The mountain has fallen. This is a great way to wrap the series watching Coll fall in love and seeing his mom acquiesce on his choice of a bride was great. Persephone has been living an assumed life for years until Coll saw beneath the masquerade. They begin a courting dance that is fierce and steamy. They peel back each other’s layers all while he saves her from a killer. It is a story you will want to savor with a glass of wine and enjoy every last word.

Loved the story of Coll and Persephone. Coll is the classical rebellious son and Persephone was an extremely strong willed heroine! Put them together and you have no idea what they'll get into. I liked that Coll respected Persie's opinions and choices. He was nothing like his father in this respect! It was great watching them slowly realize they were falling in love, each with their own faults! The secret reveal near the end I had guessed part of already, but it was still a great read! Thank you for the advanced copy, I had read the brother's stories and couldn't wait to get my hands on Coll's story!

I have read all three books in this series and enjoyed them all. Persephone Jones was a wonderful character as was her hero Coll McTaggert. The romance was great but the mystery of who was trying to kill Persephone felt a bit drawn out.

A huge thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing an ARC of this title in exchange forcan honest review.

This is a love story about finding your other half when you least expect it. It is about being brave enough in front of someone to expose your fragility.

The future of Conall's tenants depends on a successful bride hunt. But Conall is impatient with the debutantes proferred by society.

Penelope Jones loves the life she has chosen for herself. As the most successful actress on the London stage, she has financial security and independence.

From the moment their gazes meet, they can't look away. Neither has room in their agenda for complications, but love has other plans. An attempted murder results in forced proximity, despite Conall's determination to keep his emotional distance and Persephone's determination to remain unattached.
When Penelope finally lets down her guard, Conall is completely entangled.

This was a beautiful story about a strong woman and a protective man, and how they find peace and belonging with each other.

This was a new to me author....and I was absolutely blown away!! I loved this story!! I can’t wait to go back and read the others to this series!! It was such a well written romance, I couldn’t put it down! Our gruff Scot hero, Coll is everything I want in my book guys!! Coll is seriously underrated by his peers. He is actually smart, loyal, & caring. Coll is actually “forced” to find a wife if he wants to keep his funds and property. *He really doesn’t want to marry or fall in love.* So he tell his mother that the actress Persephone is his betrothed! Persephone is our heroine but she actually is hiding a secret that puts her in danger! Coll steps up to protector her! These two have some great chemistry & I could immediately see they were perfectly matched! This book checked all my romance wants & the steamyness!! I highly recommend this book!

I grabbed this because I became hooked on the Outlander show. I’m not sure if it’s just me but now I keep comparing any Scottish inspired historical romance to the show and they all keep falling flat for me. While still a good story, it wasn’t as great as others.

Thanks to an arrangement made by his estranged parents Coll MacTaggert, Lord Glendarill, must wed soon or lose his inheritance. When he meets Mrs Persephone Jones backstage at a Shakespearean play, sparks fly. But it will take unmasking a killer and defying society to find their happily ever after.

This novel has all the things I love in a historical romance: a great couple, intrigue, banter and steam. I love Persephone's character! She is a strong woman who took her future in her own hands in an unconventional way. I wasn't sure about Coll's character after the first two books but the author didn't let me down. Coll is blunt with no patience for society's rules but has the heart of a protector. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Persephone and Coll. Their banter made this such a great read! I liked all the Shakespearean references too. Throughout the whole series the MacTaggert brothers and sister show they can always count on each other.

I recommend this book to any reader who enjoys historical romance or men in kilts. This was a fun end to the series and I can't wait for the author's next book! Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for my ecopy of this book.

DNF @ 46 %.

I am sad that I have to put this book aside but I didn’t find it interesting anymore.

The whole book was actually really slow for me. Not much has happened and I can’t bring myself to finish this book because it is just too dull.

I am almost at the half of the book and I wouldn’t know Persephone was the lady-in-hiding if it wouldn’t say so in the blurb. She’s just an actress who needed a bodyguard to look after her after suspicious accidents at the theater.

Coll is referred as this gentle giant and while this is just the kind of character I usually go for in a book, there’s just not enough happening in the book for me to care for any of the main characters.

