I had the opportunity to read an early review copy of Whisper Island via Net Galley.

This story is told in the voices of Mia, Scarlett, Riley, and Sammy, four young women who met in college, seemingly drawn together through their art. There are a couple of added voices, those of Rob and Opal, as well. What better way to escape the secrets of your past than to take an opportunity to go to Whisper Island? Who would think that such an amazing sounding trip would end up in such tragedy?

What I liked about this book: Ms. Lynch’s uncanny ability to lace clues all throughout each chapter, leading the reader to keep turning pages.

Who this book would appeal to: Anyone who likes a tale shrouded in mystery and is enjoying reading as Ms. Lynch continues to entertain us with her writing ability, each book seemingly better than the last. (My favorite still holds at She Lied She Died, newly released December 2020).

What I didn’t like about this book: Nothing, other than the fact I couldn’t read it in one sitting as I do have to sleep at some point!

I look forward to Ms. Lynch’s next book! I truly am impressed at her ability to hone her skill in storytelling. Another good read! Publishing February 2021.

Omg!!!! Love this book.

I was hooked right off the bat. It feels like a YA book as 6 college students go to a creepy island home. It reminded me of the Addams family home but on an island.

The book is a revenge story. The friends on the island all have secrets. Everyone is a suspect.

This book kept me guessing the twist until the end

I didn't read the blurb on this book, I just saw the title and the author and knew I wouldn't be disappointed and I wasn't. I don't think I will hear the words 'watch me' in the same light again.

The story is told mainly from the four girls point of view and flows without backtracking. I loved this style of writing. The girls all had secrets and they twisted around the story perfectly. I loved the creepy, thrilling and murderous plot. The ending was brilliant. Highly recommended.

Scarlet, Riley, Sam and Mia have planned the adventure of a lifetime, a trip to Whisper Island. It promises to be fun and exciting and provide a lifetime of memories. And it will, just not in the way the four friends are expecting. Their trip goes wrong almost from the beginning when Sam’s drug addicted brother and his girlfriend show up. Then there’s the feeling that they aren’t alone on the island and when people start dying, the girls’ worst fears are confirmed,. Who would want to kill them, is there a stranger, a madman lurking somewhere on the island? Or is it worse, is it someone closer than they could ever imagine?

Great mash-up of popular teen horror series and movies including Harper’s Island, Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island meet Cabin in the woods and first movie of Friday 13th series without Jason Voorhees and its disturbing music at the scenes when he is about to attack.

What a delicious, wild, scream charmer, nail biter, blood freezer, jaw dropper combination ! I felt like I watched an action packed, fast pacing, thrilling , edgy, twisty movie which is rated on IMDb around 6.2 ( meta score might be around 47 , I cannot guess the exact Rotten Tomatoes point: they’re tougher grader so it would be between %40- %55)

Four art student friends decide to rent a house at the Alaska to get away from the stressful city life, their struggles and own problems to focus on their works. They want to collaborate for creating their masterpiece.

Riley can create the hell of complicated puzzles : new member of their group, shy, introvert, reminding you a sneaky mouse, observer, quite as Scarlett who befriended her at the first place is social butterfly who is living and breathing through her social media accounts, connecting with her fake friends. She has drug related problems.

Sammy is analytical , bossy, graphic genius, dealing with his drug addict Rob’s problems and Mia who dated with Rob, a privileged artsy family’s daughter who has unique, grotesque painting style.

As they planned their travel , they have no idea the place they will stay rent free( thanks to Sammy’s brother’s close connections) is dilapidated and strange place located at Whisper Island, creepy, spooky and in the middle of nowhere. And surprise, surprise : Rob also joined them with his new girlfriend Opal. ( I wish her name was Opel and last name is Vectra. Okay: worst joke alert! I already pinched myself as punishment) He not only broke Mia’s heart, shoving his new girlfriend to their face, he also starts flirting with one of them.

And as you imagine like Christie’s famous “And then there were none! “ they start to die one by one! One of them is the vicious killer who has a different agenda.

It was entertaining, easy to read, gripping novel ! Only negative thing about it: we can foresee the perpetrator from the beginning. It’s like he/ she wears a t-shirt printed: “ Watch me, I’m the bad guy”

The motive of the killer was understandable but there are still some plot holes about the reasons which turned him/ her in to a psycho killer Qu'est-ce que c'est!

So I cut some points but as like the author’s other works, this was quite heart pounding journey suits with lots of popcorn, great red wine and multiple chilling moments! I’m rounding up 3.5 stars to 4 I love thrillers which take at one location and I adore “And then there were none” / ten little Indians theme stars!

Let’s sing “Watch me nae nae” from Silento together after you finish the book! ( you may understand what I mean as soon as you devour the pages! )

Special thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins Uk/ One more chapter for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts.

The setting is descriptive and well done, and you can imagine being on this creepy island full of secrets. However, the characters could be more developed as they felt pretty one dimensional. I can also see this being more appealing to the college-aged crowd.

Kindly received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A good read.
Riley, Sam, Mia and Scarlett, their trip to Whisper Island was meant to be a once in a lifetime adventure – just four young women, with everything to live for…
But as soon as they arrive things start to go wrong. First there is the unexpected arrival of Sammy’s drug addict brother and his girlfriend Opal – why are they here?
And then the deaths begin.
Thanks to NetGalley and One More Chapter for giving me an advanced copy.

Carissa Ann Lynch will have your heart pounding as you desperately flip pages in her new thriller, ‘Whisper Island,’ to be published February 5, 2021. She’ll transport you to a remote island where everything is forgotten. It doesn’t whisper with ghosts – that’s not how it got the name. You’ll have to read to find out!

Four university friends planning an art retreat decide to take advantage of an offer to stay three months at a small mansion on an exclusive island off the tip of the Alaskan peninsula. They all agree that the cost of the 14 hour flight from Memphis, Tennessee is worth free accommodation. That should have been a warning; something that sounds too good to be true usually is too good to be true. When they arrive in Alaska and charter a boat to the island, the thunderstorm is the least of their worries; through the dense fog they can see that their accommodation looks abandoned and unkempt. More surprises await. There are two additional guests waiting for them inside – a brother to one of the girls and his girlfriend. After the six guests explore and settle in for the night, things take a turn for the worse. The dreamy art retreat turns into a nightmare and suspicion runs high as the deaths begin. Is it one of them? Is there someone else on the island?

This five-star read had my heart pounding and my nerves fraying! Slightly reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s ‘And Then There Were None,’ Carissa Ann Lynch’s novel excited my senses and made me jumpy. It was horrifying (not gory, just shocking), but I wanted more so I kept reading. Not only was the suspense brilliant, but the writing style is so gripping. For example, as the friends were nearing the shore of Whisper Island they noticed “the water sloshed over the banks of the island, hungry and reaching.” Personifying the island and the waters of the Bering Sea added to the eerie setting. In addition to the superb writing style, Lynch’s plot was well paced and full of unexpected twists. The synopsis revealed that only one would make it off the island and therefore readers are propelled by their inner detective to hypothesize which guest was next and who/what killed them. I was completely shocked at the ending. I didn’t see it coming. Similar to ‘And Then There Were None,’ the shocker is at the end when you think the author has wrapped it all up with a bow, she hasn’t! Lynch crafted such an atmospheric read that heightened all my senses. I couldn’t have put the book down if I needed to…I read it in one sitting! You’ve got to pick up this exceptional thriller to discover why it’s called Whisper Island and which one of the guests is the murderer!

Thank you to Carissa Ann Lynch, Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter, and NetGalley for this phenomenal gift in exchange for an honest review.
