I’ve read a few of Kate Forster’s books but this wasn’t one of my favourites. I couldn’t really gel to the storyline and there were a lot of characters to follow through their stories and remember what related to who. I thought the story towards the end with the dog was a bit unnecessary. Didn’t take me long to read. I would look out for another of Kate’s books. Thank you for accepting my request.

The story follows the life of Laurie, a woman who has faced her fair share of heartbreaks and disappointments. After losing her job and ending a long-term relationship, Laurie decides to start anew in Merham, a quaint seaside town where her grandmother once lived. There, she moves into Mermaid Terrace, a beautiful but rundown property with a lot of potential.
As Laurie begins to settle into her new life, she meets a cast of quirky and endearing characters who quickly become her friends. Among them is Nine, an enigmatic and handsome gardener who helps Laurie bring Mermaid Terrace back to its former glory. As they work together, sparks fly, and Laurie finds herself falling for Nine, despite her reservations about love and relationships.
The novel delves into Laurie’s journey of self-discovery and healing as she navigates the complexities of her past while opening her heart to new possibilities. Alongside her personal growth, the community of Merham plays a significant role, with its tight-knit and supportive nature providing a sense of belonging and home for Laurie.

Lovely feel good book to read. It was a joy to read. Lovely characters. Great plot. The book was charming. Very well written. I’d definitely recommend this book
The story was written in a way that didn't really 'gel' for me. It was very telling, hopped all over the place (too many POV characters), and everyone loved Tressa, when she didn't seem that adorable to begin with... It just felt a bit lacking in plot and action and just read too telling for me to really be able to enjoy it
Thoroughly enjoyable story, as I have come to expect from Kate Forster.
I loved my time spent in Port Lowdy, and seeing how Tressa is integral to the community there.
She is much loved and not aware of her own talents. She has a complicated dynamic with her family which was pleased to see was explored.
Meanwhile she hires The Angriest Man in Ireland to be a reporter on the local paper, while Caro is being treated in hospital for the Big C. And let's say sparks fly!
Nothing is simple between the pair of them, but I loved getting to know Dan.
No only Dan but we also get a fair amount of Penny's story and Remi's too, so get a real feel for the characters in this charming Cornish village.
Was a very pleasurable story to read.
Thank you to Aria and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
A lovely lighthearted read in my favourite part of the country, I am always a sucker for small coastal town stories and I enjoyed this one. Tressa and Dan made good main characters and i loved the way they blossomed in the story. Perfect light beach read

I have loved all Kate Forster stories that I've read so far, and this was no exception. From the beautiful cover to the comforting title, reading this book was like curling up on the sofa with a blanket and a cup of hot chocolate. Funny, witty, cute, and a thoroughly enjoyable read. "Even a nun would have a little squirm if she was sitting opposite that man". I look forward to the next one!
I was given a copy of Find love at Mermaid Terrace by Kate Forester by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I have read other books by this author. The book is set in Devon, Tressa must find another reporter after her bosses wife is taken ill. Dan comes along. Both have issues, Dan was brought up by foster families and lacks trust, Tressa finds it hard to connect with her family. A typical romance. We written, with lovely characters. A nice easy read.
I fell in love with the cover and then I fell in love with the story that made me smile and root for the characters.
An engrossing and heartwarming plot, great setting, likable and realistic characters.
I can't wait to read the next book by this author.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
This is a super fun read. I really enjoyed this one!
Many thanks to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
Tressa enjoys her quiet life in port-Lowry as a photographer and painter until one day she hires an editor for their local news
And it turns out to be Dan , the angriest man in Dublin who just recently got fired from his job.
I loved the storyline of this one and how natural the relationship between the villagers form.
I loved seeing the development of the characters like Dan himself turning from the angriest man to one who shows affection also Tressa’s mother who goes from a selfish mother to someone open to her daughter
As much as I liked it, I thought it was too long which made me kinda lazy to finish it but the ending was definitely worth all the wait
It was everything I dreamed of.
I give a 4⭐️ Star and I’d recommend it to anyone who likes slow burning love story 🤍
I’m becoming a fan of this author book. This was good. Really enjoyed this story. I will read more. Go read

I was given a complimentary copy of this book. Thank you.

This story gave me all the summer beach vibes. I loved the small beach town vibes going on in this book as well as the colorful cast of characters, main and side characters. With everything that's been going on in the world over the last during this pandemic, I find myself drawn to books lately that have a lighter tone to the story. I love romance books like this because it still has heart, it still has depth and opportunity for the characters to come into their own and learn something new about themselves while they also have lighthearted moments that inspire hope for a bright future ahead filled with love and laughter. I love romance stories that feature pet lovers, especially dog lovers, so that was fun to see. If you're looking for a sweet romance story that's full of heart and great moments of growth for the characters, than this is a book for you. A fantastic read when you're looking for some escapism.
This is my first summer style read this year and it made me so eager and ready for it to arrive. I adore Cornwall so this was a great bit of escapism for me whilst we are all stuck in our own little neck of the woods. Cute characters, nice story and a lovely light read.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
A lovely easy read, especially curled up on the sofa on a cold, wet day. I loved all the characters & found myself yearning to be in Port Lowdy, such a friendly little place & even better next to the sea. Highly recommend & cannot wait for this authors next tale
A very nice feel good book. A story line that involves more than 2 characters and a few different story lines. I found this a very easy read very enjoyable and I have been left wanting more. It is a romantic book with twists and turns and the romance come in pleasant surprises just where you don't expect it. There are also tear to shed but many more smile to be had. Tressa Buckland loves art and is a person who likes her own company but then she meets people who she finds she enjoys the company of. And there the story grows. The story spends it time on a group of people and how their lives entwine with each other and how things turn out for them all.
Well worth the read
A decent cozy escapist romance. Port Lowdy seems like a lovely place to live. I didn’t care much for Penny or her story and feel like the whole book could have done without it, but overall a relaxing read until some very sad stuff happened. Kind of ruined the mood.