The sex scene was really unexpected because I didn’t feel any chemistry for it to happen and it felt more like something an author put at the third of the book to make a reader read more. Sadly, for me, the book didn’t really pull me in and I had no choice but to leave it unread. Shame, I was really looking forward to see Coll and his love story on paper.

You know how sometimes you read a book that hits all of your happy buttons, to the point where it feels like the author wrote the story just for you? That's exactly how I feel about Suzanne Enoch's Hit Me With Your Best Scot. I read an advance copy of the book a few months ago and couldn't put it down. Coll, Persephone, and their journey made me so happy. I smiled, I sighed, I laughed out loud. I cheered so darn hard for these two. Last night, I went back to the beginning of the book, intending to skim key points before writing this review. I wasn't even to the end of the first chapter before I was once again fully immersed in the story. Forget skimming; I savored every delicious word before sighing with delight while turning the final page somewhere around 3:00 AM this morning. So good.

I'll admit I wasn't a big Coll fan in the first two books but his character isn't really fleshed out until he steps into the spotlight in his own story. I love how, with Persephone, he's able to be his true self rather than playing the role that fulfills the perceptions of London society. He's much more intelligent, and complex, than he first appears and Enoch uses skill and subtlety in unveiling those layers to the reader through his interactions with Persephone. He flat-out stole my heart and ended up being my favorite brother.

Persephone is not your usual regency heroine. I adored her intelligence, her confidence, her kindness, and her determination to chart her own course. I loved her fierce protection of Coll, as important as his own of her. I enjoyed that Enoch tempered her independence and strength with vulnerability and tenderness, and that Coll appreciated and respected both. I thoroughly enjoyed her sexual agency, the sensual chemistry she shares with Coll, and the unexpected depth of joy they discover together.

There's a strong family dynamic at the core of the books in this trilogy that deepened my investment in all of the couples. Enoch is so good at creating realistic relationships between siblings and this one is spot on with snappy dialogue among the three brothers that is a highlight of all three books. I love that they fight, and tease, but always have one another's backs, without question. I enjoyed them immensely.

While Hit Me With Your Best Scot is the third book in the series, it can absolutely be read on its own. However, as all of the siblings weave in and out of each other's books and their fractured relationship with their mother evolves throughout the series, I do think your enjoyment of the characters, and their stories, will be richer if the books are read in order.

4. 5 Stars
Coll MacTaggert, the eldest of the brothers, is a brawny, stubborn Highlander who will not be tricked to the altar by anyone—not even his own vexed mother, who’s engineered the ultimate plot: Marry an Englishwoman, or forfeit the ancestral estate. But when Coll crosses swords with the clever, enchanting, and anything-but-common Persephone Jones, he realizes he may have met his match in the beguiling, beautiful woman. The problem is, Persephone isn’t interested in marriage. Admired, free-spirited, and independent, she’s also an expert at dodging marriage traps. She doesn’t need a stubborn, headstrong Scot disrupting her life, even if he sometimes seems to know her better than she knows herself. When Coll discovers that Persephone is actually a lady-in-disguise and that someone is after her inheritance so Coll promises to keep her safe & find the culprit.
This is the third & final book in the series, it could easily be read on its own but I fell in love with the three MacTaggert brothers so highly recommend the whole series. I’ve loved Coll from book one, he's been my favourite & his story was engrossing. The verbal banter between Coll & Persie was delightful & the chemistry between them sizzled. I also loved how they both fell hard & fast for each other. Someone was out to kill Persie & Coll's family weren't enamoured of him courting an actress so their road to an HEA was eventful & very entertaining. My only quibble is that I would have loved an epilogue to round off the series & tie a couple of lose ends
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

The third installment in the Wild Wickes Highlander series was so entertaining. I loved both main characters, they were true match in every way, full of wisdom and humorous dialogue.

Coll MacTaggert, the oldest son of Lord and Lady Aldriss, must marry before his sister otherwise the family goods in Scottland won't be funded anymore. To do so, he has only 4 weeks to find an English woman to wed. While his mother tries to throw every eligible young lady towards him, he meets the famous actress, Persephone Jones, by accident.
They are attracted from their first exchange but unfortunately social standards would frown upon a compatibility such as this. Social etiquette simply did not approve of it.

