'Impossible odds' is the fourth book of the 'Five Families' series by Jill Ramsower. Told in dual Perspectives , this book was equal parts kinky and suspenseful!

I have always been a fan of this Author's books and this series of her is my absolute top favourite! This book can be read as a standalone but it features the same characters as the whole series and I suggest that you read the whole series for a better experience. The author does not hold back and if you are a fan of mafia Romance then this book is something you shouldn't miss!

Primo works for Naz. He has never questioned his life until he meets the spitfire at the bar. The one who was bold enough to make a move at him and then steal from him in the same night. He might not know her name but there is no way he is letting her go now. Her theft might not be big , but he wasn't a man you crossed. It's time his little thief pays for her crimes.

Giada has always had an easy life. That is what it looked from the outside. Stealing small things from strangers is just a habit to have fun. What she didn't expect was to get caught. Now the ruthless man she saw at the club is after her and there is no way he is letting her go. There is a part of her that enjoys his brand of punishment and might just want more. Before she knows she is stuck between a war much bigger than what she had anticipated. You see , primo has his own secrets. The ones that have the capability of destroying Giada. And destroy her he does.

This book was full of twists and turns and I loved the hell out of it! The ending was amazing and so was the storyline. Primo and Giada were perfect for each other and their chemistry was hot off the charts! A definite recommendation to all the dark Romance lovers out there!

This is the fourth book in the Five Families series and the first one I have read. It can be read as a standalone without having to read the other books. This is Giada and Primo’s story and it is as mercurial as Vegas itself. From the first time Giada stepped into Primo’s orbit, the two were inexplicably drawn to each other. Giada is a force to be reckoned with, in more ways than one. Primo is the ultimate alpha male, who when crossed, is the type to take no prisoners. However, when their worlds collide, who will be the last one standing? This is one engrossing read from beginning to end filled with wit, steam and high-octane action. I volunteered to read a copy of this book provided by Netgalley.

If you love Mafia reads, then you'll love Jill Ramsower's Impossible Odds book your in the five families series. Giada is the black sheep of the family and Primo is a Hitman for the Mafia. When these to collide, it turns explosive. This book knocked my socks off and I can't wait to read more.

This series delivers again! Giada and Primo had a connection from the start. She tempted fate the night they met. It came back full circle with a wild ride. Mafia meets Cartel.
She is a strong female who goes after what she wants. He is a man who is dominant and gets what he wants. The worlds they live in collide for a wild ride as only these two would take. Great plot twists keep the reader glued to the pages!

“Impossible Odds” is the story about the Mafia Princess and the Cartel man. Giada Genovese is the daughter of a New York’s Mafia man and a religious woman. She was educated in a conservative and traditional way, but she is far away to be a disciplined and conservative woman. She is reckless, independent and with challenging attitudes that creates a strained relationship with her mother. She has her cousins as her best friends, so they help her to be in peace when thing with her mother gets unbearable. So, one night when they are in a casino in Las Vegas with her cousin, she visualizes a handsome and mysterious man with storm eyes and she takes something from him, without imaging this could be the start of a cataclysm. Primo, the mysterious man, is the first in command of the Mexican cartel and he has an objective in mind. He is a stoic and pragmatic man who owns loyalty to his boss. But he didn’t expect a brunette with emerald eyes changes all his plans and his life as he known.

This book is everything. I can’t stop reading and get excited with each chapter I was reading. I fell in love with Primo because although he is all serious and cold, he has a past, he has motives to be how he is and with a discover it comes decisions he has to do. I like Giada because as well some of her actions were impulsively taken, she is kind, with a heart of gold and persistent. She’s the only one able to break the shell on Primo’s heart and open his eyes about the circumstances he was living. Their love story starts as an attraction without feelings involved but she was invested in knowing him and finally he opens to her. I really loved this book and I highly recommend it. “Impossible Odds” is a mafia book with mystery, action, romance and steamy scenes. There is everything I love in a book.

Mafia romance with a twist!
Primo and Giana’s story was a fun look at the unpredictable romances in the mafia world.
A mafia princess and a Mexican cartel hitman...except they didn’t know this small detail when they met!
How their story evolved, for me, was quirky and just fun!
They both gave as good as they got. Their snarky and sometimes funny exchanges was delicious!
Hot romance, mystery and intrigue, the unexpected twists made this read unputdownable!
Even though this is book 4 in The 5 Families, it can certainly be read as a standalone. I had not read all the prior books and I had no trouble reading and understanding this story.

