I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review. This book is well written and the characters are described well. This is a super cosy mystery book. It will keep you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out who did it. I enjoyed Ellie Alexander’s writing style. This is the 12th book in this series. I would recommend reading the first book to get to know the characters better but overall this book is great. I would recommend reading this book to anyone and everyone. This book is in stores for $8.99 (USD).

This was a fun addition to the series with Jules and the torte Bakeshop team about to open an outdoor summer pop up selling grab-and-go pastries, sandwiches, and "concretes" (custard ice cream). When a homeless man who is a fixture in the Ashland community, is murdered, of course Jules and her friend Lance are on the case. Made me want to go on an immediate ice cream binge!

There's not much that I can say about this series that hasn't already been said... its fabulous!

Every time I return Torte, I return to friends. The setting and cast of characters along with a fantastic story is like coming home. These stories are surrounded with friends, family, and love but don't forget MURDER!

Loved the book and the concept. It’s the 12th book in her mystery series. A character known for his cone shaped hat in the town, is found dead one day. No one knows reason and every character in the books will come across as the suspect in the murder case.

The story is very intriguing and will keep you hooked till the end. I loved the characters as well as the setting of the plot.

Definitely recommended

There is a little bit of an intro and catch up period to start us off but bring able to jump into the series at book 12 and not missing a beat is pretty impressive! I love books that can be read as a stand alone so I can get a feel for the series.

This was a sweet story with a curious case to be solved. I really enjoyed the characters and the romantic interest of our main character. I also thought all of the food sounded so delicious and I loved all of the punny jokes.

Where does one even begin when talking about their favorite author and cozy mystery series? Honestly, Ellie Alexander can do no wrong, especially when it comes to her character development, suspenseful anticipation, and yummy treat ideas to boot!

In this 12th installment of A Bakeshop Mystery series, Juliet Capshaw and the Torte team are once again on the prowl to uncover a murder. Yes, I did say 12th installment - and I will read 100 more as long as Ellie continues to grace us with her Torte team and sleuthing masters Juliet & Lance.

Oh, and if you've ever dreamt about visiting the Pacific Northwest - the picture painted in Chilled to the Cone, let alone this entire series deserves a chef kiss!

Bravo, Ellie & Chilled to the Cone, BRAVO!

Jules has a lot on her plate as she decides to try a mini franchise of Torte that will specialize in iced drinks and concretes. With the help of her excellent staff, the space comes together, but strange happenings abound. From the peculiar “wizard” who rides a bike with a cape on, her landlord an angry yoga instructor which seems a bit ironic, the organic milk delivery guy who seems very shady to her friend who owns a food truck and convinced to to try Tortes expansion. Soon Jules discovers the wizard dead. She investigates and a fire is set. Is she getting too close, what was it intended to destroy? On top of all of that, her husband, Carlos has to decide whether or not to stay in Ashland and Jules fears he won’t. Great read, one of the best in the series.

In Chilled to the Cone, Andy, Sterling and the rest of the Torte team convince Jules to open a seasonal Torte location in another part of Ashland. The Railroad District area isn't far from Torte itself, but the people the small location will serve are different. The team comes up with the name Scoops and plans to serve ice cream concrete, cold coffee, pre-made sandwiches, and cold pasta salad. Jules and her mom, Helen, even allow Andy and Sterling to take the lead on the new location, including designing and running it. But before they even get ready to open, they face challenges and obstacles. A beloved member of the community is found dead near the new location. Could his death have been a result of mistaken identity? Was he killed for something he knew? Or was it a crime of passion? One thing is for sure, Jules plans to find out.

Unfortunately, I think too much has happened in the previous books to say that Chilled to the Cone is a standalone read. I think readers of this series will be happy with the direction Ellie is taking it. I’m a romance girl at heart, and my little heart was beyond happy with all the romance this story provided. On the mystery front, I loved all the misdirects and red herrings Ellie included. She had me guessing right up until the big reveal. Ellie Alexander is a wonderful author, and her Bakeshop Mystery series is one of my favorite series. The characters are all people I wish were real, that I know and can visit with. I’m looking forward to more books in this series.

