I am so excited to read this book. I just read an excerpt and blurb about this book and it looks like it will be a great story. This is just a preliminary review since I’ve only seen a blurb. However I am looking forward to reading this and giving more of a review. A very interesting storyline! I can’t wait to see what happens.
What a tripppy ride. A mother and daughter go into a weird scientific experiment that then allow the daughter to be implanted with the moms memories. However their lives are in danger and the memories keep coming randomly. Quick read. But super weird. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Memory Lane by Sara Shepard (author of the Pretty Little Liars series )and Ellen Goodlett genre is sci-fi thriller. The plot of this book revolves are Alex Bryant and her mother Cassie. Whom isn't from Alex's point-of-view was not the best mother in the world, who always has quick money schemes which leads into the plot of this story which is doing a study that involves memory implantation which Alex decides to do to see who her long lost father is. This is the sci-fi part of the story along with how not all are real memories. The thriller part comes in after the memory implantation when the memories Alex starts to see are that of a murder from her mother's past.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my early access of Memory Lane. All opinions in this review are my own honest opinion. If you do not agree, it's ok! :) I would recommend this book to young adults.
I always enjoy reading about false/alternative memories, and the sci-fi aspect involving the transfer of memories from one person to another was intriguing. I'm really a novel reader and not a podcast listener, and I downloaded this expecting to read a novel. Possibly because of that, I wished there was more description. I was also startled by the spoiler in the Note for Audio on page 15, which took away some of my reading pleasure.
Overall, this was an interesting idea, relatively well executed.
I loved the premise of this book: experiencing a loved one’s memories like they were your own sounds both traumatizing and tantalizing!
The book was well-written, glowing naturally. There was a Sci-Fi aspect to it, which I also appreciated. Cassie and Alex’s relationship is tumultuous and yet relatable at the same time.
This is a book I would definitely recommend to women and young adults!
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for my copy of the book. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
I think the cover art is a little... Unattractive. Not very appealing at all. If I'd seen this book in a bookstore, I wouldn't have given it second look.
The story though... So original! I was hooked almost immediately. Well written.
