AHHHHH
This book was a nominee for the Goodreads choice awards!!!!!
I read this book for a bookclub on Goodreads called Those Who Live on Dance and Music and I found myself really enjoying this book. I didn't rate this 5 stars because I enjoy sci-fi and dystopian books more. But 4 stars is still a very good rating. This book was really cool. Many people might not know what it's like to be a famous artist but this book shows you. It was really inspiring and I would recommend this if you enjoy memoirs
Mariah Carey has always been an enigma in spite of her flair for drama, so this book gave me a chance to get to know a bit about her. And I mean the real her. The Mariah she was before she became the diva she is known as today. She reveals tragic details about her childhood through the use of her whimsical spirit. She shares how finding her voice was a way to help her survive in her own way, and how it started off small and quiet before she allowed herself to really sing. While the book provided some insight into who Mariah is, don't expect it to be a complete tell-all. After all, a Diva never tells.
Mariah has always been an exceptional artists and I have never been more excited to read a memoir in my life. Just like her wonderfully written lyrics you get her tone of voice and sense of humor throughout. She has always had amazing vocabulary, imagination, and business acumen. Whether she's describing an olympic size pool with a pristine reflection of the night sky or a nano second encounter with Tupac driving by her makeup trailer in a white Rolls Royce, I can vividly imagine myself there and it send chills up my spine. If you happen to be reading this review and have not yet read "The meaning of Mariah Carey", what are you waiting for darling?
