Wow..... wow..... I am breathless and gripped. This book is an absolute brilliant thriller. It grips you in all the right places lays traps for you and it’s not
till the very end that you see all the little clues that were there all along. What a triumph and wow love love love it. This is such a rollercoaster of a ride suspenseful, engrossing, thrilling, terrifying and just marvellous. It had a flavour of Agatha Christie’s and then there were none sort of vibe with an eerie island a cast of characters and then oooo let the fun (terror) begin.
Loved it!! This just might be my favorite book by the author. There were so many twists and turns. I couldn't put it down because I had to know what was going to happen to everyone and who was behind it. I knew the killer had to be one of the girls who went to the remote Whisper Island to do art, but I wasn't sure which one it was. They could do their art anywhere and they chose an island off of Alaska where they would be all alone. Alaska sounds like a beautiful place to visit, but weren't these girls scared at all. They had no way to call for help and they had to use a boat to get any supplies that they would need. I would have turned around and left after seeing where I would be living for months. The girls didn't even make sure the boat actually worked before the people who brought them there left. I sort of suspected who had to be the killer but I never imagined the reasons behind. Loved the ending when everything was finally revealed. I enjoyed how the book alternated between the characters.
Definitely recommend the book. It was a great mystery/thriller. look forward to reading more books by the author.

📚Whisper Island by Carissa Ann Lynch
This novel is about six friends that decide to take a relaxing trip to an island in Alaska. The thing is that these six friends all have a secret that they are keeping from each other and they all have a reason for this gateway. They are all running from something that can catch up to them.
This trip was meant to be an awesome adventure and relaxing. But from the time they step foot on the Island things start to go wrong. They have unexpected guests. Then things start to get even bumpier for the group. There is a death on the Island and suspicion is at its highest. Who will die? How will they die? Will the secrets come out? Will the secrets catch up to them? You will have to read this book to find out. You won't regret it.
💭MY REVIEW:
I totally love anything that Carissa Ann Lynch writes, she's awesome and I love her writing style. Her writing is just so easy to read and flows. I really enjoyed this book it was very creepy/dark/emotional/horror. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time I just need to know what happened next and I love that she keeps you guessing through most of the book. There are also lots of twists and oh my good moments. I really like all the details that she wrote it really made you feel like you were on the island also. If you like "locked room" type mysteries this one is for you. I very much enjoyed it.

When I first started Whisper Island, I liked it. But the more of it I read, the more I felt bored of everything that was happening in it. I love a mystery with multiple points of view, I like being able to get into the heads of all the characters. I also enjoy an unreliable narrator and going into a mystery with multiple POVs, I just assume one is going to be the murderer so there for there will be an unreliable narrator.
My issue with Whisper Island is that it all of the characters felt too tropey. The four main female characters fit into these perfect character trope boxes just a bit too much, as did the brother/ex-boyfriend. Which made me super uninterested in them. There are also moments that something happens in a chapter or something is said that then is completely forgotten about in the next chapter. Also, I got a bit tired of hearing people's faces described as doughy and how someone was purring in their sleep...(insert confused doughy face).
I also felt the everything that happened in the story was a little too cliche. Nothing that happened took me by surprise and I had who-done-it figured out really early in the book. I go into a mystery/thriller wanting to enjoy it and be taken by surprise but Whisper Island just didn't do anything for me.

Whisper Island by Carissa Ann Lynch was thoroughly enjoyable. The writing is snappy, the chapters are short, the viewpoints are plentiful and the premise is promising.
I admit it, I was some what sceptical when I started reading it. Something about the story didn’t add up and felt at times that this might be a book in a series, as there were references to characters pasts that wouldn’t be revealed until later on. After realising that it was a writing style choice, of hinting at something obivous in the characters pasts that would later on come in to play, I understood that I was overthinking it.
Whisper Island has a straightforward plot. Friends gather on an island to stay there rent-free for how long they want to, to work on their art. Then suddenly one of them ends up dead. Something about the plot felt very Agatha Christie-esque to me and I couldn’t help but make the connection to ‘And then there were none’.
Whisper Island is perfect for anyone looking for a quickly paced thriller that can be read in one sitting with a good premise, good tone and setting and a great twist at the end. I would recommend it to newer people to the genre that want to see what a mystery thriller is and how enjoyable it can be.
Riley, Sammy, Mia and Scarlett are art students at Monroe and working on projects together when one day, Sammy suggests a trip to Whisper Island, Alaska, where they could spend their holidays for free and profit from its remoteness and special surroundings for their artwork. Even though the others are not too keen on spending summer in the cold north, they agree and see it as an adventure. When they are on their way, Sammy announces that her brother Rob would join them, not just does she thus destroy the girls trip, but especially Mia is angry, her best friend should know that after their breakup, the wounds that Rob had caused never really healed. When they finally arrive, it is not just Rob but also his new girlfriend Opal awaiting them in a run-down house. But not only their lodging is a disappointment, also their boat to travel to the next town is out of order and then their whole trip turns into a nightmare when they realise that they are obviously not alone on the island since a murderer is on the loose killing one after the other.
