I really wanted to like it, i really did. but sadly it did not live up to my expetations - espesially since Scarlet was together and supporting Jack for so long and he was such an asshole, and yes she changed and they broke up. But blah, at the end Jack got his "redemption" and was forgiven for being such an asshold throughout the book.

While there was nothing special about the plot, i really enjoyed this book. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Scarlet has everything if you look at face value, but really shes still realing from her brothers death and doesnt like how her boyfriend acts. Elijah is the schools bad boy, who's also lost a brother and is doing everything he can to keep his mom and him afloat. They unearth secrets that bonds them even closer.

Fight For Her by Liz Plum is a young adult romance, which I enjoyed reading. Scarlet Tucker is a rich girl, who's life seems perfect, but she is still mourning the loss of her brother four years ago. Scarlet's quarterback boyfriend doesn't really care about her, just himself. Elijah Black, the school's bad boy catches Scarlet's eye, Elijah has lost a brother too. I enjoyed this book, and watching Scarlet and Elijah grow. This book contains underground fighting, which I didn't enjoy, but that's just me. I recommend this book for anything looking for a quick winter escape.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Thankyou to Netgalley for giving me this arc for a review.
I didn't know what to expect going into this book since it was originally on Wattpad and their books tend to be cringey in my opinion and Fight For Her sadly fell into that category for me. I found the characters to be one dimensional and didn't like how Scarlet was just a bystander for the bullying that she witnessed in the book. She says she doesn't like it yet she doesn't try hard to stop it. I also found the plot to be boring at parts and way out there at other. This book just wasn't for me.

This book was a fun and quick paced read, and it was something different than the normal love stories that you often find in YA. While it had to same premise as many other books, the underlying story was unique and interesting. I always read on Wattpad when I was younger, so I love getting to read books from Wattpad when they are published because it just proves how great the platform is for authors! I definitely will recommend this book to friends who love YA because it was a fun read with a lot of layers.

I had a hard time getting into this story at first. The characters were not very likeable (with the bullying and shallow personalities) and the story had time jumps where it seemed like it was always Friday night or the weekend. It was pretty confusing and harder to follow. I had a hard time with Scarlet staying with Jack and continually justifying his behavior and thinking that she should stay with him since she loved him. The story did get more interesting the more that we got to know Elijah... but there were still story plot points that seemed pretty far fetched. I just don't see my students sticking with this one long enough to finish it and I am not sure the relationships are healthy ones for them to read about.

I don't want to be unfair, because this was fine. The writing isn't terrible, though it isn't particularly special. The characters are okay, but not particularly memorable. The plot is okay; I do like a grief story, but this wasn't particularly emotionally resonant for me. In a world of amazing books, this isn't one that I would recommend. That said, it isn't offensively bad nor necessarily a waste of time.

Such a good read! Scarlett was a very likable character because of her interests outside the norm of what the world expects women to like as well as her very human insecurities she buries beneath the facade of a "popular girl." Makes the story have so much more depth than ordinary YA novels. Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad Books for a copy of this book for an honest review.

This book was so good! First off I will say I went into it thinking it would be duel p.o.v. but was pleasantly surprised to find out it is singular prospective which was a really nice change for a young adult novel though I'm someone who has no preference when it comes to p.ov. of a story. Secondly, I really enjoyed how our main character Scarlett works at one of her dads Auto shops and knows quite a bit about vehicles because I've only ever seen that in one other book where a girl is into cars and as someone who enjoys cars herself it was something I liked seeing. This book definitely had some surprises in the story but also had one thing that I was able to guess. An overall solid 5 star read for me.

Fight For Her by Liz Plum, 352 pages. Wattpad Books, 2021. $11.
Language: R (52 swears, 8 “f”); Mature Content: PG13; Violence: PG13
BUYING ADVISORY: HS - OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
Seventeen-year-old Scarlet has a loving family, a popular boyfriend, and a great job, but she is afraid of any change that reminds her of the hole left in her heart from her brother’s death. As Scarlet starts to be truer to herself and what she wants, she risks the perfect balance of her life. Is it better to feel the pain and move forward or stay content with where she is?
As entertainment, this book does its job: high school drama, relationship issues, family secrets, gangs, cheesy lines -- there’s a little bit of everything. I was annoyed with Scarlet’s decisions most of the time, but Plum conveyed the reasons why, making Scarlet’s character arc feel realistic. I’m not going to read it again, but I don’t feel like my time was wasted on it. The mature content rating is for mentions of nudity, sex, and pornography; innuendo; underage drinking; and drug abuse. The violence rating is for boxing scenes, blood, gun use, and murder.

