Three Missing Days is an edgy, action packed conclusion to the The Pelican Harbor series. I recommend reading this series in order but if you are not able to, the author fills in the backstory well. I love the setting on the Gulf Coast near Mobile and the characters are likable and realistic with an interesting background. Police Chief Jane Hardy and Reid Dixon met again in the first book after being apart for fifteen years. Their son Will would love for them to get married but there are obstacles in the way. One obstacle is removed when Reid's estranged and demanding wife Lauren is killed. The problem is that the murder is pinned on Will. Jane has to stay out of the investigation and her detective Augusta is very competent to run the investigation. As the story begins, there is a house fire where the homeowner died, actually murdered, and a firefighter died as well. As both cases are investigated, it becomes possible that they may be related. The question is why someone wanted the two women dead and why implicate Jane's son. The mystery to unravel is a complicated one that sends Jane and the others in many directions to investigate, including people from the past...Jane, Reid, and their parents' past. This is a story of revenge, hate, danger and action interspersed with moments of faith and deepening love. Questions from the past are answered to round out the series. Another Colleen Coble winner.

Earth to Jane: Get over yourself. My biggest beef with this series is the heroine with a chip on her shoulder the size of a redwood. It's getting really old. The series started out really great. The plot was original and the setting beautiful. The second book was a dud, lots of plot holes and disjointed narrative. This book wants you to take some pretty far-fetched leaps, when in reality you know this could not possibly happen. I had to tell myself "Stop yelling at the book. It's not the book's fault these characters are so stupid." Wait, yes it is.
A bit of history here. If you plan on reading the other books in this series, just skip this paragraph.
Jane Hardy and Reid Bechtol were part of a cult as children. They were "married" when Jane was 15 and she gave birth to a son, Will, who she was told had died. He didn't. Reid and Will have found Jane and want to reunite. Jane, as you can imagine, has major trust issues.
Chief of Police, Jane Hardy, has her hands full. The whole situation with Reid's wife, Lauren, returning from the dead just as Jane and Reid are growing close is bad enough, but Reid, the father of her son, Will, has withheld information from her and she is not sure she can trust him. Then she is called to the scene of an probable arson fire with a dead body. At least that is something to take her mind off her personal problems.
When the pesky wife turns up dead and Jane and Reid's son, Will, is the only suspect, things take a decidedly nasty turn. Jane can't take part in the investigation, but it sure looks like someone has it in for her and Reid and is using Will. When it all circles back to the cult, Jane has some tough questions for both her estranged mother and her father, but the answers lead her right back to the murders in her own backyard.
Three Missing Days is the third book in Colleen Cobles' Pelican Harbor series. It continues to follow the story of Chief Jane Hardy, Reid Dixon, and their son, Will. Jane and Reid were raised in a cult, escaping as teens right after Jane delivered Will. They were separated as Jane left with her father and Will with Reid. Reunited fifteen years later, they are learning about one another, and falling in love again. Unfortunately the cult may not be done with them yet.
Colleen Coble often sets her books in places readers would want to vacation, and develops characters that readers would enjoy befriending, along with some pretty intense villains. Three Missing Days will not disappoint her fans, or those to whom she is a new author. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.
This is the third book in the Pelican Harbor Series and boy is it a good one. There is lots of mystery, conflict, family drama, revenge, murder and an unexpected surprise that makes a perfect ending. As always the writing flows easily and tells a compelling story. The nice thing about a series is the reader has the opportunity to see the characters grow and develop as they face different challenges. Colleen Coble has proved once again she is a master storyteller.

I really love when a romantic suspense book keeps me intrigued and engaged from beginning to end, and this one certainly did! It is the third book in the Pelican Harbor series, and although it can be read as a standalone, I think that the relationships between the characters and the reference to the cult will make sense if the series is read in order. Jane Hardy is the Chief of Police and has to investigate a heartbreaking arson murder. But the worst is yet to come when her teen son Will is arrested for the murder of his former stepmother Lauren. Jane and Reid, Will’s father, are determined to prove that Will was set up, but Jane’s hands are full with the first murder investigation as well as finding out what her mother is hiding. Apparently, unknown to Jane, her mom stole something from the cult and also drugged Jane during that time so that Jane has totally lost three days of her life. Finding out what happened during those three days is pivotal to the mystery. The mystery itself is multi-layered and totally engrossing. The entire book was fast-paced with a conclusion that tied up any loose ends about relationships as well as solving all of the mysteries in the story. There was a lot of emotion in this book between Jane and Reid, especially when Will was arrested and when Jane had to confront her mother. The entire series was fascinating and included encouraging insight into God’s character, including the theme that He has a plan for our lives and can always be trusted. Fans of the author and the series will not want to miss this one for sure! Fans of romantic suspense will be drawn into this tale of love and secrets that have to be exposed.

Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the ARC. I really enjoy this series even with all the Christian faith mixed in. I enjoy reading about Jane and her family and what's to come. The mysteries to be solved. And cannot forget Pete. Love Pete. Happy to see Pete had more time in this story.
This is the third book in a series and it does not read well on its own. Much of the plot in this book relies on knowing what happened in the previous two. There is backstory added from time to time but readers will not appreciate the issues in this novel without having read the previous ones.
While there are a couple of murders in this novel, the plot deals much more with the past events in the lives of Jane and Reid than it does the current events. There is much about the cults both of them were involved in. In that sense, Jane's personal issues are much more prominent than the police investigation. The investigation into the most important murder is handled by others so we do not see much of the process.
I don't like it when suspense happens because of lack of thinking by the heroes. Jane not answering a call from a friend in a timely fashion when she certainly could have (or let Reid do so since he was along). Also, looking at crucial evidence in an unsecured location and leaving it out in the open. It was no wonder suspense ensued. And then there was Jane thoughtlessly causing noise when they were sneaking up on bad guys. Of course, the bad guys got away.
This is a novel for readers who like one concentrating on relationship issues stemming from previous experiences, especially in the context of family. The strongest aspect of this novel a good exploration of trusting God when things go bad. Jane's faith is not strong and readers experience her struggle over her lack of confidence in God and herself.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Chief of Police Jane Hardy's faith is tested when her son is suspected of murder. I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is the conclusion of a suspenseful trilogy. Jane is a strong and independent woman but will need her faith to keep her safe. I like seeing her continuing relationship with her ex-Reid as they work together behind the scenes to help their son. I also like that there are actually three mysteries for Jane and her small Alabama police force to solve. As Jane unearths her past, the danger to Jane and her family increases. This is an excellent Christian romantic suspense mystery.
The third of Police Chief Jane Hardy adventures, with a house fire killing a woman and fire fighter. As the investigation unfolds, Jane’s personal family history is once again caught up in the drama, with previous readers aware of her back story. It’s another gentle crime instalment of the Pelican Harbor series by the prolific author Colleen Coble. Despite its publicity as a mystery thriller, it is a romantic suspense with numerous god references that detract from the plot. With a schmaltzy ending and lacking in tension and gravitas, a disappointing two-star rating. With thanks to NetGalley and the author for a preview copy for review purposes. All opinions expressed herein are freely given and totally my own.
My thoughts (lvh): This story is the conclusion to Ms Coble's outstanding series. Fans will want to read these books in order since there's storylines that run through all three books. This was a page-turner I couldn't put down.
Ms Coble is a best-selling, award-window with good reason. If you love romantic suspense, you will love this series.
I was given a copy free and all opinions are my own.
This is the third in the Pelican Harbor series. Personally, I highly encourage you to read the previous books in the series as there is important backstory you will appreciate knowing.
Intense suspense, intriguing mystery, past secrets, sweet romance.....and, heartwarming family dynamics between Jane, Reid and Will.
What demons do they need to overcome to find peace?
Will answers they find give them closure?
Colleen Coble writes with a faith based emphasis that is refreshing to read.

