Found this book to drag a bit - it hardly delivered any tips to make the brain young/how to do that. The mingling of Bible verses and the religion angle throughout also felt like a bucket of dousing cold water
This concise book is both intriguing and informative. It dives into neuroscience and psychology as it takes a look at our brain and how we can maximize its potential. I especially loved how the author discuses Christian principles within the book as well, as religion can play such a large part in brain functioning and well being. The writing was enjoyable and the book was a great and quick read!
I received an ARC from Harvest House Publishers, via NetGalley. This review is my personal opinion.
Our brain's so beautiful and complex at the same time, Norman Wright divides his book into two parts, the first for us to understand the basis of our brains and the second part for different forms of emotions and how they affect the brain and our behaviors, with a great writing style, easy and many relatable situations. This book will help you see you and your brain from a new perspective your response, attitudes, and challenges in life, I had a great time while reading this book. I even decide to make several changes in my life and shared them with my family. I recommend this book, it will be a great gift for any friend and start following the advice he gave in the book.
I was excited for this book for many reasons, but mainly for what the title says, to learn about ways I can keep my brain young. While there is some interesting information in the book, there is also a lot of repetition. I did find some usable ideas to try to keep my brain functioning at its best, but I also found some questionable material as well (such as the use of supplements, which I would love to see the actual scientific research cited for the proof this works, and meditation). There is a lot of technical information in this book, and while there are analogies to explain this in regular speak, some people might get confused…which I did on occasion. Overall, it was an interesting book, but one that will appeal only to a certain person.