Thank you Wattpad books & NetGalley for sending me a copy of Fight For Her by Liz Plum. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Fight for her follows Scarlett Tucker, the girl who seemingly has it all with a perfect boyfriend, academic life, and family. Beneath the cracks we see her struggling with her loss and grief for her brother and she reaches out to Elijah, the mysterious loner at her school.
Now, this is very much "popular girl meets bad boy" so if that's your jam? Add it to your TBR right now, you can go ahead and forget my review, kidding!
Firstly, I am honestly a sucker for all kinds of cliche tropes, this book was definitely that. I enjoyed Scarlett's independence, a lot of the time we see the popular rich girl that even if she feels misunderstood, she still feeds into the stereotypes and money. She wasn't very outspoken, to begin with, but she had small silent defiance and held her own against not only her love interests but her past. Scarlett Tucker while in my opinion wasn't very intense and outspoken, she was coping and existing in a quieter way. To me at least, we first meet her she's just silent. Even when she was talking to someone else or her inner monologue was rambling (which trust me, I definitely do too). she felt like she had lost something to fight for (pun very much intended).
There were definitely some parts where I was reading and just thought "do people even really talk like that? Or do those things?" Which I mean, is understandable because obviously, it's a book but I really wish that I had more moments where I could resonate with the characters more.
I think all of the characters definitely played out how they were expected to, which isn't a bad thing, I wasn't expecting big twists and turns, and the small ones are thrown in there were nice. The book played very much to the trope outline (which can definitely always be a great thing!! People love tropes, I love tropes).
10/10 Job to Plum for writing such a grade A level jerk into her storyline, I fully wanted to get into an underground boxing ring with Scarlett's quarterback boyfriend in the beginning and just yell "HOW DARE YOU HURT SCARLETT AND ELIJAH HE IS TOO PURE FOR THIS WORLD LEAVE HIM ALONE" because you know how you just stop to yell at books? Me too.
I think it was a cute book, took me back to my Wattpad days *reminiscing sigh* definitely a very fantastic job for a debut novel and such a young writer. You're doing great Liz!! Ps. I'm somewhat upset because you're making me want my very own Elijah to slow dance with and I can't handle being in love with so many fictional guys all at once!

For Young Adult readers-this is such a wonderful book! Gut-wrenching, romance, and more- this book delivers on all fronts. Thankful to NetGalley for providing me a copy of this book.

I just finished and I am speechless. Another wattpad treasure. The novel started off a bit slow and very typical, however, once reaching the half way point I couldn’t put the book down. Such a great young adult love story and ultimately every girls dream-someone who will fight for her.

Fight for Her is one of my favorite books! Scarlett is unlike many other female MCs, she’s funny and clumsy but a fighter, as well. Elijah Black is also one of my favorite male MCs, for you can see how patient and strong willed he is. Scarlett and Elijah work so well together and balance each other out, and he didn’t overstep any boundaries when she was still with Jack. The plot is clean and everything is covered, from the backstory to how they solve their problem! I recommend this funny and highly entertaining story to everyone, especially those who love to see a bad boy go soft for one girl, and one girl only!

Such an adorable story. I loved the characters and their character arcs. I was totally shipping Scarlet and Elijah throughout the book and loved the story. It was a quick, light read.

This book completely exceeded my expectations. Starting this book I thought this would be another good-girl-bad-boy cliche, but it goes much further than that. Liz Plum’s development of the characters is brilliant and I loved how all of their backstories were interweaved. It deals with the ‘generic’ high school problems like bullying, popularity and relationships but also explores deeper topics like loss, grief and more. I loved the mystery that accompanied the main plot of the book, which made this story quite unique and different to the usual YA high school contemporaries that I have read. I highly recommend this book and I will also be looking for more of Liz Plum’s work after this lovely first experience.

While it sounds like the classic Wattpad cliché novel, it goes beyond that.
A connection is created between the characters at first that seemed a bit rushed to me as it's a bit of a no-brainer (good girl with bad boy). However, the author goes beyond that cliché and is what made it an excellent novel.
It deals with topics such as the loss of a loved one, the prejudices of others and the accompaniment of the other in difficult moments.
I highly recommend this touching and tender story that will make any reader feel a connection to the characters in the first moment and empathize with them and their pain.

I was excited to have the opportunity to read Fight For Her. The description really captivated me and I also love this kind of trope. We meet Scarlet who has become friends with the "freak" of her school and who doesn't get along with her boyfriend. While reading I thought the author was great at being descriptive of various things; though sometimes I felt like certain things didn't need to be described in such details. The flow of the story was at a good pace and the relationships that are formed makes you rooting for the underdog. There were plenty of twist and turns throughout the story that made me not want to put it down. Just when you think you know how it will end Liz Plum throws a wrench in the story. It's a heartwarming story about loss, seeing people for who they are, finding oneself and family.
I will admit that at first it feels like two different stories and that it can be broken up into a series, but when you get to the end of the story you realize you kinda needed the beginning for it all to make sense. If it edited down more I think you would be missing some key insights into the dynamics of certain relationships and how everything connects at the end.

Scarlet lost her older brother in an accident when she was 14 years old. Now, she's 18 and though her life seems perfect (she's popular, has good grades, and dates the most popular quarterback in her school), her reality is far from it.
Elijah is the local bad boy everyone stays away from, given his reputation and how mysterious he is. But, when he and Scarlet crash in the hallway, there's something more.
Suddenly, they realize they have more in common than they think, and realize that they both can grieve the loss of their brothers together, which only makes them get closer.
Honestly, this book was more than I expected. Though at first it seemed to be a basic cliche love story, it took some twists and turns that at first I could not have guessed. Though predictable and cliche at times, this book had me hooked, and I binged the whole thing in less than a day. It was very sweet and a good comfort read, with just the right amount of mystery and action. It gets a solid 4 out of 5.

I read 95% of this book in one sitting. It was your typical popular girl, dating star quarterback, falls for school “outcast” story. The characters really drew me in though and I couldn’t seem to put it down.
Scarlet had some super annoying “weak girl” moments, but she definitely redeems herself. I went back and forth on my feelings for Jack. And I loved Elijah - period. I really enjoyed the random connections between all of the characters as well.
I think this was a really great, quick, and easy read. I’m looking forward to reading more from Liz in the future.
