Sawyer was such a heartthrob and this book made me immediately go read every other book in the series.
This was okay. It wasn't the best romance I have read. It was a decent rom-com that I liked. I wish somethings in the story were done differently.
More Than We Bargained For
Timber Falls, Book 4 by Fiona West
A sweet quick read about single mum at Christmas with no place to go and the towns quiet man comes to the rescue with a lodge for her and her family to go to as he has his own issues that he needs a little assistance with from his new neighbour. By giving him a lift into town when needed. They are both having a struggle with life between one with an ex who’s the talk of the town and another who’s having difficult health problems for a young man.
A good read with views form both of the main character. A quick and easy read.
I love a good contemporary romance story, especially one that involves a librarian.
Starla is a pretty, small town librarian going through a divorce with kids. Sawyer is a cute guy who likes donating books to make Starla smile, but has increasingly evident medical issues. Starla is having financial trouble and needs a place to stay, Swayer's struggling health issues are making driving impossible. The two seem to have the answers to each other's problems. But small towns are small. And people love to talk.
This relationship could be just what the two of them need to finally find their footing, but it also might be the thing that drives them away from their homes and everything they hold dear.
This is a contemporary romance that focuses on people in a time in their lives that romance doesn't usually focus on. It deals with real problems and real people and you can't help but connect to the characters as they face their struggles, piece together what remains of their lives, and fall in love.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for my chance to read this ARC. I highly recommend. Its a wonderful read.
This has been on my TBR for several years now, and I can’t seem to make myself finish it. I’m sorry! I’m sure someone will love it, but it just isn’t for me.
A nice rom com with a different view on the classic couple. I appreciate the take the author decided to take on this one, the illness, the journey through it. It wasn't a book i will never forget about or some kind of masterpiece, but for its genre it did the thing for me. A cute reading.
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. The story was okay. It seemed a little bit Farfetched? But if you like light hearted romance you might like this book.
I have always loved a small-town romance, and this one did not disappoint. The only issue I had with the book was that it did have a slow build to the story and the character development was at times, hard to understand, when it came to the lead characters. That said, it is still definitely worth a read. Great story, quality characters, and a nice romance for ending a hard day.
Favorite quotes:
“You belong with us,” she repeated more firmly. “On good days. On crap days. All the days.”

The start made me frown but i tried to ignore it and go in with an open mind, but the story was boring, dry and awkward.
More Than We Bargained For, is a perfect small town romance. Starla is a soon to be divorced, star wars loving, librarian. She and her kids are living with a friend after she (and their 11 year old son) caught her husband cheating on her. She hasn't been happy in her marriage for years - but changing her life isn't easy. She doesn't have much money and the town isn't being supportive of her. She needs a fresh start. Charlie is not the perfect man for her, which is realized once Starla is gone for good. Seeing this played out on the pages is wonderful and refreshing. It's not often a romance goes past the fluffy good stuff and gives great character depth on both sides of the relationship, and I absolutely loved this. I think the romance aspect was very subtle, maybe a little too subtle, but with such lovely leads, that's ok. I really enjoyed reading about how their relationship developed and the supporting characters enriched the story. Thanks to NetGalley for the early read!
Love that this is a sightly non-traditional setup where the heroine is still in the middle of her divorce. The story was fun to get into and i loved the setting and town. The story leaves the reader with an up beat positive vibe.
Tried reading this one and it just was not meant for me. This does not mean that it is not a good book, I just was not in the right place to be reading it and have decided to not try picking it up anytime in the near future.
I received this book complimentary from NetGalley but all opinions are my own.
This was cute. The storyline was fairly slow though. I really liked the characters from the beginning but it took a long time to get going. I also was probably waiting for some spice, of which there was not even a hint. Starla and Sawyer were interesting characters and I really liked them both. The kids were good too, though they seemed a little side-story that wasn’t fully fleshed out. I would’ve wanted more to show that Starla is a great mom other than other characters saying so.
This book was adorable, it was a slow burn romance with no love scenes at all, this is the fourth book in the series and well written, I wanted to keep reading it because it was just so adorable. I think Fiona did a well good job writing this whole series. Its always nice to read a good that is light on the sexual tendencies
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to review this book. I DNFed this story about halfway through. I couldn’t get into the story.
This is the first book by Fiona West I read and just as the cover, it was extremly cute with a fair share of real worldness thrown in.
A story about two people going through rough pastches and united by their love of books, what more could you ask for?
The characters are really cute and the way they come together was everything. the thing that i like the most is the way they are real people with real problems that still have a happily ever after even if the pad ain't all happy smiles and pretty roses.
This was a new author for me. I will say that I enjoyed this book. This one brings us Starla, a single recently divorced single mother. She has just gotten a new job as a librarian (my dream job) and she's struggling a bit to fit her footing. We also meet Sawyer who lives as a recluse because of his chronic illness.
Having not read any of the other books I didn't have a hard time keeping up although I did feel like I could have gotten more from this one if had read them. Although it is a standalone. All in all this was the perfect read for a lazy, rainy day.
Ahh... This book...
I have really enjoyed Fiona West' writing style in this series. She takes interesting (and unique) circumstances and turns them in to real life romances; filled with all the nitty gritty things most romances leave out (I mean HELLO, no romance is actually PERFECT).
In More Than We Bargained For, Fiona West captures the attitudes of two people learning to accept themselves and grow stronger from their pasts, rather than letting their pasts rule them. They characters' have been developing over the last few stories and I loved getting to know them bit by bit over time.
Not to ruin it for everyone, but this story was so sweet, and I loved some of the bittersweet moments that Fiona West wove into the storyline for these two!
Overall, I definitely recommend reading this story (The whole series really) and I am so looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Readers of unordinary romance will Love this book.
*I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.
Starla Moore plans to start afresh with her two kids, after her divorce with Charlie, though in a small town, it seems impossible as everyone knows about everyone's business.
She is a librarian by profession, a bookworm by nature, a dedicated Star- Wars fan, who thinks coffee and baked goods solve most problems (Enough reasons for Starla to be my favorite since the beginning)
Sawyer used to be a surgeon, but his chronic illness has made him take recluse in the woods, and repair bikes, he goes to the library every thursday like clockwork, picks up a mystery book and returns it next week.
Although Sawyer's illness makes him think he never wants to become a burden on anyone, and Starla is constantly struggling with her ex-husband, her kids and something else she didn't plan for.
They have been crushing on each other since the start, sparks really start to fly when Starla takes up Sawyer's offer to rent his house in the woods.
The OTP is just so cute together and also as individuals, I mean the guy sent boxes of new books to his crush every week. This can't get any better!
This is the fourth installment in the Timber Fall Series by the author, but it can be read as a stand alone. I had no difficulty in understanding the story, or being acquainted with the characters.
Was not able to read before the publish date, my library has purchased several copies of this book and it seems to be doing well.
