This is a great resource book and also reference book, it's so sad the amount of pain these children must go through every day, but thankfully there are authors who are willing to show the world what's really going on.

This was an incredibly inspirational story about a man who does what is needed to create change for the youth in his community. He details what inspired him to open up residential foster homes, the challenges he faced juggling his family, his work and the various residential units. What I found most interesting is the large request for foster homes. It breaks my heart that so many kids are misplaced and end up in jail or homeless. Perhaps the government child services should follow the authors example and provide for these children with dignity and grace.
Unity Care is a company developed by Andre Chapman after giving up his work in Silicon Valley, it helps people in foster care and helping families which also continues to help after they have left foster care.
A brilliant idea which seems to be doing well but I wonder how it would go in poorer areas as this was in a very rich area.and involves a lot of religious concepts.

Unity Care sounds like an amazing organization. The idea that focus on families should be given to issues before they become problems is an excellent way to help society. It is too bad that this isn't the reality for more communities.
A story of Unity Cares a non profit organization in California which serves foster children and youth transitioning to adulthood. This is the story of its beginning and growing pains for over 25 years. The author left his high paying employment in high tech to open his home to foster children ( he used his own home) as the first placement for 5 boys). His philosophies about marginalized children and families are very interesting and relevant to today’s Black Lives Matter movement. It was an riveting book which would be of interest to anyone in the foster care system or who is dealing with marginalized individuals of poverty.
