This book wasn’t exactly what I thought after reading the synopsis. Told in two perspectives and jumping from current time to the past to walk us through what happened. The book was a quick read and was fast paced. Twisty enough without having too much, just when you thought you knew he story there was ape thing new going on.
You never truly know who you’re married to.
The Perfect Father is an excellent thriller,Esther is married to Robin who seems to be the perfect father ! to Riley their daughter Robin stays at home to look after Riley while Esther goes to work, but dark secrets lie beneath the surface of Robins perfect life and soon Esther realises that she doesn't know her husband as well as thought. While it is an excellent thriller i wouldn't say it had me gripped from the first page, it was more a slow burner kind of book which did keep me wanting to know more.I would certainly recommend this book for fans of this genre and overall it was a good 4 star read.
A house husband - perfect - you would think. A tale of twisted, complex lives. How perceptions we imagine of someone can change in an instant when we meet them. Perfect lives are not always how they first appear.. Gripping story which tells of many challenging things. Bravery in the face of great adversity.
Absolutely nothing is as it seems in this book. Robin is the perfect father and seems to be the perfect husband to new mum Esther. Then Robin and Riley (baby) disappear one day, and Esther finds a new side of her loving husband... Highly recommended!

Great book, loved the characters the writing was good a little hard to follow at times but was easy to figure out and catch on....
I wasn’t sure when I started this book and was tempted to change my mind and read something else. I’m glad I stuck with it as it was a twisty tale.
Seemed simple Esther is married to Robin and they have three year old daughter Riley. Robin is a stay at home dad but nothing ends up as what you think.
Told in alternating viewpoints of Robin and Esther as well as in both the past and the present. It seems he’s not the perfect father as the title suggests but it’s worth the read to find out why.
I loved the characters and the gradual emergence of the truth. It even had one of my favourite things where you have to reread a page as what you’ve read changes everything you believed.
Thanks to Quercus books and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
It took me a while to really sit down and get into this book despite the interesting opening line of “Sorry” which was the text sent by the husband to his wife about taking their child. Once I did get into the book, I was hooked and finished it in a few hours. Lots of twists! I completely changed my opinions about the main characters multiple times. I liked the switching back and forth from different POV as it really showed how easy it is to misinterpret conversations. I do feel like the author was trying to make me feel sympathetic for both Robin and Esther at points but both of them were very complicated characters that I didn’t really like for most of the book. What I loved about the book the most is that it kept me guessing at the outcome at so many points. Just when I had decided I knew what happened, there would be another twist in the story. I also liked that the book gave insight into pregnancy issues. Definitely a 4 star read! It kept my attention throughout and I liked the ending even if it did seem a bit too perfect.
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book. I found it very confusing. The storyline leapt between the past & present & it was hard to figure out what was happening. The characters were unlikeable & weren't credible. overall it started well but failed to keep up the expectations I had for it.
Robin sends his wife a text that says Sorry while driving. He has thier 2 year old daughter with him.. This is a pretty confussing read. But good . #QuercusBooks ,# Netgally.# ,Charlotte Ducuworth.
I got confused with the way the story switched between the past and present, and I didn't like the characters so I gave up on the book. This one isn't for me

Esther and Robin are happily married and have a young daughter. He is a stay at home dad while she works and earns a good living. All seems fine but one day Robin sends her a text saying "sorry" and disappears with their daughter.
3.5 stars.
This was a quick read. I thought some of the behavior exhibited by some of the characters was unrealistic and that sort of bothered me. There were some reveals that I definitely did not see coming and others that I did. Overall a decent read where things got wrapped up a little too easily.
Many thanks to @netgalley and @quercusbooks for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
Frankly, I have some mixed feelings about this one..
Esther and Robin are married and with the long awaited arrival over their daughter Riley, there dream of becoming a family comes true.
Esther has a good job and worked hard to get it. Robin is a struggling comedian. With the birth of their daughter, Robin suggests to become a stay at home dad so Esther can continue her career and provide financially. Robin is doing a top job caring for his daughter but, as the story continues, we learn that not all is what it seems and Robin certainly isn't the perfect father...
Thing is, I got rather confused and slightly frustrated by the way the story switched between past and present, mainly in the first part of the book. I had no clue where the story was heading. At one point there was a major and unexpected plot twist that I did not see coming. In itself that's a good thing but, the revelation really made me dislike most of the characters.
I guess that's my main issue with this book. I found it difficult to connect with any of characters. Didn't understand their choices, lack of communication and honesty.
So, all in all I would describe this a twisty psychological thriller which will make your head spin. Unfortunately it just wasn't really for me.
Took me longer than usual to finish this book .... but wait!!..... this was due to the chaos that December brings - not the book!!
Fantastic read....... definitely read this one if you love a book that keeps you guessing and discovering things that you didn’t even expect to happen,

Esther loves her job so after having a difficult pregnancy was relieved when her husband Robin offered to put his career on hold to look after their daughter Riley. On arriving home from work one day Esther finds that both her husband and daughter are missing and the police are called. Once the police start making investigations it becomes clear that all is not as it seems and dark secrets are uncovered.
The story is told by both Esther and Robin and shuffles between past and present which unveils a very different picture to the one most people see.
The characters are very strong but not likeable but nevertheless make interesting reading. Nicely written with lots of twists and turns some of which I saw coming but a good read.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Quercus Books for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
The Perfect Father wasn’t quite the thriller I was expecting but more domestic suspense. It was though a good read.
Robin and Esther are happily married and have been trying for a baby for a while, Esther amazingly becomes pregnant but with it comes sickness to such a drastic degree she can’t even move her head before vomiting. Robin is the perfect husband looking after her. Esther staters taking tablets and is well enough to attend her best friends party for a short while but while there sees something she wishes she hadn’t and makes her question everything.
This book is told by various characters and various timelines which works well in this book. You definitely start off cheering for one character but by the end have definitely switched sides.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Quercus Books for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.
This was a definite 5* read for me! Utterly gripping with fast pace an d great charter development.
The story starts with Robin, ‘the perfect father’ taking 2 year old daughter Riley away with only an apologetic text ‘sorry’ sent to wife, Esther.
We are then taken to a timeline, some three years earlier, where Esther discovers that after a long battle with infertility, she is pregnant.
I cant say much more for fear of ‘spoiling’ the story, all I can really say is that a lot goes on between these timelines, with the marriage between Robin and Esther appearing increasingly dark and twisty as the story goes on.
Great characters, gripping plot and jaw-dropping twists make this one utterly unputdownable thriller!!
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
Absolutely loved this book, loved the way it was written so I knew the ending . The story went back and then in the present to reveal a brilliant story that unfolded . Best book I’ve read in a while , very well written . Will be looking for more from this author
Wow, what a thrilling rollercoaster ride of emotion. Every family has secrets but Robins takes the cake on that one. The dual story told by both Ester and Robin gives the story a rich context and embroils you in the turmoil of the small family dynamic. Excellent page turner, I couldn't put down.
I received an ARC copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. Esther is driving home from work when she receives a text from her husband, Robin, that just says "sorry". She gets home and her husband and two year old daughter are both gone. I really didn't like either of the main characters and I felt like the book just kept going back and forth in so mant6 timeframes that it was confusing.
It is more a family drama story, than a thriller. I did not like the Now-Then, it was a bit hard to connect with the story, but in the end, I got it. Everything you read is not what it seems it is really complicated. Esther is getting a strange message from her husband, Robin: ""Sorry"'. From that moment the action begins.
Thank you Netgalley for this book.
