Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Sophie Ranald for gifting me an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
Zoe’s romantic life is in a serious rut and she’s this close to becoming a crazy cat lady. She takes her friend’s advice and creates a dating profile on a site that matches people by their zodiac signs. What could possibly go wrong?
This was a fun Women’s Lit with a hefty dose of romcom and I could totally see this being a Netflix movie! I loved Zoe and her friends, they reminded me so much of my own friend group! THis was a quick book that was easily to get into and had me giggling throughout! I will admit I was expecting this to be more of a romance that a women’s lit and I think that kept this from getting a higher rating from me. I’m a mood reader so misjudging the vibe of a book can sometimes screw my opinion so take this with a grain of salt!

Sweet and simultaneously light-hearted and intelligent romance!

This was so heartwarming and enjoyable! This book is not just a romance, but it's also packed with important lessons for everyone dating, especially womxn..

Zoe is a 27-year-old chef living with her cat Frazzle in a small London apartment right above her workplace called The Ginger Cat. She's only been there for six months, having spent her twenties traveling and working temporary jobs. But now Zoe really wants to find someone - as she just managed to finally get over a short-lived yet heart-shattering relationship. So, with the help of her gay sous chef Robbie (who advocates for new hookups as often as possible), she goes on Tinder looking for dates with specific star signs, from the least to most compatible for an Aquarius.

This book is about Zoe's unfortunate adventures in dating. Another important character is Zoe's gorgeous gym buddy Dani whose dating life is also part of it. Each of their encounters is depicts some shady yet universal problems, such as freeriding, gaslighting, violence, ghosting, lying, sexual problems and more. I often wanted to scream yes! or highlight lessons for future me, as I've also been in some similar situations.

But this heartwarming and sometimes funny novel is also about friendship, self-care, listening to yourself rather than strange men or random apps.

"Pointing out that you haven't been doing your fair share isn't nagging. And having to say it doesn't make me feel particularly romantic, either."

I loved Zoe and her cat as well as her friends. This book isn't a 5 star read for me, however, because the writing style was not that amazing, and I wished there was just something more. Also, Zoe was at times weirdly naïve. - especially at the beginning, although she's grown on me a lot. And FYI, you can't DM dick pics or any pics on Tinder, at least not since like 2014.

“There were no words in the message, just a picture. It was kind of blurry and the lighting wasn’t the best, but I could still more or less make out what it was.
It looked like a penis. Only smaller.“

Zoe is single and ready to mingle. She reluctantly puts herself out there on the dating apps, trying to find her soul mate based on astrological signs, and is in for quite a surprise!

What a cute, laugh out loud funny story about a single woman with a cat and her quest to not die alone as a single woman with a cat. Despite MANY unwanted d**k pics 😖, she does manage to score a few dates. But just as she is losing hope that there is a man out there for her, fate intervenes. Zoe may just get that happily ever after she’s looking for, cat and all. 🐱 If you love a quirky, funny romance...give this one a go!

I am awfully sorry but I DNF-ed this book. I got to 50% and I couldn't any more. There was nothing funny, the story was not moving forward, the dates were absolutely not hilarious and felt too forced. Zoe only reads horoscopes to help her making decisions about her dating life - gah.

In an attempt to turn round her disastrous love life, Zoe decides to start following the advice of an astrology app on her phone and dating men according to their star signs.
This was a light hearted and easy read; I enjoyed the humour in it too.
However, the plot felt a little scattered to me with too many elements, none of which quite felt fully utilised. The “dating by star sign” plot felt like it was a bit half hearted and the development of the character Adam was slow, only picking up towards the end. I just couldn’t fully buy in to the astrology aspect either, it felt too silly.
I think one thing that really distanced the reader, or me anyway, was that too often plot points were told through a description by Zoe to her friend, rather than us actually being there. It’s fine to use this device once or twice and it saves time in the storytelling but I would have preferred to have been there with Zoe as it was happening rather than hearing her account of it later. Perhaps I would have been more invested. The fact that it was used repeatedly made me feel like it was to help cram events in and not make the book overlong, which again goes back to my point about the plot feeling muddled. Perhaps one or two storylines could have been cut.
Overall, an easy, enjoyable read but not a stand out for me.

Thank You, Next had some laugh-out-loud moments that I thoroughly enjoyed. One of my favorite aspect of this book is the narrative. I was able to visualized many scenes and it really felt like I was sitting down for my best friend with a cup of coffee hearing about her dating mishaps and adventures.

If you are looking for a light, fun, and enjoyable quick rom com read, look no further! Go grab a copy from an indie store near you!

Thank You, Next was a really cute story. Zoe's journey throughout the book was funny and the awkward dating experiences felt very real to life. I found myself chuckling because I've been there, too! Unsolicited eggplant pics on a dating app? Yup.

