I’m not sure what I expected for this book. And it’s sat on my shelf for far too long. Ultimately it was a nice peek into the grandparenting life that I wish I had read when I first found out I was going to be a grandparent.
As an only child, with an only child, grandchildren (unless they have fur, four paws. and a tail) don't even make my list of desirable life events. However, I love true stories of large families, and What Happens at Grandma's Stays at Grandma's fits the bill.
Lori Borgman swore that she would never be one of those grandmothers - you know the ones with an ever expanding photo sleeve. The birth of her first grandchild changed all that. Suddenly, she was traveling to babysit, and later catering to a houseful.
I really enjoyed this book. I would highly recommend it to fans of Erma Bombeck , (showing my age), and to anyone who enjoys family life essays.
In the interest of full disclosure, I received a free digital copy of this book to review from Net Galley.

What happens at Grandmas stays at Grandmas by is an absolute delight to read.
The author is a grandma with 11 grand children whom she calls as grands. With a hilarious note, the grandma explains the activities of her grandchildren. A few activities included an artificial pool that became muddy at the end of the day, grandchildren giving her a health checkup, going to a restaurant and spilling milkshake and children pretending their home was a hotel when grandparents came.
I liked the story where the grandmas mom had a chain with little figurines of the grandchildren. If a grand was too naughty he/she was removed from the chain. If the grands did something naughty they checked if they are still on the chain.
I also loved grandma’s wisdom about life in general, after grandkids and the jokes about her husband. After reading the book I wish I had grandchildren (plural, god save me).
Thank you to @netgalley and @harvesthousepublishers for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
What a cute book! It made me want to get a copy for my own grandparents, as I'm sure they'd find the anecdotes here delightful.
I am a grandparent of two boys (3 mos and 20 mos). I loved the stories that the author shares. Her memories of watching her children having children, is how I felt watching them become parents. It’s a good book about being a grandparent. Thank you to NetGalley and Harvest House for the E-ARC. This is my own opinion.
This is not a Christian book. However, it isn't unChristian. It is a good book, well written, funny, and well organized. It's just not a Christian book, as advertised. It won't help you in your faith. It's a wholesome book. Each chapter can stand on its own.
