Interesting take about mid-life and the lessons one can learn from it - especially toward how to live one's best life by being true to one's own self along the way. Funny at times, it's a good read and exposition to the author's life
I have never heard of Amy Schmidt, but I was interested in her book after reading the synopsis. She is my age so I wanted to find out what she had to say about women who are middle aged. She writes with candor and laughter. Her book is a combination commentary on life occurrences, lists to assist, and stories from her life. Some things I read with interest, others I skimmed over. I Agreed with some of her observations, and others I didn’t. I do look for fresh outtakes on life, especially from women who are around my age. It’s an amusing read and worth diving into.
I read this having never heard of Amy Schmidt. It seemed like it would be a humorous, fun read. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I really like Amy. Her story telling is friendly and conversational. She writes intimately about life events, and follows each story up with relatable advice on how to cope and thrive through the ups and downs of life. Her tone is practical and kind, rather than preachy.
I enjoyed this a bunch! I subscribed to Amy’s podcast before I even finished the book.
Influenced by her podcast series and her blog, Amy Schmidt wrote this book as encouragement for women in or past midlife.
Amy's lively, down-to-earth tone full of personal stories to demonstrate that all women can gain confidence and realize their dreams however small or big. She encourages women to take a look at their lives, step out of the comfort zone, and venture into new areas
. Each section ends with practicable advice or reflection. It is a positive book which is helpful for any female wanting to create their own life
“Cannonball!” is a book for those who are, like me, facing the Big 5-0. It’s about jumping into life (if you aren’t already swimming). It’s about taking risks, not taking yourself too seriously and for making sh!t happen that you’ve put off for way too long. Especially if you feel like you’re drowning.
Author Amy Schmidt comes across like a smart, funny, approachable girlfriend. And she writes with humility and honesty. This is part memoir and part self-help—a fun and easy read. It’s not too long as it goes quickly with little nuggets on how to embrace your age, your size and your current standing in life.
Amy shares her personal stories throughout and inspires us to face 50 and beyond with grace. Who knows!?! She just might inspire you to skinny dip your way into your midlife!