I appreciated how Zoe's story was realistic when it came to dating the wrong person. Sometimes they seem like they're right for you, or the best you can do, but you're not being honest with yourself and what you want/need. The zodiac theme was a nice touch (even though there was a lot of it), especially since I've been getting into reading my horoscope again lately.

All in all, Sophie Renald's book was good fun. I related to Zoe and everything she went through. I'm thankful for NetGalley allowing me the opportunity to read and review this book.

I DNF this book. I wanted to, badly, actually. But I found it so honestly boring that I got to about 40% though and couldn’t get myself to go any further. Perhaps the story just wasn’t for me

Zoe wants to find true love and didn't want to die alone with cats. She tries online dating and believes in horoscopes to find love and she wasn't that successful. However with the help of her friend Robbie, she hopes to find love through Zodiac signs--will she succeed?

To me, it was an OK book though there were some parts in the book that was funny, particularly when Zoe at first finds herself with different types of guys. However, the book was well written though there were at times it was a bit boring. Overall, it was a good romantic book, kind of a laugh out loud comedy book--a bit like a soap opera kind of book--worth three stars!

I first met Zoe in Sophie Ranald's novel Just Saying where she was the heroine's boyfriend's gorgeous ex-girlfriend (the one that got away), so it was a bit of a shock to see her re-imagined here as a short frizzy-haired girl whose hair is more ginger than auburn.

Zoe hasn't been on a date in forever and hasn't had sex in even longer so when her sous-chef Robbie suggests she uses Tinder to find a date she decides to combine it with her horoscope app and date men according to their star-sign. Just so that she doesn't mess it up, she decides to start with the signs that are least compatible with her as an Aquarian. What follows is a series of painful dates (and non-dates) with some truly weird men. Maybe this resonates with women closer to Zoe's age but I didn't find it funny, more cringeworthy, and Zoe's inability to extricate herself from these situations just felt like she was a bit of a doormat.

Then Zoe finds someone who feels like he could be 'the One', they like the same food, the same films, the same causes, the same music. But could it be that having the same taste doesn't necessarily lead to love?

Centred around a South London pub called the Ginger Cat where Zoe works as a chef, this book doesn't shy away from some of the less pleasant aspects of dating.

I liked it but I didn't love it.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This is an author that has been on my TBR for way too long! After reading this one, I totally regret that!

Zoe is torn between the quiet, lonely but peaceful and secure single life and the excitement but also effort and disappointment of dating. Which path should she choose?

The book contained lots of hilarious dating anecdotes which had me chuckling out loud. Zoe tells us that she knows when it’s time to say “Thank you, next” or time to just make a run for it, but she is often too polite, stubborn or hungry to do so.

Zoe was a completely likeable character, with a very girl next door feel to her, and I enjoyed feeling like I was a fly on the wall as I saw how things developed for her.

The ending was absolutely perfect and I liked the fact that it was difficult to predict for the majority of the book where this one would go.

Overall, a light, fun, heart warming read by a new favourite of mine from the chick lit genre.

2.5 stars. So this was the second book of Sophie's that I've read and unfortunately this one didn't really hook me. I had higher hopes from what the blurb provided but soon found myself again feeeling like I was missing something and kept reading in hope that it would turn around. Sorry to say but the title warned me.

2.5/5 stars

When we meet Zoe at the start of the book, she is tired of dating after being on bad date after bad date. We then read through her many dating adventures and the friends she made along the way. In order to pick her dates, she started with the star sign that was said to be the least compatible with her and moved her way through the signs. She was inspired to do this by an astrology app she was using at the time.

Honestly, nothing about this book really grabbed me beside her friendship with Dani—the woman she met at her gym. Their friendship was the highlight of the book to me, as I love supportive female friendships. But I'm just so tired of books where the main female character needs love to be complete. This was the entire focus of the book and really the only thing we really knew about Zoe.

I also was hoping for a bigger twist at the end with the astrology app could have been more exciting or impactful. It just kind of happened. I think that's kind of how I felt with the whole book—I was just looking for more.

Overall, it was a fine book and is an easy read if you're searching for a romance.

This is my sixth book by Sophie Ranald, so you can call me a fan. There is something about her characters that makes me relate to their problems, love life disasters, and their choices.
Chances are that if you read Sophie's previous book Just Saying, you hated Zoe. She was the infamous ex who appeared out of blue in Joe And Alice's life and tried to win Joe back, while Alice was dealing with her unexpected unemployment. Zoe, beautiful, exotic, fun loving, sexy, always ready to listen (to Joe) and empathise, Zoe who couldn't get over the fact that Joe did move on and was now building something new with Alice.
Well, now we get Zoe's story. I don't mean what happened while she was sharing Alice and Joe's flat, but what happened afterwards. Because at some point you do have to let your old love and heartbreak go and start living...
I would have never guessed that I was going to be on Zoe's team. And yet... Zoe's desire to find somebody to share her life, despite her dating disasters, her feeling slightly misplaced because she spent her early twenties travelling, while other people were building their support systems and friend networks, above all, Zoe's courage to put herself out into the world and risk being ridiculed, misunderstood, or even taken advantage of- all of them made me root for her and sigh with satisfaction when she does meet her own Mr Right.
If you like getting the other people's perspective, or enjoy reading about dating disasters, while secretly knowing that the happy-end is guaranteed, or are a fan of British romcoms and think that nobody does them better, this book is for you.