I was excited to return to Pelican Point and catch up with Jane and Reid! Colleen Coble did not disappoint me on this book. She has always been one of my go-to authors. Three Missing Days is intriguing and has you looking at the characters and thinking "what are they hiding?" The suspense was gripping and kept me reading past my bedtime! I absolutely loved the ending - it was perfect!
A stunning conclusion to the trilogy! I've enjoyed reading the stories of these characters and glad that the author made it a trilogy and didn't try to do it in one book. there are so many things going on with the relationships that you really get invested.
I honestly hope some other characters get their own stories in the future :)
This was a great conclusion to the series. I have to admit I hated the quasi-cliffhangers the first two books were so I was extra anxious to get to the end of this book but the ending was perfect.
This book was quite suspenseful. Some things came up that I never expected and Coble kept me guessing for the most part. I did figure out who one bad guy was - but there was so much more to it that I was still holding my breath.
I really did love the second chances this book series provided for Jane and Reid but I'm terrible at cliffhangers so it is no surprise that I struggled a little. But I know some people enjoy that suspense and tension.
I will admit that the cult background was a little different and even difficult for me, but overall this was a good series. I really did love Reid's strong faith.
I received an advanced copy of this book through the publisher. This is my honest review.
This is the third in a series by Colleen Coble. I missed the first two books but plan on reading them. By coming in late I feel as I missed alot but I dd enjoy this book once I started putting people and past events together. Jane Hardy is the Chief of Police for Pelican Bay. She has been recently reunited with her ex Reid Dixon and her 15 year old son Will. They are working on rebuilding their relationship when several things happen that could tear their world apart. Jane is called out to a fire where a young woman and a firefighter lose their lives. Reid's ex wife Lauren shows up. Members of a cult that Jane and Reid used to belong to appear in the area. Then Lauren is murdered and Will is implicated in her death. Jane and Reid are frantic to prove their son innocent. And Jane struggles to remember three days missing from her memory from just before Will is born. What happened during those three days...and why can't she remember? The tension is high and I couldn't stop reading as everything raced to an exciting conclusion and the story lines were all tied up.
This is a really good romantic suspense book. I don't read many Christian authors, but I do read and enjoy Colleen Coble. Her stories are always exciting and the romance sweet. I spent the winter in Fairhope/Foley area one year and fell in love with the area so it was fun to revisit it...even though it was a backdrop for murder!
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Great finale to the Pelican Harbor series.
This series was my first experience with this author-but definitely not my last.
Great character development - loved Jane, Reid and Will - even Janes Dad.!
Mystery and suspense with a well written love story - what more could you ask for?
Three Missing Days
by Colleen Coble
Book 3 in the Pelican Harbor series
Rating: 4/5
Yes! The thrilling conclusion to this riveting series from Colleen Coble. I was excited to read what happened next and get some closure. There's been mystery after mystery involving Chief Jane, Reid and their son, Will, but I was really hoping for some resolutions and the author did not disappoint. I highly recommend reading the first two books before reading this one or else you may be a bit lost. (Warning: since this is a continuing story, there are some spoilers if you have not read the previous books.)
When Chief of Police Jane Hardy begins to investigate the deaths of two people in a house fire, something smells of foul play. But as she digs deeper to find the truth, Jane's personal life becomes even more complicated with the reappearance of Lauren, Reid's wife who abandoned the family. Jane's heart can't take too much more with her uncertain relationship with Reid until Will is accused of a horrific murder. Jane and Reid must race to gather evidence to clear their fifteen-year-old's name and get him released.
When confronted with her past, Jane realizes she is missing three days in her memory that are just blank. Can Jane figure out what happened during those missing days? Are those missing days somehow connected to something even worse? In the midst of it all, can Jane and Reid's relationship survive all this stress?
Ahhh! Can you handle it? For me, this book was very good and helped tie up loose ends, but I also had a harder time getting into the story (since I had to remember what had happened before). However, once I was a few chapters in, I could not stop reading because the story started moving faster. I could feel Jane's pain at feeling helpless to defend her son who she only recently reconnected with. I could feel Reid's agony at not being able to be there for his son who was being set up for a crime he didn't commit. I always love how real the author's characters are - their real doubts and fears about God's faithfulness in the darkest of times. The rollercoaster of emotions is something we all go through when our lives don't turn out the way we think they should.
This book was good, but I do not think it was the best of the three; hence, the 4 stars. However, I loved the closure I got at the end and I loved to see the character growth. You will still definitely want to read this book after reading the first two to find out what happens.
Highly recommend this Christian suspense with romance, action, and mystery.
My thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.
4.5 stars
This is the third book in the Pelican Harbor series by Colleen Coble.
I really came into this book with no expectations. This was a new author for me. And I found it cleverly written with a lot of heart.
This focuses mostly on the Chief of Police Jane Hardy and her family. A local murder comes to their doorstep putting a lot of pressure on everyone. There are secrets revealed and a lot of suspects and avenues to wander down. This mad the book quite a compelling read.
If you would have asked me if I thought this was a Christian book, I would have said no. About halfway through, Jane’s 15-year-old son is put in jail for murder and then you could truly tell this was a Christian book. For some reason this didn’t really seem like a series finale. I thought it was a standalone. It can totally be read as one. I didn’t have trouble figuring out what was going on and I didn’t wonder about the backstory since it all seemed to be explained as I read along.
The cast stood out to me. This could be any family. It just grips you and holds you hostage until the conclusion. This is quite a page turner so you might not want to start it before you go to bed. You will stay up all night for sure with this unputdownable read.
If you love a good Christian suspense contemporary mystery, definitely check this one out.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

Police Chief Jane Hardy has a really complicated back story but things are starting to come together, especially since she's reconciled with her ex-husband Reed and son Will. Unfortunately, a tragedy involving Will pulls Jane back into the nightmare of her life in a cult. Her mother drugged her for three days so that she would not know what was happening but Gabriel, the cult leader, doesn't know that. Add to that Lauren, who helped Reed raise Will and you've got a situation that is ripe with drama. Know that Jane and Reid rely a lot on their faith, which buoys at times which would make some feel as though they are sinking. It does help, I think, to have read at least one of the earlier books to fully appreciate these vivid characters and their troubled pasts. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A good read.
