshadowed. I loved You when it was one of my top ARCs from BEA and I'm glad Kepnes is back to form with this third installment.
Jaw dropping. Mind blowing. Intense. Everything you want it to be!!
If you liked YOU, you will love this!
Another great book from Caroline Kepnes. The voice that she has created for Joe is so unique and captivating. If you're a fan of this series, this book will not disappoint.
Joe is back again with his same tricks. I enjoyed the storyline and the Joesque ending. This book started off great, got a little slow in the middle, but then Locke sup for a fantastic ending that I was definitely not expecting.
Up front- I did not read the previous books but I binged the series. Also up front- no spoilers from me. If you like me are new to the novels, know that they are all in Joe Goldberg's twisty psychopathic little head. He's moved to Bainbridge Island courtesy a payoff from his ex/s family (poor Love!). A decision to volunteer at the local library brings him into contact with Mary Kay, the librarian for whom he will build the Whisper Room. She's lucky to have Melanda for a best friend (although Melanda's not so lucky that she's MK's friend). Joe wants MK, her friends are not certain that's a good thing, and it's not. NO it's not. Joe is often crude in his descriptions of people (especially women) but he's also funny in spots. This is twisty and compulsively readable with a terrific combination of a character you love to hate and a propulsive plot. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Can't wait to see more.
Joe, Joe, Joe... you are a crazy MoFo!
You Love Me is the third book in the You and Hidden Bodies series. This book picks up where Hidden Bodies left off, Joe getting out of jail and the Quinn family paying him off to stay away from Love.
Joe is on the prowl again and becomes obsessed with librarian Mary Kay. Another woman, surrounded by toxic people, that Joe wants gone but swears he will NOT kill.
Joe is still crazy, still a stalker, and still always having conversations in his head. He’s always plotting but always trying to convince himself he’s a good, patient, empathetic person.
Joe is so flawed and he always falls for women who are so so flawed as well. The madness in his head and the darkness that follows him always makes for an interesting read. Will Joe finally find love? Will he stay out of trouble? Can he actually NOT kill?!
I am really looking forward to see what Netflix does with the third season of this and how it will correlate with this book.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you @netgalley and @randomhouse for an ARC for my honest review. Out 4/6.

This series can be so hard to read. Either I'm disapproving of Joe or laughing at his observations. He doesn't have a problem with stalking but can clearly see other immoral acts like hanging around teenage girls.
My big problem with this book is his newest obsession, Mary Beth. I didn't like her. There were times when I wanted to reach in the book and shake her by her shoulders for her decisions. She has the most obnoxious husband in the world. And her steadfast devotion to him is aggravatingly realistic. There's a good chance, reader, that you know this woman. I know I do.
The other characters are hilarious foils to Joe. His snark about them is also hilarious. And they keep him and me on our toes.

I was able to read this book thanks to NetGalley. I was SO thrilled to get this one as this Janine if my favorite series of all time. I couldn’t wait to see what Joe was up to.
After being paid off by Love’s family to leave her and their son alone once he is released from prison, Joe goes to Washington State and meets, you guessed it, another woman named Mary Kay who he feels is the one. But there are complications... aren’t there always? Has Joe changed ? Can he stop himself from hurting someone and will he find his happily ever after finally?
I loved this one though the first will always be my favorite. You must read it if you are a fan of the series.
Thanks again to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
Trifecta! Caroline Keynes has done it again! I loved Joe in both You and Hidden Bodies. I was beyond psyched to see a third book coming! I was lucky to receive an ARC from #netgalley! Joe leaves behind his sorrows in LA and starts a new life in the Pacific Northwest. He focuses on “being good” and finding true love. His new adventures are dark and funny and typical Joe obsessive! This book has it all, dark humor, great music, literary references, and dash of graphic violence. A great pool read for Spring break! Joe fans, don’t miss out, get your hands on a copy of You Love Me!
That's right, Joe is baaack! Now he lives on an island, off the coast of Washington state and he's living the quiet life. No, really! He gets a job volunteering at a local library. Being that he is, well...Joe, he's noticed and taken a liking to the head librarian, Mary Kay. Has Joe really changed? Is he going to go after Mary Kay with his usual determination and internal scheming? You'll have to read this to find out!
What I love most about this series is, (and I suspect it's the same reason as a lot of other readers), that Joe is written in such a way, that we are actually rooting for the guy. In his twisted head, which we have access to, his thoughts make sense-not in a way that represents a lot of moral thinking, but sense just the same. In his thoughts, he's really trying to do his best to change. At least, at first.