Impossible Odds by Jill Ramsower is book 4 in The Five Families Series. This is the story of Giada Genovese and Primo. I have read the previous books (and Loved them!) but feel you can make this a standalone book. Giada is the cousin of Maria who story was told in that book but this will be Giada story with Primo who we have also met in the previous books. Primo had a terrible childhood from loosing his family to living on the streets until around twelve he was taken in by Naz who is a Cartel Kingpin. Now in their present day Primo is a strong part of the Cartel. Giada is a mafia princess who is a person onto herself. Giada works to be independent but when she happens to see Primo in Vegas she does try to catch his attention but he turns her down. Giada does a little revenge steeling thinking to server her justice to him. But Primo ends up tracking her down and that starts their dance to love. Their story along with this series is nothing but a page turning read for me. 0

As a child Primo was taken in by Naz, the boss of a Mexican cartel, and has been groomed to assume control of the business when it was time. His latest assignment has sent him to Vegas where he meets Giada, and she leaves an impression on him that he won’t soon forget.

Giada has recently found out that her family is part of the Italian mafia and as much as she knows her family loves her she can’t help feeling like whatever she does will never meet their approval so she has stopped trying. A chance encounter with Primo has him following her to New York which sends them on a collision course filled with danger, intrigue and surprises.

Giada is headstrong, feisty and accepts the consequences of the decisions she makes while Primo is powerful and used to getting his own way but he is also conflicted between love and loyalty. The secondary characters are unique and definitely add another layer to the story.

Giada is on a trip in Las Vegas with her sisters and cousin to celebrate her cousins engagement to a capo. While on the way back to her table she steals a silver lighter fro Mr stormy eyes at the casino.

Stormy eyes is named Primo who is works for Naz the leader of the Sonora Mexican cartel. He figures out quite quickly that Giada has stolen his lighter. He tracks her down a few weeks later and the game begins and continues from there.

The first few chapters it took a while for me to become invested but once I got into I devoured the rest of it. I love a mafia/cartel book and the fact that this book has both just added a little something extra for me.
This is book four in the Five Families series but I hasn't read any of the others and understood everything fine so it can be read as a standalone. Now I will be going back and getting the other books to catch up on what I missed!

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher/ author for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review

The cartel man and the mafia Princess!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: ❤️💙💜💛
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📔📙
World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎🌎
Character development: 👤👤👤👤

The setting: Las Vegas, New Jersey and the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico

The Hero(s): Primo – He works for Naz, the Cartel Kingpin who took him in and raised him after finding him on the streets when he was about twelve. His mother died in a fire when he was ten and he lived on the streets for a few years before Naz found him. He sees Naz as a sort of father figure and if grateful to him.

The heroine: Giada – she is the daughter of a Mafia man and cousin to Maria from the last book in this series. Maria and her sisters (one of which is Alessia) are best friends as well as cousins to Giada and their father Enzo is the Capo. Giada’s father works for Enzo. Giada was raised in what she thought was a normal, very catholic upper middle class home and she only found out her father and uncle were in the mafia a few years back.

The Love Story: Both Giada and Primo are in a Las Vegas night club when they meet. He turns her down when she shows interest, so she steals from him and he tracks her down after she returns home.

The author, Jill Ramsower, is a great storyteller, I really enjoyed Maria and Matteo’s story and this one was good as well. The world building is terrific and I like the fact that all the background story doesn’t take up the greater part of the book. The characters are well developed and thought out and though there are quite a few supporting characters and situations (some from prior books), it is all told in a way that you don’t feel like you are missing anything if you read this as a stand-alone.

Also, the cross-over people and events don’t need a whole lot of background information that gets in the way of this story. There are just some touch points that fit in well with Primo and Giada’s story. I like the way Jill Ramsower builds up romantic tension and heat between the two main characters, so you can see the give and pull between them as well as the conflicts involved in being together.

I tend to like a bit more steam in the intimate scenes, but I am aware that some people like books that aren’t as erotically explicit as other. Not that there weren’t any steamy lovemaking scenes. They definitely had some heat and I loved not having to wait till the last quarter of the book for Primo and Giada to act on their feelings.

