Oh Lora Leigh, be still my heart!

Fantastic story! It's one of those that has sat in TBR for a while and when you read it you're like why the H did that take me so long!

You feel better for reading this story.

New fave author I think!

Attractive title and cover.

Recommend.

This was an eh book for me. It definitely wasn't to the standard I expect from Lora Leigh and while the book moved fairly on speed, I felt like there were too many holes in the plot.

Lora Leigh is a very prolific writer, and I've enjoyed many of her books. This one was good, maybe not her best. I enjoyed the suspense but the basic premise that relied on people not recognizing each other/not communicating was meh.

The second book in the new Lora Leigh series begins with a bang and never stops running full speed ahead as these characters are brought back together and find intense lust and love in the most unlikely of ways. I admit I wasn’t much of a fan of the first book, which seemed to have been driven by the steam with very little plot in the story to carry it, and while this story is not lacking in any way with the steam, the plot is more believable and enjoyable to me. Sallie and Jacob are characters that have been circling one another for years, even without them both knowing the full truth of what they meant to one another, and when they finally come together for one explosive night, their world shifts quickly and life changes drastically before either of them can take a full breathe. Sallie has been in love with Jacob since they were together years before, but now that she is in his hometown and he doesn’t seem to even recognize her, she has been fighting his pull and trying to understand why she loves a man who so callously pushed her aside. Jacob has been lusting for Sallie since the first time he saw her in his town, but there is something about her that confuses him and messes with his long honed-CIA instincts so he hasn’t approached her like her wanted to, but when she finally gives him the chance to take her into his arms one night he can’t resist any longer. After their night together, Sallie’s life quickly begins to devolve and it becomes apparent that she is in serious danger, but instead of running again, Jacob takes her safety into his own hands and claims her for his own. But as their past and present blends, Sallie has to finally comes clean with the truth of their time together and Jacob learns the truth of their time together and the reason for his intense attraction and deep connection to her. In the end, the love and devotion they share is challenged as their lives are again and again in the crosshairs of the killers after them both and only Jacob and his team and keep them alive in order to have a chance at a future. Sallie was the perfect sassy, sexy, and sweet cowgirl for Jacob. I loved seeing her challenge him at every turn and find a way to stand up to his alpha and controlling nature, even as she fell deeper in love with the man who’s held her heart for so long. She has lived through a long of trauma and drama for the past five years and she just wants peace, but at the same time she wants her man even when he doesn’t know her. She is intelligence, determined, and refuses to give up even when she is faced with an enraged lover with the power to break her heart and soul. Jacob was one of the better characters of this nature I have read in a while, able to carry of the badass, alpha, dominant without losing his sweetness for his woman when he had her in his arms. It is obvious that he cares deeply for Sallie, even when he doesn’t understand why they have such a deep connection, but when he learns the full truth he jumps right in and makes sure she understands he isn’t letting her go, no matter what comes at them or tries to tear them apart. There was non-stop passion in this story to be sure, just as in the first story, but I felt the depth in this story was driving their emotional connection, not just there for the heat factor of the story. I am looking forward to the next story in the series for sure and seeing Jacob’s friends find the women that will steal their hearts. Even though I didn’t love the first in the series, I’m thinking this one might turn out to be pretty good after all.

The premise of Strong, Silent Cowboy is so familiar to me. Guy meets girl in Sweden, shows her the time of her life. He says he will see her again and then he disappears. Meanwhile she goes through extreme difficulties and then he comes back into the picture and throws her hormones in a tizzy.

I think I would have enjoyed the book more if I could have stopped trying to remember where I knew the backstory from.

Strong, Silent Cowboy is a slow-burn romance if you consider that it takes more than three years before Jacob and Sallie start getting together after they “meet” again. Lora Leigh and Veronica Chadwick always create heroines that are stronger than what they think they are.

Cowboy has snappy dialogue and lots of imagery to look at (smile).

I should also say that this is a romantic suspense as Sallie has been on the run for a number of years. Jake being the dominant male we have to expect for Leigh has the obvious protective reactions. A setup guaranteed to give these lovers a second chance.

I like this story and the drama between Jake and Sallie. Dominant male sweeps the head-strong heroine off her feet and into bed with details that are pretty easy to like. Leigh and Chadwick give readers what they love and a happily-ever-after to book.

I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

It was a long and very emotional wait for this book to finally become available....it was worth it!! It was a great sequel and strong thread of the story theme without rehashing the same characters needlessly.Jacob was the perfect broody alpha male and Sallie was the damsel in distress who was strong enough to be his partner. Wishful thinking on my part would be if Ms Leigh would continue this series with the Culpeppers!!

