Lacey is a young lady who is struggling to find out where she belongs. She recently found out she was the product of an affair and has recently reconnected with her birth mother who doesn't want a motherly relationship with her but for some reason Lacey keeps referring to her as "Mum". The book is a well-written story but the ending throws you for a loop and was a bit of a let down.
I had great expectations when I requested this book. Sadly, the reading was not satisfying. I found the characters sort of empty. And the plot, in my opinion, was based in a lack of reality that made the "believing" a very diff task.
I wish the author good luck with other readers.
Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This story mad me mad. If the women did not want the child why did she hire her and work her like a slave and she found the mother. Not being adopted I can't say for sure but I think she was better off finding her own boyfriend and not working for someone that gave her up because it was an inconvenience.
I loved everything about this book. Grab your box of tissues for this well written story. Love, angst, family, death all take center stage in this story. You'll discover how much family means to some and how little to others. At the end, I was bawling my eyes out.
An entertaining and well written book. Good plot with believable characters. I highly recommend it. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.
Lacey loses her mom only to find out she was not her child but ‘her fathers sin’. In her search for her birth mother she finds a very successful designer. As she tries to develop a relationship with her, Lacey is saddened that she keeps her at arms length except for business.
Lacey struggles to understand how her birth mother could give her up and not wonder about her.
When Lacey finds herself pregnant her birth mother encourages her to have an abortion, the father doesn’t want anything to do with the baby either.
Will Lacey keep the baby? Will she be pressured to having an abortion?
Thank you to Netgalley for complimentary copy. The thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was one of those books I pressed on with to the end and then promptly regretted wasting the time on. I found bits of it very hard to believe and the characterisations just didn't seem realistic. It seems to be quite an anti-men book as well which is unhelpful as it implies men can't be trusted. I found some of the writing really sloppy as well. I kind of kept going in the hope of a positive turnaround, but alas none was to be found. If you want an easy read on family relationships, you may enjoy it, but then usually I do and I found it quite frustrating in the end.