Persephone's heart beats madly whenever she sees the the Scottish gentle giant, but her freedom and love for theater wouldn’t allow for any kind of marriage. Or could it be something else? Perhaps something from her past, maybe escaping her demanding parents or another hurdle? What would prevent her from having her HEA.

One scandalous affair and an attempted murder...

Can Coll MacTaggert save Persephone from being hurt and protect his heart at the same time?

Find out for yourself... I loved every bit of this amazing fun story.

First and foremost, major props for the incredibly puntastic title and the earworm it comes with.
This book is a fun and romantic ride-along with a couple that you just know is perfect for each other the second they meet but the anticipation of how they will eventually end up together is half the fun.
I love Coll and how he just takes everything in stride despite not fitting in at all within the confines of the Ton, and Persephone with all her mysteries is the perfect partner from him. Reading about them taking their lives in hand and deciding to live how they want is great. Getting to see his crazy family be along for the ride and the great little detail with his parents is the icing on top. Not to mention the mystery behind the events that end up pushing Persephone to accept Coll's help and protection.
It really is a fun read that hit all the great romance trope buttons. Highly recommended.

Many happy thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the early read.

In the third instalment of the Wild, Wicked Highlander, our last of the MacTaggert brothers must find his bride and he only has two weeks to accomplish this feat and ensure the continued financial support of his people!

Ever belligerent and reticent to the task forced upon himself, Coll MacTaggert, Viscount Glendarril finds himself away from his prospective brides at the theatre and backstage where he meets the ravishing and unique lead actress, Persephone Jones.

After rescuing Persephone from her very insistent admires, a friendship is struck between her and Coll. Coll decides to take things further and informs his matchmaking mother that he has selected his bride, the infamous actress! In order to get Persephone to go along with his ruse, he promises to act as her bodyguard when stage occurrence start threatening her safety…

Can Coll find himself a wife and ensure Persephone salty before his time is up?

This one starts off a little slow in the first chapters, this story picks up steam quickly as the romance and danger increases. By the end of the book, I didn’t want to put it down! Coll started off surly and insufferable, until he has a purpose, and protecting Persephone gives this natural leader and protecter his purpose. I also loved seeing the other two brothers with their wives back in the story to help Coll in his task and in finding his own HEA his way!

Hit Me With Your Best Scot by Suzanne Enoch is scheduled to release February 9th, 2021.

It's easy for Historical Romance novels to get stagnant. No matter what you do, every book has a similar story line, similar plot twists, and very similar characters. It was refreshing to read a book from this genre that was able to break away from these pitfalls. My only reasoning for giving 4 stars instead of 5 is [I actually rolled my eyes when I read Persephone was from the aristocracy.

Coll MacTaggert and his younger brothers Niall and Aden are strong, strapping, rugged, wickedly handsome, heart-stopping Scotsmen, kilts and all. So why are these dangerously untamed men mingling with the ton in London? Because their mother controls the money and when she left their father in Scotland a dozen or so years ago she made a condition that the eldest son must marry an Englishwoman before their baby sister marries or lose the ancestral estate, period. So here they come, and London society may never recover.

Hit Me With Your Best Scot is the third (and sadly the final) entry in the Wild Wicked Highlanders series by Suzanne Enoch. I wish this was 7 Brides for 7 Brothers or something, because I love these guys and this series and wish it would go on and on. Yes, it’s that much fun. You’ll laugh and swoon and worry over all the trouble the MacTaggert brothers get in.

Coll is the biggest and brawniest of the three, and people that don’t know him tend to underestimate him as just that huge, dumb brother. Not so. He is in no hurry to marry and if he must his plan is to find a bride, marry, and leave her in England while he returns to Scotland. He has no interest in the socialite his mother selects for him. However, his brother Niall does, but that’s another story for another (fantastic) book. By the start of Hit Me With Your Best Scot both Niall and Aden have found their soulmates and are deep in wedded bliss. Coll just doesn’t get it. But time is running out and he needs to find a wife in order to save their land. So he’s going to balls and the theater and hating every minute of it, and scaring most of the young girls he meets.

