Legacy, by Nora Roberts, is one of the first books I’ve read by this authors. I’ve honesty not read many of her books and am wondering what I’ve been waiting for! I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading many more of her books in the future!

Legacy continues in the tradition of the long string of more recent, treacly Nora Roberts books. I’m not sure whether it’s my critical reading that has evolved or Nora Robert’s writing that has devolved. I loved her earlier romantic suspense novels. Those held my interest and did not strike me as filled with an over abundance of the word “pretty”. It seemed that this one might be different, given the opening chapters and the tension between mother and daughter. But no, it’s another story of perfect friends, happy families and predictably sweet success. There’s merit in the plot concept, as usual, but the execution is slow and bogged down in feel goods. Full disclosure: I stopped reading about 40% of the way through. At that point, the romance was not yet even a spark and the suspense promised by a serial killer with Adrian in his sights had not yet gotten off the ground. Possibly it improved after that. I couldn’t make myself stick around any longer.

I used to read everything Nora Roberts wrote but now I read the blurb to see if I might like it. This is a good one with a cast of characters I liked and the family ties of multi generations i enjoy. Adrian is only 8 when we meet her, the 1st chapter grabs you when you realize her father tries to kill her when they meet. Luckily she and her mother survive so this great story can continue. Adrian makes friends at her new high school and finally stands up to her very driven mother. I enjoyed the interaction between Adrian and her grandparents, her friends and even her mother. A good who's the murderer with clues sprinkled throughout the book. A classic Nora Roberts. I like the direction she's taking in her last several books. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I sat down and opened this book and just absorbed it. The characters were so real and likeable that I couldn't put it down till I was done reading. This book has it all love, family, ambition, suspense, choices made and consequences acknowledge but not always excepted. Perfect title. I highly recommend this book. Having only read Nora Roberts' work under her J.D. Robb pseudonym, I was expecting something a bit more action-packed and suspenseful given the dramatic plot description. Instead, to me this felt more like women's fiction, with the focus on Adrian's life, family relationships (biological and found family) and career than on either suspense or romance. Within that frame of reference, this was a largely enjoyable and easy read.

I liked the almost dreamlike sense of narration, with it flowing through time and skipping through Adrian's childhood and teens. The small town focus for much of the story was also nicely done without seeming over-the-top quirky. The tiny bit of suspense we got at the end was jarring compared to the tone for 95% of the story (side-flashes to the stalker/serial killer excluded), but so well done that I almost wished the story was more focused on the investigation aspect than on Adrian. The romance subplot, while not really coming into play until the last quarter of the story, was also nicely done, even if a bit of an afterthought rather than the focus.

The three-star rating mainly comes down to not connecting with Adrian as a main character. When the description mentioned that she creates her own fitness and exercise business in the shadow of her mother's, I was not anticipating the story going into painstaking detail about the process and her workouts. Compared to Raylan's moving and emotional parallel story that interwove his personal and professional lives, I was looking for a bit more depth to Adrian's character beyond her obsession with fitness, or at least to see her overcome some more meaningful challenges.

Overall, I liked Legacy and would recommend it to someone looking for an easy escapist read.

I had not read a Nora Roberts book in many years. I had done so many of the Trilogies and always loved them but got tired of the same ole same ole.
This book however, was so good in so many ways.
It took me a little bit to get into the characters and what was going on because they jump in ages. After I got used to that, I fell in love with Adrian and her life she had made for herself despite the tragedy when she was 7. Adrian took all her energy into making herself a household name in fitness. She moved back home to help her grandfather and fell in love with the little town of Travelers Creek when she had spent many summers with her grandparents. Her relationship with her mother is strained and distant. Adrian has a dark shadow hanging over her that appears every year in February; a poem of hate by an unknown person.
This book is an amazing read and keeps you so involved and interested in the next thing happening in the characters lives.

It's been a few years since I read a true contemporary romance. I had explored other genres such as true crime, LGBT, and science fiction, but when I saw a new Nora book, I couldn't resist (a reaction I'm sure I share with many man others). But Adrian grabbed me from the first page and following her life through the pages of Legacy was surprisingly satisfying.

Adrian is smart and independent, even as a young girl. Her mother is career-focused, successful, and while Adrian admires her, she walks a different path. The product of a college affair, she doesn't know who her father is until he tries to kill her and that one act weaves a thread through the whole story. From growing up, to building her career—like and completely different from her mother's—to replanting the roots her mother left behind, creating a trusted circle of friends who become family, and eventually falling in love, Adrian is truly her own woman. The mystery that followed her from her teens was carefully woven and kept me turning the page in search of the next clue. When the reveal came, it was both 'of course' and 'wow, didn't see that coming.' A perfect mystery.

Overall, this is exactly what I want in a Nora Roberts book, and as comfortable as finding my favorite well-worn pjs in the bottom of the drawer and trying them on again after far too long. That said, there was one strange issue I wasn't expecting and I'm not sure if it's a formatting issue in the advanced galley or if it's also in the final version.