It just seemed to me that it was more of a wham bam thank you mam, than I tend to like. I think the intimate scenes were all less than one page from start to finish (though I could be wrong). The story was great though and I would give this one 4.25 stars overall. Though if I didn’t want more detail in the intimate scenes I would probably give it a 5.

I really liked Giada and Primo. Giada at first seemed to be a bit like a spoiled socialite. However, as the story went on she showed she was smart, unselfish and fun. Primo was a bit broody but I love that and he was a nice guy. There were a few surprises as well that I really liked. I love it when you get both the Hero and heroine point of view but you don’t know everything so they can do things you don’t expect.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the 4th book in this amazing series and is Primo and Giada’s turn. Giada is a mafia princess, which is a recent revelation to her, and while out in a casino she spots Primo across the room, and she is instantly attracted to him, but when he rejects her she steals something from him, and goes back to rejoin her friends. When Primo track her down to NYC he convinces her to leave with him to go to his home. Primo is a hitman who work for a Cartel kingpin, and he was after her cousin but could not resist the attraction to Giada. The Cartel and the Mafia are not a good mix, so what will happen to their love? This is a well written story which is intriguing and with twists, secrets, and love, which all had me fascinated throughout this addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend for all.

After following the Genovese sisters, we now get the story of their cousin, the independant and strong-willed Giada. And it’s one hell of a story.

She’s living her life as she wants, apart from her family, a black sheep of sort. Appears Primo, a mysterious stranger who’s going to change everything. There’s an instant connection and it’s explosive. It’s heat and heart rolled into one.

I enjoyed both aspects of the story: the passionate romance, and the mafia part. They were both thrilling and kept me on the edge of my seat. As often with mafia stories, it was all about family–too present or lacking, by blood or not, toxic or supporting.

If you’re looking for extra swoony and steamy with a side of violence and danger, that’s the book you want to read.

Quickie

- Series: The five families #4 (but they can be read as standalone)
- Hashtags: #mafia romance #instalove
- Triggers: domestic abuse, attempted assault, violence and death
- Main couple: Giada Genovese & Primo
- Hotness: 5/5
- Romance: 4/5
- + the chemistry, the passion, wow!
- – they’re quick to accept Primo, I think… also, double standards much?

I am one of the few, it appears, who didn't connect with any of the characters in this book.

It had all the elements of a good story: mystery, suspense, mafia, alpha, hot girl with and independent wild streak but...

I never felt like I knew them. Things happened and I wasn't drawn in to know more. I could put this book down and my mind didn't keep veering back to Primo, Giada, or the story.

This wasn't the first book in the series so maybe starting in the middle messed with me. Maybe if I had read all the other books first I would have felt a more vested interest.

I wanted to like it, I really did try.

Despite the carefree and glamorous life she has, Giada is not fully content. She is looking for something, and that something might turn out to be a someone, as the dark mysterious Primo follows her from Las Vegas to New York to get back the lighter she has stolen from him. Two strong personalities collide within the dark world of organized crime.

I loved reading this book and was pleasantly surprised to see how well Giada and Primo fit together. Giada is the epitome of confidence. However, despite loving strong female leads that Giada embodies perfectly, Primo was the one who had my heart throughout the story. I felt like his character had the most development. Ramsower reveals layer after layer of Primo, making it impossible for you not to succumb to this bad boy with a tortured soul.

The story was compelling with the perfect combination of romance and suspense. I could simply not put it down. It had angst, banter, romance, and all the steamy moments that will make your heart flutter. It is my first reading anything by Ramsower, so it won't come as a surprise if I told you I have already picked up some of the other books in the series ^^

I received an arc for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Every time a new Five Families book comes out, I sucked back into the Mafia life. It also helps that Jill Ramsover writes such believable and interconnects such exhilarating stories that are impossible to ignore. Giada and Primo's account may differ from the others, but it is just as impressive and spellbinding as the others.

“I can’t tell if you were sent as a curse or a divine reward, nor does it seem to matter. You could rain down havoc on my life, and I still don’t think I could stay away.”

