#MeToo and You was the perfect conversation starter with our pre-teen. It is a great introduction to consent and healthy boundaries in relationships. I appreciated that author Halley Bondy shares the essential terminology necessary in these important conversations as well as "real-life" scenarios that are relatable and easy to discuss.
This book is accessible and relevant and it is never too early to start having these discussions. As a parent who always appreciates having research and tools to back up important (but sometimes complicated) dialogue, I especially appreciate that #MeToo and You is especially geared for middle-grade tweens readers. Highly recommend!
Thank you to Zest Books for a gifted copy in exchange for my honest review. As always, all opinions are my own.
A must-read for middle school kids that offers information on consent, healthy relationships, and being an ally.
Very important and timely topic. Very readable book that is broken up into different topical chapters. It gives examples of situations that folks may recognize as well as truly thoughtful advice on the different situations. It’s definitely one that I want to have for teens.
There should be a copy of this book everywhere. This books should be made available at doctors, psychiatrists, schools, university, bars - this book should be viral. It's so unbelievably important and even though I luckily haven't been in a #Metoo position, my heart aches for everyone who has. An acquaintance of mine for example had been raped a year before. I fear this book wouldn't have helped her, though, because she was defending herself and it didn't help much. But still, she is fighting and I am very glad for that.
I am exceptionally grateful to have been receiving this copy, I really am. It helped me a lot and I hope it will help a lot of other people as well.
