Absolutely loved this one! Might be my favorite of the series! Non-stop suspense and a beautiful romance. This book truly has it all! Loved, loved, LOVED! Highly recommend!
The third installment in the Danger Never Sleeps series is just as good and intense as the previous two and is best read in order.
Heather Fontaine is convinced a stalker is after her, but she doesn't know why. After her house is broken into, she disappears to a small town for several weeks, hoping she will dissuade her aggressor. When it becomes clear that she is still in danger, she reluctantly accepts Travis Walker's help, as well as her other friends' escort wherever she goes. As Heather and Travis spend more time together, they begin falling for each other even as they uncover more clues about who might be the one putting Heather in harm's way. Unfortunately, danger is even closer to Heather than anyone could have guessed...
I enjoyed this book just as much as the first two, and it was hard for me to put down because I had to find out what happened next. The characters and events came to life from the pages due to the descriptive, impactful writing. I thought the author addressed the issues of domestic abuse, kidnapping, suicide bombing, stalking, murder, and more very well. I would say that if any of these topics bother you, you might not want to read this book, but I highly recommend it and the rest of the series to anyone who enjoys suspenseful fiction. Lynette Eason has become one of my newest favorite authors because she brings suspense and grit, but in a clean and biblical way, with encouraging and hope-filled messages. I can't wait to read her next book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book from the publisher through NetGalley. A positive review was not required, and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
Romance, contemporary, Christian, sweet; Suspense, mystery, series but stand alone read
Heather's tough and painful background, her work in the military, and her efforts to recover from the tragedy she experienced in the war made for a perfect backstory to this novel. She was an independent woman, strong, capable, caring, but having difficulty accepting help from her friends. Travis was a great character and foil for Heather. His efforts to watch and protect her, and care for her while still recognizing her need for independence was well drawn. The secondary characters, back story and setting were so well drawn.
Loved seeing other characters from prior novels, the mystery and suspense, and a perfect read for me. I actually went to reread the others in the series that I missed after reading this one. L.E. knows how to write Christian Romantic Suspense!
I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. My opinions are my own.
This is an enjoyable and exciting romantic suspense novel from an author who consistently shows that you don't need sex to sell a book. She also manages to insert just a little bit of religion into her work but not so much that it overwhelms and seems unrealistic. I look forward to the rest of this series.
What a wild ride this book was! This is Book 3 of the Lynette Eason’s “Danger Never Sleeps” series. I’ve only read Book 2 prior to reading Book 3 but I’m planning on reading Book 1 and the newest one, Book 4.
Anyway, this book focuses on Heather and Travis. Heather has a stalker and a possible killer after her. Travis will do anything to help and protect his friend. So much events happened in this book. I wasn’t expecting that plot twist either! While it wasn’t a big part of the book, Heather & Travis’s relationship was sweet. The main characters from the previous books of the series were secondary characters as well. It was nice seeing them again and helping out Heather. Caden played the biggest role tho and we get a a POV from him, too. Other secondary characters such as Travis’s family and Ryker, a teen abused by his dad, were great as well. I also liked how Heather and Travis helped and protected Ryker.
Lynette knows how to write a romantic suspense!

Active Defense is a great addition to the Danger Never Sleeps series by Lynette Eason. I give it four stars.
Wow, this one was an action-packed thriller! I especially liked that I couldn’t figure out all the plot twists ahead of time. This was a great story to add to the Danger Never Sleeps series. Only one more book to go, and I’m eager to get to it to find out what happens next in this heart-pounding series.
The characters were amazing. Heather was a wonderful lead to cheer for. She struggled to let people past her defenses and loathed exercise, both of which made her relatable. Travis made my heart flutter. He was a modern-day cowboy who cherished and respected women. Ryker was an amazing teen. It was tough to read about his troubles, but my heart broke for him, and I’m excited to learn that he’s going to be featured in an upcoming novella.
I was really happy to not be able to figure out the big baddie. My mind was blown at that reveal!
Melt my heart! That finale was such a delicious treat.

Lynette Eason never fails to hold me captive from page one til the end of the book. What an excellent and unpredictable plot! The suspense is truly her best yet in this series and I really had no clue as to the villain's identity until the end. The author is the queen of strategically planting the details and bringing it all together in one fell swoop at the end. I really liked Heather and Travis but their conversation and romance felt a bit stiff and stilted (but perhaps that was planned that way since they are both awkward in the romance department?). I totally sympathized with Heather's tough and painful background as well as Travis' innate need to protect and care for her. The faith thread and lessons on forgiveness and letting go of anger and bitterness were seamless and encouraging.
I received the book from the publisher via NetGalley and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are solely my own.
Classic Lynette Eason. Suspenseful. Mysterious. Action packed. Adventurous. Excellent writing. Great character development. Five Stars.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat. For once I was completely surprised by who the bad guy was.
While I was surprised, I wa also a little overwhelmed. This story had a lot of characters and a lot of moving parts and truthfully it was too much.
I did really like Travis and how he worked his way into Heather's trust. But the real star of this book was Ryker and I loved his ending more then the happily ever after for Heather and Travis.
I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. This is my honest review.
So as to not give away details in this intriguing story, I’m going to write this review to more general terms. This is an amazing story full of suspense, mystery, and action. Although the character development is not deep, we learn enough about them to be invested in everything that’s happening in their lives. As with all of Lynette Eason’s fabulous books, this one has twists and turns that keep the reader turning pages as quickly as possible. It’s hard to find a stopping point in the story, so it’s difficult to put it down. If this is the first time for you to read one of this author’s books, you’ll want to read more by her after you’ve finished this one. Highly recommend this one. It’s always a pleasure to read a clean well-written, suspenseful story with no foul language.

