I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Whisper Island is a fast-paced, edge-of-your seat closed room mystery. 6 friends (well, 4 friends, a brother, and a girlfriend) are staying on a remote abandoned island. One by one, people begin to die. Who is the killer? Is it one of the friends, or is someone stalking the island and picking them off?
Thank you NetGalley, author Carissa Ann Lynch, and One More Chapter for giving me a free E-book arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Even since I read "She Lied, She Died" I have been excited to read this authors books. She has a great ability to draw readers into a compelling story, characters, and the suspense of what is going to happen next. This story follows a circle of six friends, who decided to have a get away vacation to a secluded island. While believing it to be a great place to cultivate their art, weird things begin to happen. As the past begins to surface, can the friends outrun the sins of the past?
This book had a lot of echoes of "And Then There Were None." While the chapters were told in the different povs of the characters, it felt like some of the character voices did not match the pacing of the action of the story. The characters did not have a lot of development outside of the needed developments for the plot. The book will keep up turning pages well into the night until the very end! Overall, I recommend this book to those who like mysteries/thrillers!
“Welcome to Whisper Island, I think you’re going to love it here.”
Pretty Little Liars meets And Then There Were None in this compelling young adult mystery. I had an idea about who the killer could be but still I was glued to the pages, racing through them to see if my suspicions were correct. Gripping and smart from start to end.
So I flew through the first 215 pages of this book, the characters in the story had me guessing and I couldn’t put it down. Then I figured out who the killer was, I think too soon and it slowed it down for me. But it was still a solid read! The ending was still twisty and there was no nice neat bows here anywhere.
Whisper Island starts out with 4 college friends taking a trip to a supposedly gorgeous remote island. Things start happening as soon as they arrive. Firstly the place is very run down and only accessible by boat. A mysterious journal is found along with a human skull. And then people start dying. Who would want to hurt these girls? Are the two unexpected guests to blame? It soon becomes apparent that all involved have things they want to stay hidden. I really enjoyed this book. Kept me guessing for quite a while.
This book will be published on February 5th.
Thanks to netgalley and One More Chapter for the arc
Four friends plan to visit a private island to relax and work on their art for three months. Sounds perfect but things quickly start going wrong. Will they all make it off the island?
This is truly a chilling book. Each of the girls has their second secrets and at least one is trying to run away from them. The story quickly reveals a creepy journal saying more will die and a human skull is found. Then the killing starts.
The setting is perfect for this book. When the girls arrive on the island they find a dirty and rundown house. They plan to fix it up but that plan is quickly derailed. The island is described beautifully with the buildings and forest. It really allows you to picture being on the island.
I was very surprised by the ending as I did not see it coming. It was the perfect ending for this story. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves horror books/movies.
I expected this book to be scary just from the title, but it was much more than that. never guessing who the killer was and shocked to find it was riley! i loved this book!
I really enjoyed this book, it was a good page turner. Each chapter was a different character, so you get to know all of the characters in more detail.
Six friends go to stay on an Island and not everyone returns. This is what made me want to read this book, I love a good 'who's done it'.
It keeps you gripped and waiting to figure out who is behind it all and what are their motives. Each character has something going on in their past, and there are different possibilities of who it could be and why.
It was a fun book to read and I loved how intense it got and the story kept you interested throughout the whole book.
I would definitely pick up another book by Carissa Ann Lynch, as I loved this one.
DNF... had a super hard time with this one but I want to love it.. I'm gonna pause for a few days and will update my review after I finish. Thank you
This was a fun popcorn thriller in the vein of Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None."
I enjoyed it, but it was totally predictable and read like a Young Adult novel so I had to get used to that. The characters raise their eyebrows constantly at each other and look concerned, but I still was interested enough to finish the book. I only wish it was a bit more descriptive because the setting of an Alaskan Island sounded amazing and I wanted to get to know the characters more.
Girlfriends Riley, Sam, Mia, and Scarlett each have their own unique style and artistic expression. When trendsetter Scarlett posts photos of a collaborated project it goes viral. They decide to take a trip to focus on their work and better market their idea. Sam finds the perfect location, Whisper Island, an isolated but scenic location off the coast of Alaska. They plan to spend the next three months alone focusing on their art. As soon as they arrive things begin to go awry. Their lodging has been abandoned for some time and left to rot, Sam's drug addict brother joins them with his new girlfriend Opal, and then someone gets murdered. As their dream getaway quickly turns into a nightmare they are forced to confront their darkest secrets. Someone wants them dead...and the killer might be closer than they know.
Whisper Island is a thrilling YA murder mystery set on a remote island in Alaska. Four art students, each with unique personalities, plan for adventure and end up stranded on an island with a killer. The story switches between the perspectives of each character as they try to figure out how to escape the island before the killer hunts them down. As the story unfolds we learn that each of the characters hides secrets that could hold the key to determining who the killer is. Could there be someone on the island with them or is one of them the killer? A perfect YA whodunit with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing until the end.
WOW what an intriguing opener,
“ Six of us are going to the island. Only one of us will make it back’
Well that had me 100% hooked!!
Four art student friends Mia, Scarlet, Samantha and Riley go to Whisper Island. They are going away to concentrate on their art along with Samantha’s brother Rob and his new girlfriend Opal.
Rob has booked for them to have the use of the island for free which he arranged with a friend. The house is a bit run down but seems ideal for them to use as a base, away from the. crowd to concentrate on collaborating their art together.
When someone is murdered their dream breakaway turns into a nightmare!! Are they alone on the island or is someone out there watching them?
The story is told from the girls point of view, as they individually reveal their own secrets.
I loved this book. A great murder mystery with the added twist of being trapped on an island , made this a creepy read that I could not put down.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.