I'm about 10% into this book but I get the feeling that it's not for me. I find the tone dark and the humor non-existent. "Date from hell" stories are not funny to me, just hellish. I may come back to this later and give it another try, but for now, it's a DNF. There's nothing wrong with the book. Humor is subjective, and the author's sense of humor doesn't match mine. I should have realized from the description that it wouldn't work for me. Sorry!

I enjoyed reading this book but it didn’t wow me. It was really funny at the beginning when Zoe went on a date with someone off a dating app. Her goal was to date a guy from each star sign. She assumed her first date was a spy but he turned out to be a jailbird. Another funny moment was when she went on a date with a Pisces and he organised a cringey romantic dinner on the park bandstand. The public watched as the date invited his friend to be their waiter and played the violin to “woo” her. Obviously she turned him down and he then went on to send her abusive messages. I think this portrays the reality of dating apps and how difficult it is to find the right man. Zoe then had another date at a burger bar and the man brought his son along, who embarrassed her by placing a whoopee cushion on the chair. She then ended up getting dragged into a climate change March where her & her friend Dani stood out as they were dressed to go clubbing. This was where Zoe met a fellow vegan called Jude who rushed into a relationship with her and used her for free rent and takeaway meals. In the end she ended up getting with Adam the dungeon master. However it was obvious this was going to happen as soon as he was introduced. Overall this book had funny moments, however towards the end it became boring.

This book is an absolutely brilliant laugh out loud romantic comedy, Zoe’s dating stories are enough to put anyone off tinder for life! I absolutely loved it and can’t wait to read her others 😍 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A fun light hearted reading about online dating where Zoe goes on dates with men with all the different zodiac signs. Reading this book made me glad I was married! This was such a cute book! Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Zoe, a chef in a local pub, is on her late 20s when she realizes that she is finally over her ex boyfriend, who’s girlfriend, Alice, is Zoe’s boss. At the same time she realizes that she is going to die alone, without a partner that is, having as her only company her ginger cat. So Zoe decides to takes matters into her own hands, as per her sous chef’s advice, and lands herself on Tinder. And as if that was not enough, she throws in another app, one related to zodiac signs and plans her Tinder dates based on their zodiac signs, trying to find the perfect match, starting from the one sign that seems to be the least compatible with hers, making her way up until she find Mr. Perfect.

Online dating can be a bit of a struggle. Dating as such surely is! But the kind of anonymity and freedom internet provides you with can be a real thing. So Zoe ends up with tons of photos of a particular part of men’s anatomy, while she tries to find actual men she would possibly date. Strange as it seems, she goes on various dates with people she would never do at any other chance. Sure, she get’s to see their picture alright, but photos are not enough to give you the image of that person. So she ends up having a date with a man that has prepared a romantic dinner on a hill, one that should be saved for wedding proposals I’d say, and who pretty much forced her vegetarian self to eat oysters and listen to his flat mate playing the violin while a number of spectators were filming them! And that was not even the worse of those dates, if you count the guy that showed up completely drunk, or the other own that brought his own kid on their date and pretty much told her that he is looking for a stay at home mother for his son!

I could really see where she was coming from. As she got closer to her thirties, she got all stressed up about ending up alone. But this was too soon in her life to react like this. It’s not something I would do, so I didn’t relate to her fear, but I could play along. Zoe went from one stupid decision to another, believing low of herself and taking decisions about her life based on a daily quote an app would give her. There were times that I wanted to tell her to wake up and stop wasting her life with people that do not treat her the way she deserves! Eventually, she did wake up and I was glad she took her own advice.

All the dating thing seems to be a big part of the book, so I could do with a bit more details or funny dating stories. It seemed that this part was a bit brief for my liking. I did enjoy the gym part and I liked that Zoe got this habit of daily exercising, as well as the fact that she made an actual friend there. Her life seems to be very lonely so a friend like Dani was a good addition to it.

Low self esteem was portrayed very well I have to say. The reader can easily see what Zoe is doing. putting up with a person she shouldn’t because she is afraid she would end up alone for the rest of her life. And I’m pretty sure many readers will relate to this part, while others will be on her back, asking why she is not following her own advice and dump the guy!

Overall, it was a fast and funny read, one that can be relatable to many!