Strong, Silent Cowboy is a romantic suspense with a strong plot about international intrigue with a storyline that could have driven the novel on its own merits. Instead, the author inserted numerous open door and highly graphic bedroom scenes throughout the book which I found mostly superfluous and repititious. While I enjoy a well-written steamy novel, the bedroom scenes must have a purpose to the plot. Sadly, toward the last third of this book, I skipped over many pages of unnecessary bedroom encounters.
As for the plot, I would rate this book a 4 star novel. For content, I rate it a 2 star. Averaging the overall impressions, this story is 3 stars.

Sallie had one night together with Jacob pretty much another lifetime ago and they see eachother again. Only thing is he pretends he doesn't know her and while she still wants him its clear they can't have anything together. Plus theres also a secret she's hiding and now it seems someone is after her Jacob will do everything in his power to keep her safe.

This was a great book I really enjoyed it. A bit too steamy if you ask me like way too much to the point of being excessive in my opinion but other then that I loved the attraction that was building between the two. Then there was the whole thing where her life was in danger and their past together that kept things interesting. Overall there isn't much to say about this book without spoiling it so I'll just leave it as a great book that's worth a shot to check out if you haven't already.

Strong, Silent Cowboy by Lora Leigh and Veronica Chadwick
Series: Moving Violations #2
Subgenre: western romance
Release date: 9 Mar 2021
Publisher: St Martin’s
Format: ebook and print
Length: 304 pages
RRP: $7.85 (ebook); $17.50 (print)

There is something vaguely familiar about this woman. The woman he wants more than anything.

Sallie knows him. She also knew him by another name when they had the explosive weekend in Switzerland many years ago. But he has not acknowledged her in any way. Jacob Donovan is the man in town most sought after by the single women. He doesn’t really care about what they think of him.

Then one night, in the bar, he approaches. On the way to her place, they cannot wait as the chemistry is explosive. Sallie and Jacob cannot get enough of each other and wonder when the next opportunity is to be together.

The whole town becomes involved when Sallie appears with her neck almost savaged by her night with Jacob. Jacob also has been marked by Sallie. Jacob is also questioned by his grandmother as she wants to meet Sallie and for him to have grand babies she can cuddle.

Sallie is always on alert in case she has to run again. There have been a few times when she has been the target of an attack. When she is with Jacob, she feels less fear. Then one night the attacker finds her, and Jacob is there to save her and her friend. It is then that the whole story comes out.

As it turns out, Jacob has forgotten the week in Switzerland due to an explosion. A work accident. It does happen from time to time when one is a spy. The attack on Sallie turns into a full-blown battle for their lives.

What can I say but ‘wow’. I have always enjoyed Ms Leigh’s stories and while it has been a while since I read one, it was a treat to read this one. The story really showed the explosive chemistry between Jacob and Sallie. It really leaps off the page. It feels like this couple is ready to combust so hot is the sex. When the spy action is added, the story moves at a pace and is really a page turner.

A thoroughly enjoyable read.

Jacob and Sallie had explosive chemistry. She was a diplomat’s stepdaughter. He was a CIA agent. They had a weekend of sex and he promised to come back for her. An explosion caused memory loss and he left Switzerland. Sallie was pregnant so she married his partner, who kept Sallie and her baby from Jacob. Sallie lost the baby. The marriage was annulled. Sallie met Jacob three years ago again in his hometown. She settled there. She thought he had forgotten her. This book ends suddenly and does not explain the partner’s betrayal of Jacob. At least I was able to understand some of it before the end. Not sure if I will read this author again.

I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is a true standalone, to the point that none of book one comes back in but the location and the leading male. Jacob helps in book one, and now years later he takes home the super quite Sallie for one hot one night stand that gets the town talking. But Sallie is mad he still doesn't remember her from years before, when they had a hot weekend together. Then Sallie had to about run again from her attacker, until Jacob takes her under his and his friends wings, as Ex-CIA he knows what to do and a little bit about who is trying to get to her.
This one is just as steamy but it seems to flow a bit better and not just sex for the plot. Again, not much cowboy but Texas and his family own a ranch.
I'm interested to see who is book 3 and where this series keeps going.

3 stars
5 steam

Very long wait for this book to come out, but it was sooooo worth the wait!! Jacob and Sallie were amazing together and I loved reading their story.

