Aromatherapy by Louise Robinson was okay. I found the book more interesting as I went through.
I have read a few books on aromatherapy and I loved that there were super practical blends for me. I found these blends and instructions easy compared to other books and sources.
I did not find the illustrations particularly nice and I felt they cheapened the overall book.
Overeall, there was a small section of this book I could use pretty regularly, but most of it I would never use, but still information worth knowing.
I received an eARC from DK through NetGalley. All opinions are 100% my own.
This was a very nice easy to comprehend guide for beginners who are just starting their journey into essential oils and aromatherapy. The author included a basic history of oils and how they are produced and distilled and the best ways to utilize them in our daily lives. She has included a number of easy to follow recipes for everything from relaxation blends to diffuse, to bath salts and lotions with a minimal number of ingredients. This would be a great house warming gift along with some basic oils and a diffuser, or a nice gift for a dorm bound college student.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The instructions and guidelines are clear and concise. The blends included are very nice. I am a certified soap maker and needed to learn about essential oils. How oils are blended and applied are very important. This book does a great job of doing that. If you are new to essential oils and/or aromatherapy, you will love this book.
This book is about the different essential oils, their use and how to combine them for different purposes. I found the book very informative as a newbie in essential oils. It explains certain ailments and what oils to use for them, how to combine them and in what quantities. The uses are fairly basic to get you started. I also loved that it stated to use only high quality oils as they are not all made the same. There is a nice index at the back to help you find what you are looking for after reading the book.
I really liked the layout of the information. It is laid out very clearly without too much information on each page. Also there are recommended oils that you can swap for the ones that are mentioned in each recipe.
Great beginners and beyond guide to aromatherapy. This book covers what aromatherapy is and what materials are needed, how to use essential oils and offers recipes for a variety of essential oil blends to treat a multitude of issues from sleep, to skincare to emergency first aid.
This is neat new aromatherapy book by Louise Robinson with a focus on self-care. I’ve long had an interest in aromatherapy and went crazy for a while with it, experimenting with different oils to see how they made me feel. I used lots of lavender for relaxing, and I enjoyed sweet orange and lemon to perk up. I tried many others just to see what they were like. I even bought some that were good for dogs. So I got this book to read to see what it had. I wanted to check out combining aromatherapy with medication and breathwork, and see if I can pick up anything new to use in it. You might find something useful too if you are a fan of essential oils. Advance electronic review copy was provided by NetGalley, author Louise Robinson, and the publisher.
A nice introduction into aromatherapy basics. It tells you how to make and use them as well as how to make blends for your needs. It's a pretty short and manageable books with easy to follow recipes.
Aromatherapy is a new theory and practice guide for aromatherapy by Louise Robinson. Due out 12th Jan 2021 from Penguin Random House on their DK imprint, it's 144 pages and will be available in hardcover and ebook formats.
This is a well written, accessible, and fairly systematic treatment of the subject matter. Graphically, it's an appealing book with lots of line drawings, and a clean art style and layout. The text is easy to understand. The introductory sections cover getting started, what aromatherapy is, tools and supplies, making your own blends, some safety and handling tips, and general information. The following chapters include instructions for using essential oils safely in massage, compresses, creams lotions & gels, balms, etc. The third section contains specific blends for various applications: well being and healing blends. The author has included a resource links list (heavily slanted to readers in North America), an index, and an oils list with indications and contraindications for specific uses.
Graphically the whole book has a very relaxing feel and lots of line art illustrations and pastel colorways which appealed to me.
Four stars. Illuminating, useful and worthwhile.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