Enter Persephone Jones. She’s famous, wealthy, independent, and smarter than anyone he knows, and about as interested in marriage as he is. But that’s fine; she’s an actress which makes her totally unsuitable to be the wife of a Laird. He thinks they’ll just have some fun. And when he learns she needs a little protection and rescuing he’s fine with that, too. Only problem is, besides the heat there is some genuine affection there and they are starting to look like the perfect match. How can that be? She has secrets, a lot of secrets. And is in danger, a lot of danger. Can she share her secrets with Coll?

Hit Me With Your Best Scot was such a perfect read. Characters you can’t help but love, a plot that moves right along, keeping you turning pages, smiling, holding your heart, wondering how they will ever escape the danger and the constraints of society. Thanks to St. Martin’s Press for providing an advance copy via NetGalley. I thoroughly enjoyed Hit Me With Your Best Scot and the other books in this wonderful series. I will be looking for more books by author Suzanne Enoch. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Perhaps he wasn’t Macbeth, but Coll MacTaggert might have been some perfect, pagan god of the old Highlands, lit by yellow lamplight and chiseled to stunning perfection by some unknown hand. Trouble, her heart beat in a fast tattoo. Trouble.

Third in the Wild Wicked Highlanders series, eldest brother Coll MacTaggert, Viscount Glendarril, is the only brother to have not found a bride. If you've read the other two books in the series, you'll know that the three MacTaggert brothers have come to London from the Highlands to fulfill a contract that their parents signed when they married. Their mother, Francesca, left the Highlands seventeen years ago after a fight with their father and they haven't seen her since. The contract stipulates that the three brothers all have to be married before their younger sister Eloise or their mother's money will stop funding their home Aldriss Park. With Eloise set to marry in four weeks, Coll is feeling the pressure as his other two brothers have found their wives. When he is escaping two women his mother is pushing at him at the theater, he ends up backstage and meets the one woman who makes him want to get to know her.

“If you’re not careful,” she said aloud, “I’m going to begin liking you.”

Persephone is the toast of the London stage and has been for the last eight years after she seemed to come out of nowhere. She's used to having to dodge unwanted attention but when the striking Highlander saves her from a particularly ardent aristocrat and doesn't force anything from her, she's interested. She's protective of her independence but when a string of accidents that seem to target her, she starts to think someone is after her and keeping Coll close is a good idea. Coll would never leave a damsel in distress and tweaking his mother by claiming her contract didn't say a he had to marry a Lady Englishwoman has him claiming to be Persephone's protector and fiance. It's a fake relationship that is starting to get some emotional strings attached.

He’d saved her life at least once, had left a grand ball and his best chance to find a wife to be certain she wasn’t injured. No, she didn’t quite know how to classify him, but she did know one thing. She trusted him.

After reading and enjoying the first two in the series, I was a little worried that “let my fists do the talking” Coll might stomp about too much for me, but while he bloodies some noses, he's the strong but listening hero Persephone needed. The first half wanders a bit that slows the pace down while the author sets the story and makes sure to give Persephone's theater setting time and spotlight, if you're willing to sit and settle instead of wanting to rush, it does fill out instead of bog down the story. By the 30% mark, Persephone and Coll have hit the sheets (or rather the hay cart) and their hearts are well on the way to love, even if their minds are still caught up in actress and Viscount. Throughout, there is a some alluding to Persephone having a big secret and the hints drop to a reveal at about 60%. The reveal is nothing surprising for seasoned romance readers as the way to a happily ever after is clear.

Persephone Jones was the lass he wanted. Damn all propriety and tradition that said he couldn’t have her. And damn anyone who tried to stop him.

Persephone and Coll are, rightly, the best part of this book and at times I wished they could have just been left to be together. There's some of the emotional angst from Coll and feelings of abandonment from his mother and since this was the connecting thread throughout the series, I do think we should have gotten more of a conversation healing this not only between Coll and his mother but all three brothers hugging it out or something together with her. I just felt like there was still some unresolved angst from this. I also thought the wrap-up and danger from Persephone's secret didn't quite stick the landing at the end. When something is slowly carried throughout a story and built up to have importance, it's easy for it to feel too quickly wrapped up and anti-climatic when it only takes a couple pages to reveal and deal with villains, which happened for me here.

