This may be my new favorite Adele Parks. Excellent twists and character development.

Thank you to the publisher for allowing me an advanced copy of this to enjoy!

We've all heard money breaks up all relationships - friendship, family, all of it.
A group have bought lotto tickets, used the same numbers. After a falling out, Lexi and Jake continue the trend. And WIN.
This book could have been cut down by 100 pages - I skipped the bulk of it.

Winning the lottery turns out to be less than they'd hoped for Lexi and Jake because this is the first time they haven't played with their friends. This becomes a bit of a thriller (although it sags a bit in the middle) as things go sideways for them. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. Will make a good beach or travel read.

The same friends have played the same lottery numbers together for years, but what happens when one couple wins? We all know how greed can change people, but how far will others go to get a cut?

This book was just okay for me. None of the characters were very appealing to me, and the complete idiocy of the actions of the characters after the lottery win started to annoy me. Lexi’s overwhelming goodness was a bit unbelievable, and I didn’t like how she let herself be such a pushover.

I ended up skimming the end because I wasn’t super intrigued and felt like the story just dragged on.

Sooo incredible! Better than I expected. I felt so stressed and on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book because the twists and turns just kept coming. And then the very end - I was truly shocked. Can’t recommend this one enough!!

Sadly, this wasn’t a favorite. I made it to about 75 % and just didn’t care enough to finish. I have read other books by the author and really enjoyed them. This just happened to be a miss for me.

There isn’t a single book by Adele that I haven’t liked. This may be one of my new favorites next to I invited her in. This book unraveled at a nice easy pace for me perhaps a bit dragged out but over all a good read. There was quite a few unexpected twists and that made it even better. I give this book a 3.5/4 can’t decide!

I featured this one on my blog with an excerpt, I forgot I had this one and have other books that seem more promising!

You have the winning lottery ticket in your hand... but there once were other couples who chipped in for it with you ....and just before the winning ticket came in, they didn't.

Neighbours, their kids dating, lives intertwined... a twisty suspense thriller that keeps you cliff-hanging throughout the entire novel.

A huge thank you to NetGalley, Adele Parks and HQ for providing me with an ecopy of this publication which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review.

Talk about anxiety inducing! Between the drama surrounding the second couple, and the way the money was being spent, .I couldn't stop biting my nails. This had me on the edge of my seat for the duration.

Just My Luck had a cool premise of what happens if you do a lottery pool, and disband, but the next ticket wins. For some reason this whole story was making me anxious. Not anxious with suspense but more of "I want out of this drama". I realized this is not my life, and I could bail. For anyone that cares, my opinion was that they disbanded, so they have no stake any further in the win.

Just My Luck by Adele Parks was a bit disappointing. I love her books but had a hard time getting through this one as it seemed to drag on and on. #JustMyLuck #NetGalley

Just My Luck has plenty of greed, jealousy and envy to pull you in and kept me engaged throughout the story! Definitely a good read! I don't know if I will ever buy another lottery ticket after this. LOL!

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for allowing me an ARC copy of this book for my honest review.

**** Patting myself on the back here 'cause I finished it! ****

Hey, I finished it! Okay, I know...that's sounds bad and like a poor reflection on me, but I really almost did not finish this one.

It's not fun.

Okay, yes, it's clear that bad things are going to happen from the description and, yes, it's clear that the book is intended to be dark. But, at its core, a book about winning the lottery should includes some 'champagne wishes and caviar dreams' wish fulfillment before everything goes south. These people? Shopping, car, rent a house ----------- and that's all folks!!!

The people in the book are terrible. The mom is okay and I didn't hate her, but I wanted her to grow a spine on one than more occasion.

I finished the book and I was interested in how it would all turn out, so...halfhearted 3 star and moving on. But I truly came close to just throwing the digital book at a virtual wall more than once.

This was such a great read. I would say the beginning took a bit for me to really get into it, more of a slow burn start. But once the plot really started to develop I was like holy moly!

There were so many different twists and turns! I totally did not expect the ending which is exactly what you want when reading a thriller. Job well done!

This book just dragged on and on. After I was halfway through I just skipped to the ending. The biggest message is - money can’t buy everything.

Unfortunately I think this will be the last Adele Parks book I read. I used to enjoy her writing and now I find myself slogging through her books just to get to the end.

Lexi and Jake have been playing the lottery with a group of friends for fifteen years, failing to win anything of substantial value. Then shockingly Lexie and Jake win the lottery, worth 18 million pounds. While they’re planning on how to spend their windfall of money, their friends are demanding that part of the money rightly belongs to them. The group of friends is not going to go lightly and things take a dark, twisty turn.

I was very intrigued by the premise of this story but it was slow for a majority of the book. It had some crazy plot twists but not enough of a build up to those twists for me to really be surprised by them.

As far as the characters, the husband Jake annoyed me the most out of everyone. I understand being excited because you won the lottery and now have all of that money at your disposal but I feel like the author portrayed him as the stereotypical mid-life crisis guy that’s going out and buying the crazy cars and blowing money everywhere.