Carissa Ann Lynch has chosen a classic locked-room setting which strongly reminded me of Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None”. Even though the students are not total strangers, they evidently know much less from each other than they thought before their departure. The story is narrated alternatingly from the points of view of the characters thus providing insight in their hidden thoughts and offering the reader, on the hand, clues to what could be behind all this murdering but, on the other hand, also a lot of red herrings which keeps suspense high.
The present events on the island are surely the main focus of the plot, however, the girls’ past, the things they hide from the others – and astonishingly, each of them has quite a story to offer – are much more interesting to unravel. Sammy soon hints at the fact that she did not suggest the trip out of the blue but actually had a good reason to vanish from Memphis and so had her brother. Mia seems to have been in a scandal a couple of years ago which she hopes the others have never heard of but of which the anniversary is close and threatening to make the others a see side of her she prefers to keep hidden. Scarlett struggles with drug abuse and hopes to get sober in the weeks on the island. Riley is new to the group and she is also the one who is quite closed up not giving away too much form herself and her family, so, what does she have to hide?
I liked the atmosphere on the hardly welcoming island which immediately gives you the creeps and fits perfectly to the plot. Speculating about why the six might have been chosen as targets was great fun and finally was revealed and explained. An entertaining and fast-paced mystery following a classic structure.
Mia, Sam, Scarlett and Riley are all artists, attending school together. They decide a trip together to explore their art is just what they need. Whisper Island sounds like a dream, secluded Island off of Alaska with a mansion, theirs for the summer. 3 months of creating their art and friendship, what could possibly go wrong? Before it even begins Sam's brother Rob is also going, much to Mia's dismay. Rob just doesn't just tag a long but his girlfriend, Opal, is in tow. From the moment they arrive the trouble begins, and soon enough it is apparent that a killer is on the island with them. But who is the killer and why do they want them dead? What secrets are they hiding? Maybe the killer is among them?
Carissa does it again, a story that unravels with many twists and surprises. Keeps you guessing until the end. I love stories that keep you enthralled and this was definitely one of them.

This is not my first book by this author but it is my favorite yet by her. This is a suspenseful thriller story that kept me turning pages to the end. I was pulled into the story right from the beginning. This is a story that is written in all four of the MCs point of view. This is a well written story where the characters bring the story to life. The twists and turns kept me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what would happen next. This story is about four friends who spend three months on a island that has its own secrets. I enjoyed that the characters all have their own stories to tell. This was truely a great story that I enjoyed. I highly recommend this book.
I was hooked on this book from the very beginning. I had no idea who was the killer or why he/she was killing the friends one by one. I loved the short chapters from each friend’s perspective....it kept me reading more and more...I kept thinking “I’ll put the book down after this chapter” but the next one was only another 6 minutes so I kept on reading...
Thank you Carissa Ann Lynch, Harper Collins Canada, and Netgalley for the ARC, much appreciated!!
I loved this book!!
6 friends travel to Whisper Island for a 3 month stay to focus on their art, but all of them are hiding secrets... and suddenly people start to die.
This was an excellent “whodunnit” and had an Agatha Christie vibe to it. I loved the characters, I loved everything about Whisper Island (other than a murderer lurking around, I wish I could go to that beautiful, eerie island myself!! Haha!!) and I simply could not put this book down!
If you’re looking for an enticing murder mystery with fantastically developed characters, amazing atmosphere and eerie setting... think a creepy but beautiful house on a gloomy isolated island with the ferocious sea on its doorstep... Read this book 😊
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. I truly enjoyed this!
A well done “who done it” kept me reading well into the night. Four friends from art school have an unbelievable offer...a free home on an island in Alaska where they can each practice their art, while escaping their own secrets. Told from each character’s point of view the reader gradually learns more about each of the four women, as well as two additional characters. The chapters are short and usually end with almost a cliffhanger which makes you continuously think “just one more chapter”. The reader is cast into the role of an observer...like watching a slasher movie and questioning their every move. Is there someone else on the island or is one of them a killer? Watch me! Read on to satisfy the burning question. Many thanks to Carissa Ann Lynch, Kindle Edition, and NetGalley for affording me the opportunity to read an arc of this soon to be published book.