Evidently, she’d been luckier than she deserved. She’d hoped to find a capable man. What she’d found had been an honorable one.

There were times I thought the story could have been tightened and cleaned up because of how it favors a slower pace instead of snappy but I greatly enjoyed how Persephone and Coll dealt with each other honestly (Persephone has her secret but she's honest with her intentions) and with care. I can't help but hope for Eloise to get her own book, with the appearance of their father Angus I hope she travels to the Highlands to replace her English fiance with a Scot. The MacTaggerts are a family I became fond of and would gladly read more about.

Coll MacTaggart, Viscount Glendarril, hates being told what to do, especially by the mother that had left his family behind for England. But he has to marry an Englishwoman and dreaded the prospect until he meets Persephone Jones. She's beautiful, intelligent, and beguiling, but isn't interested in ever getting married. She's content to be an actress, hiding her true identity. When Coll discovers she's actually a lady and in hiding from someone wanting to kill her, his protective instinct stirs.

Following the other hilariously named novels in this series, It's Getting Scot In Here and Scot Under The Covers, Hit Me With Your Best Scot addresses the marriage woes of Coll. He's the eldest son and gruffest of the three brothers, with no patience for the marriage mart, dissembling for the sake of propriety, or reputation. It's not necessary to read the first two books in the series, as all you need to know is worked into the conversations, but Coll is on a countdown. He has less than a month to marry an Englishwoman before his home in Scotland loses funds. His only loophole is that the contract said Englishwoman, not a noblewoman.

Enter Persephone, an actress. She's famous but not socially appropriate, as actresses of the time were seen as little better than mistress material and only a step up from actual prostitutes. She has zero interest in such a thing, but the world has no idea. The arrangement she and Coll make is ridiculous, of course, and only serves to increase proximity and attraction. Adding in precarious situations and the need for protection draws Coll ever closer, even before he discovers the truth about her identity.

I enjoy the snark and give and take in their relationship. Coll never assumes he will dictate her future, and fully expects to be in London while she continues acting. He knows people assume he's stupid and plays it up to the hilt, but is shrewd about the things that really matter to him: home, family, the tenants that rely on his family for their livelihoods, and action over empty words. Persephone is the same way, for all that she's an actress, and her found family means as much to her as Coll's does to him. We have a wonderful ending for everyone involved, and glimpses of the bright future his brothers have as well.

Coll MacTaggert must marry an Englishwoman by the end of the month or his mother will cease to fund their lands, so says an agreement signed by his parents 17 years prior. Well, Coll has found a woman, but not a lady. Persephone Jones, the most well known actress in the ton, has caught Coll’s eye. After Persephone is almost killed by several minor “accidents”, she believes someone might be out to kill her and Coll is just the large, strong Scot to protect her.

I really enjoyed this book. I’ve read the whole series and it was great to see another side of Coll after only ever seeing him through the eyes of others.
Despite all of the drama, there was actually a lot of fun in this book too. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hit Me With Your Best Scot is the third book in the Wild Wicked Highlanders. This has been an entertaining series and I was so excited to finally read Coll’s story. It can be read as a stand-alone but I’ve found it best to read them in order to get the best experience.
Coll MacTaggert, Viscount Glendarril, was frustrated with being forced by his mother to find an English woman and marry in order to save his family’s estates. His plan is to marry some English woman, get his heir, then leave her in England while he returns to Scotland. He has four weeks to find a woman to marry and he doesn’t need his mother throwing women at him. One night at the theater, he finds himself behind the stage rescuing an actress. He was intrigued and charmed by her wit.
Mrs. Persephone “Persie” Jones was a well-known actress in London. Although she appreciated Coll’s help, she knew he was trouble. But when her life is at risk from all the “coincidental” accidents, she proposes to help Coll secure a wife if he will help her.
The book was easy to read, fast-paced, and flowed smoothly. It caught my attention in the beginning, and I was hooked until the end. The intrigue, twists and turns, and mystery are enough to keep you on the edge of your chair. The ending was so unpredictable and such a surprise.
