I am always a fan of a good Nora Roberts.

Legacy is a multi-generational novel set primarily around a young woman named Adrian, who met her birth father on the night that he tried to kill her, her mother, and her nanny, and Raylan, a young man she met when her mom left her with her grandparents for a summer in the aftermath. He's her childhood crush, but they remain friends while both go on their separate ways. A few tragedies end up bringing them back into each others' orbits.

I really liked the found-family aspect of this: while Adrian's mother wasn't necessarily absent, she wasn't necessarily there, and Adrian manages to thrive despite the caring neglect--she ends up with a full circle of friends, family, her friends' spouses, her childhood bestie and her childhood crush's family all in her orbit and they all just generally are there for each other, support each other, and help each other through various crises.

The one thing that really pulls me back from giving this a five star rating over a four star rating is that I had a hard time connecting with anyone because the book jumps around so much in time. This spans at least a couple of decades and it's difficult to feel for any character's tragedy when you barely see them before they suffer said tragedy.

Overall, though, it was exactly what I expected it to be and that was very comforting.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

I read a lot of Nora Roberts books and have enjoyed most of them but this book was one of the best I've read of hers in a lone time.😍 Loved it. From the first page it held my interest. Couldn't wait to finish it, but didn't want to see it end. Thank you netgalley .for the advanced copy

I have read many enjoyable books by Nora Roberts, but I didn't fall in love with this one. It was more of a family drama than the thriller I'd expected from the premise about death threats and such. Some of the characters were likable but overall it moved way too slowly for me, the plot kept getting bogged down, and it was over-written at times. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity.

The last 10 years or so Nora Roberts has been writing the same formulaic contemporary romance with a side of suspense. The dialogue is just horrible. No one talks like this. It's cringy to read, but I keep reading hoping she will return to her 1990s-2000s way of writing, which was amazing and what I prefer.

A good read! Quite easy, as most of Nora’s books are.

I love that I’m always swept up in her worlds with ease.

Frankly I had trouble getting into this book. I am sorry to say it did not hold my interest. In my opinion it moved too slow.

This was my first Nora Roberts book in a long time, and I really enjoyed it! It had wonderful character growth with romance that makes your heart swell and suspense that makes your heart pump faster! Romantic suspense readers should check this out!

Legacy by Nora Roberts is the story of Adrian Rizzo. As a child Adrian was almost killed by her father but was saved by her mother, Lina. To recover she spent the summer with her grandparents. Years later Adrian returns to her sanctuary but sadly her stalker is getting closer.

Another mystery thriller from Nora Roberts. This was a fun simple read that was forgettable. I read it two months ago and had no memory. I had to read the synopsis to recall the book. If you like Roberts you will enjoy this book but it is not her best work.

Three stars for being an enjoyable and solid book. Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and Nora Roberts for the free copy. This was an honest review.

Nora Roberts has been a favorite author of mine for a LONG time! Legacy - her latest novel - did not disappoint! It's the story of three generations of the Rizzo family - Adrian is a very strong, independent woman who started her our own business doing yoga videos at a very early age with the help of three great friends. Her Mom Lina has her own fitness business and her grandparents own their own pizza place. She was basically raised by her nanny Mimi and her grandparents. Raylan was her best friend's brother from childhood and after the tragic loss of his wife moves back to his hometown with his two young children. The chemistry between this two characters was really fun to watch develop. Everything seems perfect except for the yearly letters containing very disturbing poems that Adrian receives. As the letters become more frequent we learn of someone who wants revenge on Adrian and everything she stands for. Highly recommend!!

Another good one from Nora Roberts —this had romance, family issues, murder, finding your own path, small town vibes. A number of topics for book club discussion.

***Thanks to Netgalley for this ARC***
Nora Roberts yearly standalones are some thing I always pick up. There always a great escape into a relationship and an event that’s going to cause chaos of some kind. This one is a coming-of-age story that starts out with a seven-year-old girl and the people around her all the way until she’s an adult and living world she’s created. Nora does an incredible job writing kids! There’s no other way to say it other than any time a kid enters the story it’s laugh out loud funny and this story was no exception! It’s a pretty quick read but one I couldn’t put down.

Holier-than-thou health nut and entrepreneur Adrian Rizzo is dogged by frightening poems her whole life--delivered each Valentine's Day. Due to the fame of Adrian's semi-estranged mother and the fraught death of Adrian's father, Adrian herself has had much media coverage and makes an easy target.

That's the premise anyway. Mostly, you spend a couple of hundred pages listening to a middle-aged woman pretend to be a pretentious, precocious, woke, privileged teenager. Who a few more hundred pages later falls in love with her best friend's widowed brother to zero fanfare. Her experience with the madman seems like a eleventh-hour decision that does not at all feel like a cohesive part of the book.

Though Ms. Roberts has been the type of writer with a template for many years, Legacy has every unfortunate side effect of that method of writing--weak plot, shallow characters, and over-population.

Around the time that Adrian was turning seven, her whole world erupted in violence and scandal. Her mom kills her dad because he tried to kill her, then she is whisked off to stay with her grandparents in safety away from the cameras and publicity. Her mom leaves to manage her fitness empire business, and Adrian is given the opportunity to set down roots and make a home with her family. She takes this opportunity when she is young...and returns to it when her family home in Maryland. Now that she has her own career in fitness, her publicity is just as famous as her mother's is. She also has a stalker who is determined to kill her when the time is right only no one seems to be taking the warnings seriously.

Definitely a good read. Nora Roberts does a great job with her writing, character development and flow are perfect. The romance between Adrian and Raylan, her childhood friend are very sweet. I also want his dog! I like that the focus is not all on romance or all on the suspense, but also deals with tough issues like trust, grief, and trauma.

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and Nora Roberts for this digital advance review copy for me to read and enjoy. As always, my review is voluntary and my opinions are my own.

Legacy
by Nora Roberts
Pub Date: May 25, 2021

Loved this book! It does have some triggers so watch out for domestic violence, drug abuse and a school shooting.
However, if you can get past that, this is a great book. It has it all. I will recommend this to our patrons.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

5 star

Every time I pick up a Nora Robert's book I wonder if it could be good. As usual, Legacy exceeded my expectations! The characters come to life in such a friendly manner and become identifiable so that you know who they are. I loved that the story brought me into the yoga and social media world as well. Thanks Netgally for sharing this ARC!

Normally this book would have gotten a better rating from me. Unfortunately there were a few places that I needed to put it down for a while to put all the characters in to perspective again. Overall Nora Roberts book are generally a five star. I just didn't find this one as easy to follow.

I have always been a fan of Nora Roberts. She seems to come up with incredible story lines. She managed to combine a couple of genres when writing Legacy. She has a love story combined with mystery/suspense which makes this an outstanding story. Being use to her trilogies, I did think several times “I wish she would tell their story” about several of the couples in the story. But definitely would recommend this to anybody who loves Nora Roberts, love stories and suspense. I also left a review on Goodread and Amazon