Thank you for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I loved the first two books in the series and had great expectations when I started this one. It did not disappoint! As promised in the synopsis, this was a fast-paced, suspense-filled story. You are taken on a crazy ride with Heather. At times, I wished the character building had been a bit more detailed but that didn't make the book any less interesting and enjoyable!
If you are not familiar with this author you are missing out on action, danger and inspiration. In this story she delivers characters that you care for and want to be there to help them.
Heather is someone who is fierce, determined and always aware of her surroundings. Coming home after a tour overseas she still thinks about the young boy who could have killed her. I held my breath as that boy stood there with a bomb strapped to him. His bravery is not lost on Heather.
Have you ever had a feeling that someone is watching you? Heather senses something is not quite right but withholds telling her friends. I think she thought she was protecting them but really she was placing them in danger.
Travis is a good character who tries to help Heather but at times she pushes him away. When danger gets too close Travis knows he needs to find a safe place for Heather. I couldn’t wait to find out who was behind the staking. It is an action packed run for your life thriller. It kept me on the edge of my seat as I couldn’t read fast enough. Get ready for an adventure that rivals the best at suspense.
I received a copy of this book from the Librarything Early Reviewer Program. The review is my own opinion.
I've read several books by this author and have always enjoyed everything I've read, so I was looking forward to reading this book. I must say it didn't disappoint. This book was easy to read and fast paced and kept me wanting to read more. I highly recommend this book.
Another suspense-filled ride from Eason! This wasn't one of my favorites, but overall I enjoyed the wild ride! I really liked Travis's character, and he and Heather had great chemistry together! The suspense kept me on my toes and I had no guesses as to Heather's stalker. As always, Eason throws in plenty of plot twists to delightfully confuse you even more!
I think this is my favorite in the series. Someone is after Heather Fontaine and Travis Walker will do everything is his power to protect her and find the enemy. Full of action, plot twists, suspense, and a touch of romance. I enjoyed all of the characters including the side characters such as Ryker. A great story. Definitely falls into the category of "couldn't put it down."
I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.
Heather Fontaine was a field surgeon in Afghanistan so she is used to being in dangerous situations. But when her house is broken into and her friends are threatened, Heather feels the only way to keep the danger away is to run. But she is followed not only by friend Travis Walker and the person she ran from. Heather and Travis work together to find out what kind of danger is lurking in Heather's life.
The was an excellent suspenseful book! I really enjoyed the twists and turns the story brought. Lynette Eason does an awesome job keep the reader hooked.
Another great mystery by Lynette Eason! I have enjoyed this series tremendously. The mystery's pace is perfection and I enjoyed trying to figure out what was going on with the main characters.
Active Defense is one of those novels that is a high level of excitement from the first page to the very last.
What a ride! This is another amazing story from Lynette Eason.
I'm always excited to read suspense novels from some of the best, and Lynette's books are way up there on my list of must read mysteries.
This book is full of danger, action, and mystery, and I'm pretty sure it's my favorite of all the books in this series.
Heather is such a great character. Because of things in her childhood days, she's pretty much decided the only person she can trust, about anything important, is herself. Yes, Heather is a person that must be in control. When she figures out she has a stalker, well, it definitely isn't pretty. It leaves Heather feeling very much out of control.
I enjoyed getting to know Heather as a person, and seeing the growth in her life as she faced some of her very difficult things head on, and then became a better person for it. Ms. Eason has portrayed this enigmatic main character as a lady with strength, and character, and one that was well worth the read.
The prologue begins with Heather over in Aghanistan, working as a surgeon at a field hospital, when she sees a young suicide bomber coming her way. He seems to want her help, but then his bomb explodes and he is severely injured, and eventually dies.
The main story follows this, and is after Heather has returned stateside. She's trying desperately to figure out why someone is after her, and keep that person from hurting her friends.
Travis, a friend of Heather's, is determined to help her by catching her stalker. She told him she doesn't need help, but he knows Heather well enough to think that the very fact she even told him about the stalker is her silent plea for help.
I enjoyed watching Travis and Heather get to know each other. This romance is sweet and a beautifully written part of the story.
Lynette Eason once again has written a suspense filled tale, that left me grasping at straws, and guessing at all her clues, until the very end.