Chilled to the Cone was a really fun read! The first thing that captured my attention were the amazingly delicious depictions of baked goods and sweet treats! Yum! Be prepared to have a snack on hand while reading! I loved the characters and the way the mystery unfolds itself! If you love mystery books with great character dynamics, you need to check this series out! It definitely reads as a stand-alone, but I would for sure pick up the rest of the books in this collection!

Chilled To The Cone by Ellie Alexander

I enjoyed this book very much. It was full of suspense and many twists and turns. I couldn’t put it down. Characters were many. I thought the author talked too much in detail about the baking. I recommend this book.

Thanks to Net Galley for sending me an advanced reader’s copy for my review.

Jules has the chance to open up a mini Torte called Scoops. The idea seems great until she learns her new neighbors do not get along with the homeless men in the area. This feud ends when one well loved homeless man is murdered. The further I get into the series the less I like it. This book was not focused on the murder. It was more driven by romance. At times I wanted to smack my own head at Jules' actions. I miss the Jules/Lance mystery solving team. It feels a bit like no one in the town can do anything without talking to Jules first which takes away from the storyline.

I always love a chance to visit Torte in Ashland, Oregon. Jules is opening another Torte location that will sell ice cream. After a homeless man is murdered and her ice cream shop is torched Jules needs to investigate. This book is full of intriguing characters and a great storyline. As always I enjoy the family vibes with the athlete gang as much as the mystery. I'm looking forward to book 13.

Chilled to the Cone is the twelfth book in A Bakeshop Mystery series by Ellie Alexander. This was the first book I've read in the series and was easily able to read it as a standalone book.

This book is filled with great characters! There was so much depth to the story, including major relationship workings, in addition to all the inner workings in the community. The mystery was great and very intriguing! Overall, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the previous (& future) books in the series!

I'm so grateful to Ellie Alexander, St. Martin's Press, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.

This was my first cozy mystery and it was a treat!
First of all this book made me incredibly hungry. Do not read it on an empty stomach or you will be craving so many delicious treats. I’m still thinking of those lemon tarts. Also, someone please make me a two layer coffee cake with mocha buttercream. See what I mean? I’m so easily distracted by the food in this!
.
Jules gets the opportunity of a lifetime when she opens a pop up ice cream shop but her excitement is thawed when a street performer known as the Wizard is found dead.
.
What follows is a cozy mystery with delicious food and drink and love mixed in. For my first introduction to a cozy mystery this was a perfect choice!

Thank you to #NetGalley and #StMartinsPress for an arc in exchange for an honest review

Princess Fuzzypants here: Things are progressing beautifully at Torte for Juliet. Not only is her business booming but her estranged husband Carlos is in town to see if they cannot make another go of their marriage. She is hesitant about taking on another challenge with a satellite ice cream shop in another part of town. She gets an offer too good to pass and the support of her team, and she decides to take the plunge.

When a homeless man is murdered near her new location she has reason to question her decision. Then a fire at her new shop has her questioning her sanity. When she learns the identity of the homeless man she is even more determined to find out who killed him and why. It seems much of the town was fond of him but a couple of merchants seemed to loathe him. Were one of these people, including her own landlord, responsible. Or is there more under the surface going on.

Adding to her anxiety is her concern that Carlos is intending to leave. She wants him to stay but not if he is not going to be happy in the small town. All her questions are answered in the end. As the story evolves, the reader cannot help but get caught up in the various relationships. The characters are intelligent and interesting and Juliet’s crime solving is not confrontational with the local police. In fact, one might say, they work closely in tandem. It makes for a different dynamic.

Four purrs and two paws up.

This is book 12 in the Bakeshop series and Jules has Torte Bakery even more successful. They are going to open a 2nd location and sell ice cream and cold drinks for the summer. When a local homeless man is killed outside their door Jules and her crew investigate. Can be read as a stand-alone but previous books give you background. Romance takes a front seat. I received a copy of this arc in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I enjoyed having the opportunity to read this book. I am now a fan and will read the rest of the series. I loved the story taking place in Oregon and felt as though I was there. It was evident the author knows the area.
