As moving and well done as Sheets. Tackling serious topics such as suicide and bullying, this is a powerful story of what it means to be true to yourself.
I thought Sheets was decent but found the storytelling to be a little disjointed. I really enjoyed this second volume and its focus on Eliza. I enjoy a book about bullying that calls out those who are tangentially involved or responsible for not stepping in.
A sweet and sad story about how hard it is to be unique, to feel hopeless and to try and claw your way back from grief, especially when you are just a kid and don't have the tools to cope with things that adults can barely handle.
A sweet follow up to the well loved “Sheets.” The art is stunning, the color palette pleasing to the eye, and diversity in characters is great.
The story is fun, deeper than you would expect at times, and so sweet.
Would recommend!
Did not enjoy this as much as Sheets, and didn’t feel like the story ever quite gelled, or that the protagonist carried it or was fleshed out fully
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am so sad that I waited so long to read this because I loved it. As with the first book in the series, the illustrations and use of colour within this graphic novel are absolutely amazing! They really elevate the story to another level and make the whole thing so gorgeous. I loved seeing more of Marjorie and Wendell but Eliza’s story is also a very large part of this book and that for me was what made this book so great. The events of the story and the messages that are portrayed are just beautiful and I would really recommend this to everyone!

Didn't capture my attention and engagement. Interested in trying it again though and hopefully it will take.
This was just so cute I hate that it took so long for me to review it. I only just worked out how to do this!
I absolutely adored the first book in this series, and this one holds up for me. From the surface, it seems like a sweet story about ghosts in a laundromat. The second one dives head first into grief, bullying, death, and suicidal thoughts. I felt like the book was slow on the pickup and it took me some time to get invested in the story. I think this was in part due to how long it had been since I had read the first one. I wish there had been a quick recap or something at the beginning.
Thummler does a really nice job expressing that teenager urge to both be seen and accepted and to be invisible. This is wonderfully juxtaposed with the two main characters. I do wish we had seen a bit more from the ghost, especially Wendell.
Overall, If you liked "Sheets", you should definitely read "Delicates"!
This, and the first in the series, were only okay for me. I enjoy the story, but not enough to recommend it to others.
An instant classic. Brenna takes Sheets and goes on to fill our hearts with so much joy. Reading Delicates was very fun and the art is always always amazing
I loved Sheets, so of course I jumped at the chance to read Delicates, and it did not disappoint. We follow Marjorie as she continues to cope with running her family's laundromat that's full of ghosts, while also trying to fit in with her new group of friends. We also meet Eliza, who feels much like Marjorie did in Sheets - like she's a ghost drifting through life. Eliza is an avid photographer who wants to capture a ghost on film. This makes Eliza a popular target for bullies, including Marjorie's new friends. Only Wendell, one of Marjorie's ghost friends, likes Eliza. Marjorie herself likes Eliza, too, but she's torn between the desperation to keep her new friends than she is to reach out to Eliza. This book perfectly captures what it's like to be an 8th grader, navigating weird social norms and being the odd one out. Be warned: you will cry. I was sobbing by the time I finished this one. A fantastic graphic novel, highly recommend.
sadly, before i could download this title, netgalley took it off their catalog. that means i can’t review this one. HOWEVER, i will be checking in with my library to see if i can get a copy and review it that way
In Sheets we follow Marjorie as she finds out that family's laundromat is haunted by ghosts! In this volume we find Marjorie having gotten in with the popular kids and trying to make sure that no one knows her family's laundromat is haunted by ghosts for fear of being called uncool. Eliza Duncan loves to take pictures of things that are otherworldly - like ghosts. This does not endear her to the popular kids at school. They make fun of her mercilessly. When Eliza accidentally comes across Wendell she's is beyond excited that she finally met a real ghosts. But Marjorie denies everything, pushing Eliza and Wendell both away in favor of her new friends. Will Marjorie be able to balance her popular friends as well as the haunted laundromat and everything that comes with it? Or will her carefully crafted world come crashing down?
Overall, I really enjoyed this graphic novel. It's one that I would recommend to anyone.
A great follow up to Sheets! Love the illustrations and story is great for middle grade/teenagers to engage with.
I really enjoyed this graphic novel.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This was a great follow-up to Sheets. I think students who read it will connect with the characters. There are times when we what to fit in, when we don't feel like we are a part of the group, and when we just want to be left alone. I think that what the characters go through will connect with readers who are going through the same feelings.
I very much liked the colour scheme of this graphic novel. But I wasn't a fan of the faces. Which is annoying when you see them on every ssingle page. I guess it's just not my drawing style, other people might like it very much. I also wasn't very interpelled by the story. I liked the uniqueness of the characters' lives, but not what they were doing here and now.
Delicates is a middle grade graphic novel. It’s also book 2 in the Sheets series. I really enjoyed the story but I also really enjoyed all the illustrations BEST!! I’m completely in awe of how gorgeous this book truly is!! I highly recommend this series!!
Thank you Netgallley and the publisher for this e-arc.
I liked Delicates even more than Sheets, This is a maturer story that deals with bullying, grief, suicidal thoughts, finding who you are and moving on.
We have a new charcter, Eliza, a new girl at Marjorie's school, an outcast who likes photography, specially ghost ptotography. Marjorie tries to hide Wendell and the others ghosts from her but it gets difficult at times. specially when Wendell wants to go outside the laundry.
I like Marjorie's character development, finally realizing that her human "friends" are toxic. I love Wendell, the ghost boy, and felt sorry for him sometimes. He's a realy good friend <3. This was a great sequel and I think this is the end, everything closes, but I feel that we need to know more about the ghosts.
