The Guilt Beneath by John Christensen.
Homicide detective Lucan Kade’s wife disappeared. Never recovered, she became the last-known victim of a serial killer dubbed The Cipher. The killer carved various religious symbology onto the skin of young women, afterward burying these victims alive, leaving behind a severed thumb and cryptic clues to their locations.
Really good read. The cover drew me in. Very disturbing. 5*.

I loved the way this story revisited a historical crime with a view to at least closing the case. Very dark topics here but so, so interesting to uncover the mystery as past and present come together.

This book was sent to me as an ARC on NetGalley. However all opinions are of my own.
Unfortunately this book was archived before I got the chance to read it so I am unable to leave a review.

the cover is what drew me in, I couldn't stop starring at the head it was very unnerving. I'm glad I did because it was a really good mystery with interesting characters.