I recently read, and really enjoyed,"She Lied, She Died", by Carissa Ann Lynch so I was looking forward to reading her latest book, "Whisper Island", While it's not a bad read I did find it rather formulaic having recently read 2 similarly-plotted books set in different locations, the group of supposed friends with secrets from each other alone in a secluded and threatening location when the killing starts with each seemingly having a motive. In this case it's a group of female art students who go to a remote Alaskan island ostensibly on an artist's retreat. The brother of one of the girls, the ex-partner of another turns up unexpectedly on the island and things don't go to plan right from the start.
It's a plot-line that's been used several times since Agatha Christie penned "And Then There Were None" , which the author gives a nod to in her own book, as she does slightly bizarrely to Scooby Doo with 2 of the characters comparing themselves to Daphne and Velma before they find themselves staying in a scary old house at the centre of a mystery.
I didn't find any of the characters particularly likeable and having read a very similar book by another author just before this one I could see many of the "surprises" before they arrived and there were too many coincidences linking the main characters for it to be believable. Maybe if I hadn't enjoyed "She Lied,She Died" so much I wouldn't have expected a bit more,I'm sure an author of Ms Lynch's obvious calibre could have written this on auto-pilot.
Having said all that it's quite entertaining , an easy read and I suspect my opinion has been slanted by reading something so similar just before it.
A group of friends arrive on Whisper Island in Alaska. The only problem is that one of them is a murderer. Which one and why?
Loved the different characters and that the book was told from the different points of views. The book was very fast paced and I certainly didn’t want to put the book down.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book
Whisper Island has my favorite type of trope: a locked room mystery. If anyone has ever met me they'd probably know that an instant selling point for basically any novel would be a set of characters in an abandoned location trying to figure out who the killer is before they all get picked off. It's a scenario so perfect for great plotting and having a great atmosphere, and Whisper Island has just that.
In this reiteration, we get a group of friends heading off to an island for an isolated retreat with a few uninvited guests. We are introduced to most of the characters before they visit the island, so it's nice not to be overwhelmed by names or things you'll have to remember before the action starts.
It's a little bit more slow paced than I was expecting, but it was nice to see the author easing off the gas when tensions were high. It was key to make you feel as unsettled as the characters, but the wait and the suspicion in the end is worth it in an abrupt and almost startling reveal.
Definitely worth check out Whisper Island if you are also a fan of these "last man standing" type of murder mysteries, and maybe this one might catch you off guard.
A fast paced thriller. Each character had a voice and it was nice getting everyone;s thoughts as the book unfolded. kept me wanting to know more and trying to piece together the suspect ...was expecting the last twist but all in all a solid entertaining book. Great storylines.
Thank you netgalley for the arc
2.5 stars
I've never read anything by this author, but this summary sounded interesting. Sadly, I didn't really connect with the characters, and the writing was just okay. Normally, I enjoy stories told from multiple POV's, but since I didn't really care about the characters, it didn't work for me in this one. I might have liked it better from just one POV. Agatha Christie is referenced, but I didn't really have an Agatha Christie feel to this story, as I'd expected.
I liked the book, so many secrets , so much pain. Riley wants to to revenge her sister's death, and her plan is interesting.
Thank you Netgalley for this nice story.
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. Although very slow to start the storyline picked up and ended up being an okay read, not the best just okay
Thank you for the ARC.
This was one of the best mysteries I have read in a long time! I could not put this book down! All the secrets each character had!!
The characters evolved and I liked the way the story continued through different character”s point of view.
Will definitely recommend!!
Thank you #netgalley and #onemorechapterharpercollinsuk for the arc of this book.
Whisper Island tells the story of six friends/acquaintances, all having something to hide. Six friends go to Whisper Island. Only one will return.
Riley, Scarlett, Sammy and Mia are all students at a prestigious art college. All are feeling a bit burnt out and out of ideas so when one of the girls suggests going away together to work on their art and see if they can collaborate on a project, all are in complete agreement. Sammy's presents them with pictures of a beautiful mansion on Whisper Island and the best part, it's free! They just have to pay for air fares.
Things don't start well. When they first arrive, they see the mansion is in complete disarray, it looks nothing like the pictures and doesn't sound like the description. Then three of the girls are shocked to find out that Sammy has invited her older brother along on the trip and lo and behold, he's already there, with a girlfriend to boot.
On a walk around the island, they find a skull and freaked out, decide they want off the island. Heading out to their only way off the island, they find it full of holes. Was it always like this, or is it sabotage?
Then Scarlett finds the unsettling journal that paints a picture of murder and revenge. And one of the girls is murdered. So it begins, the battle to survive and get off the island. Who is the murderer amongst them? Will they figure it out before it's too late?
I loved this book. I loved the atmospheric, almost claustrophobic feeling of being on a island and having no way to leave. It was incredibly well written, I didn't figure out who the murderer was which is rare for me. It did feel a bit young adult but that didn't put me off. I highly recommend this book especially if you enjoy locked room/remote island thrillers.
