This book missed the mark for me. I felt like the beginning was way too graphic and lead to a somewhat depressing story line. I don’t love how this series has felt heavy and dealt with a lot of PTSD issues and trauma. I did not love the heroine and I found the ending left me wanting. The villain was an odd choice. I just didn’t see the proper motivation for what was going on.
I have started to just assume I'm going to be indisposed for a while because I can never put them down. This book was no exception. I was hooked from the beginning and man I was not ready for this story to be over.
Everything about this book was incredible. I loved the characters, the storyline, and how well the romance, suspense, and faith aspects blended together.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone!
I have been an avid reader of Lynette Eason’s romantic suspense for years. Her later releases have seemed a bit repetitive to me and I haven’t enjoyed them as much as previously. However, Active Defense picked up considerably in the second half of the book and I was surprised by the ending!
ACTIVE..DEFENSE. #3.....Lynette Eason
A day of relaxing for the three woman, now back at camp Heather a.nurse wanted to check on her patients first, Noticing a young boy with a T shirt too. big heading toward the recovery tent, then the bomb strapped to his chest as the bomb went off. That to deal with and the stalker she had picked up, her head was a mess now.
They are back home and a gathering of a hot tub and friends. Travis felt like a fish out of water when around Heather and would like to date her. Seeing the sadness and how jumpy she is, didn’t help him to even talk to her.
When they heard what was the problem, he wanted to protect her. With friends they.had just started up a security business.
Emotion that come when someone you know wants to kill you, the revenge and hate that changed a person you once loved
.A plot that shows the effect of losing to much, the tension, the conditions how they can change a person.
Given ARC.by Net Galley and.Revell for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
Active Defense is a well written romantic suspense. A good edge of your seat plot. Ms. Eason has delivered another fantastic book. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.
Heather is a nurse who was in the middle east, Travis was a solder but now him and some of his friends have set up a security business . someone is after her and he is going to protect her. but can they figure out who and why someone is after her and how they are one step ahead. Heather is trying to let her friends in but after being in the system she is afraid to do it. if you like suspense , children, animals , and falling in love you will want to read the book, i could not put it down , it is well written. if you have read any of her other books you will like this one i was given a copy of the book by netgalley but this is an honest review
I absolutely loved this book. It has a lot of action with romance. I think. It has a lot of emotion in it that explains Heathers story so well and tells a lot about her character. I think my favorite character was Ryker . What an outstanding kid . This is a must read .
I love books by Lynnette. She draws you into the story and captures your attention as she weaves the events together. It was an important reminder of family and friends in our lives and how they help us along the way. There is also the poignant expression that we form behavior patterns in childhood and these are really hard to break.
"Active Defense" is a Christian romantic suspense. This book is the third in a series, but it works as a standalone. Heather grew up in an abusive home and then in foster care, so she's learned to depend on herself and has trouble asking others for help. But she's worried about a seemingly harmless stalker and tells her friends about it. Then someone starts trying to kill or at least kidnap her, and she learns how to accept the help of friends...partly because they're determined to help her. Both Heather and Travis were competent and did a good job of thwarting the bad guys, but Heather had trouble figuring out who hired them. Though it wasn't obvious, I did guess it early on, but there's a good reason why Heather didn't suspect that person.
The main characters were brave, caring people who reacted realistically to events. Heather and Travis built each other (and others) up, helped each other grow and heal, and made a good team. The Christians were motivated by their belief in the value of human life. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting story.
I love myself a good Lynette Eason book anytime, and her new story, Active Defense hits the spot. She always has the best characters and the best plot lines. I enjoyed every aspect of this book; the suspense, the danger, the camaraderie with friends, and the resolution.
Active Defense has a strong message of reaching out for help and not having to rely on yourself for everything. The main character, Heather, was in and out of foster care. She learned early on to not rely on anyone but herself or be disappointed. This makes it very difficult for her to accept protection from close friends when someone is stalking her.
Someone is threatening Heather and they won't stop until they get what they want. I didn't see who the bad guy was until the very end; another trademark Eason move. It's exciting!
Active Defense is fast flipping story told from Heather's perspective. Lynette Eason does a wonderful job at bringing these active soldiers to life as they bring home their trouble from the tours in Afghanistan. I enjoy a novel that features a run for their lives and a hunt for justice and a serial killer. Eason does a fabulous job at crafting a story that captures my attention and does not let go. Active Defense is the third book in this series, and Eason will not let her readers down. She does exactly what is expected. Sometimes I even found the story a little repetive and predictable. Overall, Eason did a wonderful job at crafting a story that features the thrills and the characters that fans of romantic suspense will enjoy.
I received a complimentary copy of Active Defense by Lynette Eason, but the opinions stated are all my own.