Like the other two books, there are a lot of cultural references and song tidbits-things like that, and I was happy to get most of them. Joe also has a way of referring to events or people with certain nicknames and that cracks me up because I do the same. I was giggling over the moniker "Strawberry Killer" but I can't tell you why right now.
The only issue I had with this book and it's a small one, is that it became a bit difficult at times to follow the discussions because Joe was acting as another person. Does that make any sense? It slowed down my reading just a bit, because I wanted to be sure exactly what was happening. I think this is due to the second person point of view, and also because I'm obsessed with getting everything straight in my head where Joe is concerned. In fact, I may be a bit obsessed with Joe, in general.
That's it, that's all I'm going to say. I don't want to spoil any of the deliciousness that awaits you. After all, YOU LOVE ME and I don't want to do anything to ruin that.
Highly recommended!
Available everywhere books are sold, Tuesday, April 6th.
*Thank you to the author, publisher and to NetGalley for the e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest feedback. This is it!*
Joe is back. JOE IS BACK. I loved this book even though it caused a couple of late-nights because I couldn't stop. If you're a fan of You and Hidden Bodies, you will not be disappointed in the return of Mr. Goldberg. YLM finds our hero (?) in Bainbridge, WA where he - in his, uh, unique Joe style - has his sights set on local librarian Mary Kay DiMarco. She's the one for him. Joe just needs to make sure she knows it. Hard to talk about any more plot without giving spoilers away - just know that everything you love (?) about Joe is back in this third book. Funny, suspenseful, and, like the previous books, written in unique second-person voice. How does Caroline Kepnes do that so well? You Love Me will be a book everyone's buzzing about.
Joe is back!!!
If you have read the first two books in the YOU series, you will love book #3, You Love Me. Loved it!!
Yes, Joe is back, He has lived in New York and LA, now after his prison release he wants to make a fresh start. His new location is a small town near Seattle. He longs for a simple life, in his Cedar Cove community. Joe wants to be good. And yes he will struggle to be good.
Because of Joe's love of books he finds a volunteer job with the local library. And it doesn't take long before he has found a new obsession, librarian Mary Kay. He will be patient and make Mary Kay fall in love with him. No matter who or what he has to do, he will win the heart of Mary Kay. No one will get in his way.
Joe is the character we all love to hate.
I was so pleased to read the end of the book and know that the series will continue.
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and give an honest review.
Caroline Kepnes does it again with her character of Joe and is ever evolving story. I absolutely loved the new setting and occupation. I cannot wait to listen to the audiobook since his voice is great to be heard as well as written paper. His story fascinates me because you love and hate him as the same time and I enjoy when his story gets brought back to life each time. Thank you so much for the early e-copy.
Our favorite villian we hate to love is back and he's just as snarky and witty as ever!
Joe Goldberg has left LA and is back on his own again after being paid off by the Quinns to walk away from Love and their son. No sooner does he get settled in a quaint little town that couldn't be further from the pretentiousness of LA or the pace of NYC does he set his sights on his latest victim... I mean love interest.
Mary Kay at first reminded me a lot of Beck, but the similarities felt superficial once I got to know her. Mary Kay is a librarian, well educated, independent, and a good decade plus older than the women Joe typically goes for. Will he finally meet his match? A woman that is not only good to him, but good for him? One that makes him a better person?
I loved that this book was so entirely different from the first two, but still totally felt in line with the Joe Goldberg we've come to know and love. The story felt fresh and new but there were enough tie ins to the prior books to keep it a great addition to the trilogy.
Admittedly, I wish I hadn't read Hidden Bodies so recently. However, I am one that prefers reading series very spaced apart so I suspect that this won't be an issue for most readers.
I often struggle to stay interested in series but Kepnes does a great job of building Joe's character enough to keep him entertaining and to introduce new characters to keep the story unique. I do feel that this book, as well as Hidden Bodies, were too long, but that was my biggest gripe.
I'll be really curious to see what portions of You Love Me the You Netflix series adopts as the second season really did diverge from the plotline of the book series. I'm also excited to see if Kepnes decides to continue this story or leave it be. She certainly gave herself room for another in the series, so it'll be interesting to see how that plays out.
Thank you to Random House Publishing Group and NetGalley for a copy of this novel.
I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This novel is a psychological thriller about a stalker who ruins the lives
of his unwitting victims. Compelling read.