Throughout the story, there were thought-POV shifts without any delineation (i.e. in an early chapter from Adrian's POV, Harry visits and suddenly we're reading his thoughts mid-chapter without any indication). This happened more than once with the secondary characters and several times from the killer specifically. Those shifts were jarring and in every instance, I had to read back to figure out where it changed and who it changed to.

That one issue didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of Legacy and I would recommend it highly

Adrian experiences something no child should have to bear witness to.That being said this book had it all childhood trauma, friendships, career, and love.

Another amazing read! I loved the dynamic between the multi-generations. Adrian is a complex character that you feel empathy for. and root for her happiness. I really enjoyed the Maryland connection! This is going to be a must read for all Nora Roberts fans. A great suspense/mystery/thriller!

It’s time for the yearly Nora Roberts standalone romantic suspense title! I liked the big & small feels in this book. Adrian and her mother Lina live a big life of notoriety in NYC, but her grandparents live in a small town in Maryland. In my opinion, the scenes in Maryland were the strongest parts of the book. There were a lot of characters to keep track of, with only a few people actually being central to the plot. But, in true NR fashion, everyone is ultimately endearing and I was invested from beginning to end. Especially with the dogs!!

This story had me hooked from the beginning. Little Adrian, you can't help but feel for her. I wanted to reach into the book and give her hugs!

This story follows the life of Adrian, starting with when she first met her dad. That meeting was very traumatic and led to more horrible things later. But that meeting also shaped Adrian into who she grows to be. I loved following her life and seeing her at different stages.

I love how the story unfolded, and even though I didn't find the mystery to be much of a mystery, the story around that was incredible and touching. Family is the center of this story...family we love, and family we choose. We see different families represented, from Adrians family and friends, to a community who comes together and even toxic family.

I highly recommend this book and it's a story that will be sticking with me for a while.

I was chosen to read this book. I just love Nora Roberts. This one is one of her legacy books.
It starts when the heroine is young and goes through her life. The Hero's life is also highlighted with alternating chapters about both. The book spans the ups and downs of their lives and how they meet back up where they started in a charming town.

This is typical Nora -- strong supporting characters, nicely written storyline with smile worthy moments. There is also an element of danger – which is a recurring theme in many of her books.
I highly recommend this story!

This book was different from some of the author's more recent books. This was a story with a mystery instead of a story that was a mystery.

While the identity of the notes was rather predictable it didn't hurt the story. There was fantastic foreshadow of the love interest and a twist on how and when they connected.

"Legacy" is such an appropriate title because that was a main thread throughout the book. It was a beautiful story of how the different threads of a family, those that are by birth and those that are by choice, are woven together. It was a pleasure to get to know the different characters.

I look forward to rereading again.

Another typical Nora Roberts novel. Easy, quick read with a heroine that mimics all of the heroines in her many other books.

Nora Roberts is an expert craftswoman, and she wields her pen as skillfully as she always does in this newest story. I enjoyed the world of fitness that the heroine and her mother inhabit; in true Roberts form there's enough detail that it feels authentic, and it fits well within the narrative. I appreciated the hero's journey, though I wish his wife (late wife not long into the book) was a little less one-dimensional.

The suspense is very VERY creepy, which I enjoyed, and made for a thrillingly tense showdown at the end. Not my favorite Roberts, and nothing particularly new here, but definitely a good read.

Nora Roberts is, of course, a legend, so when I got an opportunity to read her latest standalone novel early, I was thrilled. They are definitely my favorites of her many amazing works, and this was no exception. What we have here is a romance that is also a thriller...but for a long time in the middle, you kind of get to almost set the thriller part of it aside and enjoy a sweet, sweet love story. These characters, and there are many, are so well-developed and real that you want to become part of their crew. And then the action of the thriller part of the story moves toward its peak, and if you're anything like me, you'll spend the last 10% of the book leaning forward in your seat, reading as fast as you can, desperate to find out what happens in the end. I felt some feels with this one too. If you are an NR fan, this book is not to be missed.

Forever amazing Nora continues your gift of storytelling in Legacy. We once again experience characters that grow so much while weaving the tides of life from young adults to the present day. When they do find each other we watch as their romance blooms in spades but not without a killer twist. So many feelings and emotions, so much friendship and family Nora has truly created another story for us to get lost in and enjoy..

Adrian is a well known health influencer who got started as a baby with her mother's company; Yoga Baby. When Adrain is 17 and launches her first solo project she starts receiving threatening poems every year. When she suffers a family loss, Adrian moves back to her home town and decides to move her base of operation to her grandparents home. Adrian survived a traumatic event when she is 7 years old and surrounds herself with people who will deal anything to help her. So when her stalker seems to start escalating, she has an entire town who is there to help her find out who the stalker is. This was a very fun and often times heartbreaking book to read. I can't say how many times I cried while reading it. The friendships in this book are amazing as well as the family connections Adrian has. And the main love interest is so swoony and sweet! He has moved up to one of my favorite book boyfriends! There are many trigger warnings in this one, so I would recommend looking into these if you think you might need them.