Giada Genovese may be the niece of Enzo, the Lucciano Family head, and her father, Edoardo. The mafia princess wonders if she may ever see the dark-haired man from her short visit to Vegas. Little did Giada know, but he would find her and give her the time of her life. She is throwing caution to the wind for the chance of a lifetime to follow her heart even when she isn’t 100% sure of things.

“Our interaction wasn’t tender or sweet. It was primal and raw, and I loved every second of it.”

Primo had once been living on the streets after his mother was killed. He has now been groomed over the past several years to help out the Sonora Cater boss, Nazario Vargas. If only for a little bit; his feelings from being around Giada have him wanting so much more. Knowing what his job entails and the secrets he tries to hide to protect Giada, not everything goes to plan. Can he keep Giada safe while trying to get out of under his boss?

“You aren’t just on my mind; you own my every craving. Nothing smells as sweet as your hair on my pillow. No wine could ever taste as sweet as your lips on mine. No paltry sunset could ever mesmerize me like the flecks of gold that dance in your emerald eyes. You have become my reason for breathing—the thought of another woman is comical compared to what I feel for you.”

Something told me Giada would be different than her cousins. She was mouthy but young, not too young that she was naïve about the world, but young enough that the darkness of her family business hadn’t touched her. I loved how Jill wrote Giada; she is such a strong woman, yet not as hardened as her cousin Maria. She is tough as nails and understands that some things can’t be left unsaid or unspoken if there is trust. Primo was something else. He also reminded me of Matteo, but different in an enjoyable way. I love the push and pull Primo has for Giada, knowing he shouldn’t be involved with her because his lifestyle isn’t the easiest. Though he has intense feelings for her, ones he has never felt for anyone else. Feelings that he doesn’t want to lose give away, or have someone take them from him. I love love LOVE how protective he is of her and how much of a fighter she is. Together they are stunning and balance each other out. I also have a new love for supply closets .

I highly recommend this book, and while it is in a series, you don’t have to read them all, but I would recommend starting with the one before this one.

Open the pages of this book and you will get: a mafia princess, a cartel hitman and whole lot of action and a great amount of steam! I have been reading this author since her first book and I cannot get enough. This story was wonderful and I had a hard time putting it down.

The way these two characters meet, clash, bond and fall in love really heated up my kindle as well as made me want to find my onw hitman, lol. The author does a great job of really bringing the action from both sides of this story together with the romance. I think, I THINK this might be my favorite Five Families story yet. I received an ARC via NetGalley and the author and I am leaving my honest review. 4.50 stars.

This is the fourth book in the five families series and while I hadn't read any of the previous books I had no trouble following it and you can bet I will be reading the earlier books very soon

This book from the word go is set up for conflict Giada Genovese is a Italian mafia princess while Primo is very high ranking in the Mexican Cartel They should be enemies but from the moment when she steal a lighter from him in a Las Vegas casino there is a connection. Soon he is tracking her all over the country and the attraction between them is off the charts but can they have a future together when there is so much between their families

This novel is a hybrid of genres: one part tense thriller, another part passionate romance, spliced down the middle with steamy eroticism. And it works on every level.
A Mafia princess and a senior member of a Mexican cartel, not exactly a match made in heaven. Expect fireworks, as the two come together (no pun intended!)
It's vibrant, engaging and irresistible.

Impossible Odds is the fourth book in the Five Families, this time it focuses on one of the cousins of the three sisters from the first three books. Giada is a feisty, strong woman and a lot of fun to read about. She needs someone who can match her strength without trying to stifle her. Primo is her ideal match and the chemistry between them makes for a fiery match.
Primo and Giada first meet when she steals a lighter off him and this sets the pace for their relationship from there on in. I like strong female leads and Giada is that with some to spare. Due to Primo's position in the cartel and Giada's family, there is plenty for each of them to overcome so that they can be together.
This is another great addition to the five families series. I think that all of the characters have been quite different so far and I'm enjoying seeing each of their stories amuse. In some ways, I did feel that this story wasn't quite done when we reached the end. That's not to say that we're left on any kind of cliffhanger or that Giada and Primo's story doesn't reach a happy conclusion, because there's no cliffhanger and in terms of their relationship all ends as it should. There is clearly more to go with the cartel and Giada's family, but I suppose I'm just going to have to wait and see if that's the case and how it might play out. Either way, I can't wait to read the final two books in this series next year.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
