I really liked some of the smart quotes from both those I'd heard of such at Steve Jobs and James Baldwin and those I hadn't such as Erwin W. Lutzer and Pearl S. Buck, but the constant bible quotes were too much. Setting an expectation of bible quotes in the description would have helped, absent of that I was left overwhelmed by their constant presence.
For completeness, here's a sampling of some of the items I did like.
"Better to have taken some risks and lost than to have done nothing and succeeded at it." Erwin W. Lutzer
"one man with conviction will overwhelm 100 who only have opinions" Winston Churchill
"It isn't a calamity to die with dreams unfulfilled, but it is a calamity not to dream….Not failure, but low aim is a sin." Benjamin E. Mays
"You cannot make yourself feel something you do not feel, but you can make yourself do right in spite of your feelings" Pearl. S. Buck
Most of the problems in life are because of two problems:
1) We act without thinking
2) We keep thinking without acting
Note: I've downloaded a bunch of free, (mostly) random, pre-releases of books with the idea of expanding my range and helping authors get reviews. #netgalley
Really enjoyed this book and helped me to develop leadership skills that I lacked in. Also gave me another perspective to view from. Highly recommend this book.
Divided into the following sections:
Qualities Every Leader Needs
Dealing with Leadership Challenges
The Life Cycle of Every Organization
Tools for Every Leader
Each chapter begins with a quote from a leader and concludes with a prayer and another quote about leadership success. The Sharpening Your Focus chapter includes space to write your goals: spiritual, with spouse, with children, educational, vocational, financial, service, community, personal, miscellaneous.
The What is a Leader chapter includes surveys about potential, attitude, values, and the Pareto Principle.
The clip art images should have been omitted as they don't add value and detract from the topic.
This book is fantastic. It is almost in devotional form, but meant for business/leadership. It has specific references to scripture as well as quotes from other thought leaders in religion and business. This is a great book and would also make a perfect gift. Loved it.
This is a good book about leadership with valuable insights for those who want to develop great leadership qualities.
As a school leader I found this book really helpful. You can dip in and out of it as you please and it’s full of great tips.