Say hello to Dr Heather Fontaine and book three of the Danger Never Sleeps series. It's amazing and will keep you riveted.
I really enjoyed Heather's character because of the medical areas that come with it but even if you're not into that you're going to love this book.
Heather is being targetted. Someone is stalking her. She can see him but he never seems to try to reach out to her. She feels like she's going crazy but she doesn't know what's really going on.
The problem with Heather is she has this great circle of friends but she doesn't trust them. She learned early on in the foster care system that you don't trust anyone so you don't get hurt. But when she lets them know about this potential stalker things seem to escalate.
Heather comes home from a get together with friends to knowing someone is in her house. A picture on her fridge has red dots on her friend's faces. She's got to get out and get away before she puts those she loves in danger.
But why is Heather being targetted? It all keeps going back to her trying to save the life of a suicide bomber when she was overseas. Can she figure out who is trying to kill her and why? But really can she just survive for another day?
This is a very quick-moving book and I found that I had to have the next book as soon as I finished this one. They are that good and that well written. I loved this book! I highly recommend that you read this entire series and I'm anxiously awaiting book number four now because that read that amazing.
The characters carry through in this series so I do feel they should be read in order. Get the whole series and then join me in waiting for the latest release!
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I just finished this book in two days, it was that good! Very suspenseful, great characters, intriguing plot—this story had it all. I was crying at the end too, always a good sign that I was really drawn into the story. Highly recommended.
This book was a miss for me sadly. The plot was a little all over the map, things just seemed to be confusing or out of left field and I was left going “What the...?” quite a lot. There was also a lot of info dumping at the beginning and I didn’t feel like we really got to know the characters personalities much at all. And honestly the way things resolved and were revealed just didn’t seem plausible to me. Overall this book just wasn’t for me but if you’ve been enjoying this series you may want to check it out if it sounds interesting to you.
Active Defense is such a good book that you won't want to stop reading. Make sure you have plenty of time because you will not want to be disturbed.
Like the other Lynette Eason books in this series we are drawn in when Heather returns home and the problems over in Afghanistan follow her. There is definitely someone who wants something she has of knows and she needs to figure it out fast.
Enter Timothy...the hero who has been watching her for a long time. Between the two of them the mysteries are being unfolded but can they solve them all before they are hurt or before one of them dies. Can they ever just live Happily Ever After with no regrets.
This is book three in the saga and I can't wait for book 4. This along with books 1 and 2 are must reads for anyone who likes to be scared, worried, drawn in and involved totally in the story that you are reading.
Lots of unexpected twists and turns makes this action filled story hard to put down. Suspenseful to the end! I love that the person behind the murder plot is not so readily visible. The characters are realistic and caring. I loved the way Heather related with Ryker and tried to mentor him. I liked that the author showed the struggles veterans have after an overseas tour. Very enjoyable story. Anxious to read the next in the series.
Active Defense was written by Lynette Eason, and is book three in the Danger Never Sleeps series. You could read this book without reading the first two, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Summary: Heather Fontaine has returned from a military tour in Afghanistan and has the emotional scars to prove it.
But her nightmares aren’t only limited to the nights-because someone is stalking her.
Can she find out who it is before things escalate? Or is being home even more dangerous than being at war?
My Thoughts: This was a fun read. There is tons of action, a good mystery, likeable characters, and a nice romance. I really enjoyed it, and it is my favorite so far in the series.
If you enjoy suspenseful action and/or military novels with a little romance, this would be a great one to pick up!
I would like to thank Revell for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review. Thank you!
Love this series. This is wonderful mix of suspense, action and romance. Heather is Army field sergeant comes home after shocking event. Travis owns security business. Together they find love and who is stalking Heather. Would recommend this series. Love covers each of covers for these books. They give great connection to the characters.
This is the third book in this series. I have really enjoyed each book. This book has a lot of unexpected twists and turns and it grabbed me from page one. I do enjoy a good stalker book. Highly recommended
Heather has come back from a harrowing experience in the desert. As a doctor she has seen many things. Now she is back home and thinks that she has picked up a stalker. Having grown up in the foster care system Heather has always relied on herself to get through tough situations. Now she is having to rely on friends to keep her safe.
Travis is one of the friends that is trying to keep Heather safe. But now her stalker seems to have escalated and it has become even more difficult keeping Heather safe.
Well this one was exciting! And also had some pretty interesting twists as to the who-done-it! I always enjoy reading Lynette Eason's stories and this series is proving why she is one of my favorite authors to read. ACTIVE DEFENSE kept me turning the pages, kept me interested, had me stress-biting my nails in some parts and raising my eyebrows in others! I loved Heather and Travis as a couple. Heather was a strong female character, but also knew when she needed to accept help from friends. An exciting addition to the series that I highly recommend!