This was a bitter sweet book as one of the authors (Veronica) has since passed away. Knowing it was her last book was heartbreaking. It’s evident Veronica and Lora put their all into this book. It was wonderfully written with a great plot and nuanced characters. I very much enjoyed it.

Another cracking read. Cowboy romances are one of my guilty pleasures. Strong male characters, fiesty likeable women, ranches, horses, whats not to like?

Sallie is 18 and working at a chalet in Switzerland. She meets jacob, at least she thinks she does, but he is an undercover cia operative and is not who he says he is. They get intimate and Jacob disappears. Years later they meet by chance and Sallie knows him right away, but Jacob was in an accident and doesnt remember who she is.

I thorughly enjoyed this book, it was a great read. It was a little different too.

*I received this book free from St. Martin's Press via NetGalley.*

Sallie hadn't had the best life, she was raised in boarding school and didn't have that sense of familial love. She thought she'd found love in Switzerland, but he left and never came back, leaving her in one predicament after another. She ended up on the run from someone who wanted information that she didn't know. Everything crashed the moment she moved to a new town and was introduced to the only man she'd ever loved...except he didn't recognize her.

Jacob worked undercover for the CIA, but after an accident that took a week of his memory he retired back to the small town he was raised in. From the moment he met Sallie he had been drawn to her in a familiar way, but couldn't place why. Three long years later he finally makes a move and the moments he's intimate with her bring back flashes of memory that was once lost, until it all comes back.

"He'd marked her, spilled himself inside her. As far as he was concerned, she already belonged to him, whether she liked it or not."

Jacob was upset that he'd lost so much time with the woman he wanted forever with. And he was downright homicidal about the the men after Sallie because they were trying to find him. Not to mention the once partner who had lied to him then proceeded to blackmail Sallie into marrying him. I was kind of looking forward to what Jacob would do to him, but sadly that part never came up.

Strong, Silent Cowboy is an interesting read filled with action, suspense, unbridled passion, and intense sex scenes. The characters are well developed and their personality traits shine through on the pages. The only part I didn't fully like was that it felt unfinished. Like I mentioned, Jacob doesn't get to face his ex-partner, the bad guys went down with little fight, but it never really explained why it was them. Maybe I overlooked something. And the ending felt incomplete, as if there should have been an epilogue or something.

I was given this arc for an honest review.
There is a lot going on with this story. First, it is a cowboy book that has Jacob Donovan who wants to just be a cowboy on his ranch and forget about his time as a CIA operative. That is until Sallie Hamblen comes into his life. He feels something familiar about her but just can’t figure it out. She thinks that he is not the gut she met years ago and then just disappeared on her.
Now as their lives become entwined together he slowly begins to remember and also realizes that she is in danger. This turns out to be a very good story about them as a couple as well as suspense. I liked the characters and the story altogether, very much worth the read.

In ‘Strong, Silent Cowboy’ we meet Sallie Hamblen and Jacob Donovan. Years ago Sallie and Jacob spend a hot weekend together in a hotel in Switzerland. Sallie thought they loved each other and that there would be many other moments together. But Jacob disappeared and left her without word. Now years later, Sallie and Jacob meet again but Jacob doesn’t remember Sallie and Sallie is determined to forget it all too. But she can’t seem to leave him, and soon Sallie find herself in danger and Jacob might be the only one who can keep her safe.

To be honest, this book wasn’t for me. Right from the start I found it confusing what was happening between Sallie and Jacob and what was when. Apparently we first read a little part about 6 years ago, than 3 years ago and shortly after from the present. Maybe it was just the ARC format, but this definitely wasn’t clear to me and if confused me.

Although there definitely was chemistry between Sallie and Jacob, I found this book had way to much sex in it. There was a lot of sex, and not a lot of character development. I just couldn’t really feel the connection between Sallie and Jacob until probably the end of the book. Which was disappointing and didn’t make this a pleasant read for me.

What I also didn’t really get was the suspense part of this book. Sallie has been on the run for years, but now she stayed put for the last three and her stepfather still knew where she was and got her a job. Well.. I guess this book just left me with to much questions and to little answers.

Wow wow! Strong, Silent Cowboy was a super steamy cowboy romance!! If you are a fan of romances that are open door, I recommend this one! I loved the mix of romance and suspense. Both plotlines were well balanced and the plot pacing keep me engaged. Loved this book and will be looking for more from these authors!

It's been awhile since I posted an ebook that I read.

A woman who is running away because someone wanted her dead. I love how protective Jacob and his friends.

I was expecting that someone was looking for Jacob not Sallie.

I enjoyed the story. Thank you for the ARC!