Synopsis: Four female friends take advantage of using a private island for free to have an opportunity to work on their art, however, the reader soon finds out that each woman is there to escape something in their life. Shortly after they arrive at the island, things don’t go as they had planned and soon the murders begin. Is there someone else on the island they don’t know about, or is the murderer one of them???
My thoughts: I enjoyed the atmospheric descriptions of the island, spooky buildings and weather and I found that it added a lot to the story. The author pays homage to Agatha Christie and the story “And Then There Were None” so the plot was somewhat predictable, however, I didn’t correctly guess the killer so high five to the author for pulling that off.
Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Collins for providing a free copy of this book to me in exchange for an honest review.
I will be posting this review on social media, Amazon and my blog on publication date and will add the links here at that time.

This book was absolutely addicting! Once it grabs you in, it does not let go. I did NOT want to put this one down. Carissa Ann Lynch did a phenomenal job. "Whisper Island" keeps you guessing and the atmosphere is so intense, I just couldn't get enough. Each chapter is told in the viewpoint of different characters, which I really liked, it let me get to know each of the characters more and more while enjoying the creepy atmosphere from the different viewpoints and trying to figure out who is behind everything. This book was just so good in every way, I can't recommend it enough. I saw that the author will be charging $2.99 for this book which is a complete steal - it is easily worth that and so much more. I recommend this book to everyone! I would totally not complain if there were a sequel - I couldn't get enough of "Whisper Island".
I got really sucked into this story , it had me on the edge of my seat petrified and anxious to find out what would happen . I never thought I would love this book as much as I did , but I loved the authors writing style and found it different to what I’ve read before.
I really enjoyed all the multiple points of view throughout this , I thought it be might of been hard to follow with its changing between them but I found it really easy to follow still. I found each character added to the suspense.
I really couldn’t put this book down and read it within a day, this book was creepy, dark, emotional and kept me edge the edge of my seat the whole time while reading it, I found the author kept me guessing all the way through this book till the very end.
I have never read from this author before and since finishing I’ve already checked out her other books.
I received this book via netgalley in exchange for review, I want to thank netgalley and publisher for allowing me to read this .
If you like murder mysteries a la Agatha Christie, you will absolutely love this one. I loved the different perspectives for each chapter. It definitely helped to keep me guessing about the characters and possible motives. Great descriptions and characterization throughout. Loved this thriller!
Six friends travel to Whisper Island, hoping for inspiration and adventure. All of them are running from something and hiding troubling secrets from their pasts. When they arrive, things start to go wrong as the past catches up with them. And then the deaths begin...
I’m seriously such a sucker for a locked-room mystery, and this one was a great setting for a creepy story. It’s told from multiple character’s perspectives, which makes for a quick enjoyable read. That being said, I found several of the characters unlikable and couldn’t find myself rooting for them. The pacing was slow, and I found the twist fairly obvious early on. I enjoyed the writing style enough, however, that I could see myself reading more by this author!
I loved this book! I am a sucker for locked-room mysteries or remote island mysteries in this case. The author kept you guessing for the entire book and I was so sucked in, I couldn't put it down!
I loved Whisper Island and found I was hooked from page one. It follows the story of Riley, Mia, Sammy and Scarlett, four college graduates who all seem to have secrets. After being offered the chance to spend three months on Whisper Island off the coast of Alaska, they jump at it. Twelve weeks of adventure and time to dedicate to their art and leave the rest of their worries behind. Although soon after arriving things start to go wrong, starting with the arrival of Sammy’s drug addicted brother Rob and his girlfriend. Then the deaths begin. Is there someone else on the island or do they need to look closer to home.
This book is totally addictive and I read it in just over a day. I would rate this book 4.5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley, One More Chapter and the author for the chance to review.
This is one of those ‘locked room’ mysteries that have become so popular lately. You know the deal - a bunch of people gather in some remote location and events conspire to cut them off from civilisation and then the games begin. So there was nothing unique or different about this plot. Nevertheless this story line can be presented in a very gripping and dynamic way. This particular book didn’t quite get there.
Four friends from art school decide to spend the summer on a remote Alaskan island (Whisper Island) to focus on their art in a sort of retreat before they begin their ‘grown-up’ lives. Of course it helps that each of them has a reason to make themselves scarce for a while. Scarlett, Riley, Sammy and Mia are all quite different and have different artistic expression but they all talk themselves into looking forward to the trip, after all, it’s free! Sammy’s brother Rob teed it up for them, an old friend of his, whose family own the island, said they were welcome to use it.
It isn’t until they reach Alaska that Sammy owns up and tells them Rob is coming too and will join them a day later. Nobody is happy about this, especially Mia who had her heart broken by Rob. But it’s too late to call it off. The next morning they are ferried the 10 miles to the island. Their first glimpse is not promising, unlike the glowing pictures they saw on the internet, the structures on the island look very rundown. When they get inside though they see that, apart from dust and a bit of mould it’s not too bad. What is bad, however, is that Rob is already there and he has brought his latest girlfriend, Opal.
They try to make the best of it but the next morning they find the boat, which, they are to use getting supplies from the mainland, has a hole in it. Surprise - no! And then the killing starts. In the course of the book you learn all their secrets. Unfortunately the author herself kind of gave the game away early in the book. I don’t know if it was intentional but I had an idea who was behind it all from very early on. The first half of the book was a bit slow and repetitive. It got a lot better in the second half but the suspense was somewhat lost on me. While this book didn’t hit it out if the park for me, I am still keen to try another book from this author and I’m giving it three stars. Thanks to Netgalley, HarperCollins UK and Carissa Ann Lynch for providing me with a copy to review. My opinions are my own.
