Blackburn has given readers another amazing story full of suspense, keeping readers on their toes til the very end. I love her writing style and cannot get enough of her stories.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This story was unpredictable and riveting from beginning to end. I always enjoy the start to a new series and getting to know main characters and their side stories. I can’t wait to read more in this series!
I have read most of Lynn Blackburn’s books and this one was just as amazing! I really liked Luke and Faith and their job professionalism, friendship, and later chemistry. They both worked extremely hard to keep their co-workers and teammates alive all while actively trying to find answers. They both have past grief to work thru, but with the help of others and their faith; they both begin to heal and look forward to the future.
I truly can’t say enough good things about this story and team! Secret Service, FBI, bombings, burnings… oh my! This clean Christian fiction story had a good steady pace filled with drama and suspense, interesting and relatable characters. I found myself holding my breath wondering what was going to happen next.
I really enjoyed it and I will definitely be reading this book again! I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
After three U.S. Secret Service agents from the same small office have been killed, U.S. Secret Service Agent Luke Powell and FBI Agent Faith Malone joint forces to find who is responsible. I really enjoyed the suspense and the fast-paced dialogue of this book. Additionally, learning more about the Secret Service Agency was an added plus. A great new addition to the Romantic Suspense Genre! A five-star read. #UnknownThreat #NetGalley
Unknown Threat is a great start to Lynn H Blackburn's Defend and Protect series. I liked it. Four and a half stars.
Awesome read!
I have loved all of Lynn Blackburn's books, and the start to this new series is no exception! The characters are so real, and the suspense fast-paced. I can't wait to read more from this series!
This author is definitely on my favorites list.
*I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions are my own.
Loved this book. I was totally immersed from the first page through the quick look at the next book and I can't wait to read more.
You're gonna need a few tissues but the story of Luke and Faith find their way to one another while investigating the most important cases of their careers, if not their lives. Someone is literally picking off secret service agents from Luke's office one agent at and time and Faith has to find who it is and why. She has to do it before another one gets killed. Or she does.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Unknown Threat was nearly unputdownable and I loved it! I'm a huge fan of suspense novels that keep you engaged and this was such a great read.
The characters were nice and I don't remember anything I didn't like about this story. I've read and enjoyed other books by this author, so I'm definitely looking forward to her next release.
All in all, I recommend Unknown Threat if you like romantic suspense.

It took me a while to get to this book as I think I was in a chic-lit vortex and needed a hand to get out of it. This was certainly a good hand. I read it in only a couple of sittings and was capitvated by what was going to happen and if they were going to catch the culptrits and how they would get a break in the case.
It is classed as Christian Literature and I don't think I've eveer read any books in this genre that feature murder, FBI and secret services. It was interesting. I didn't find that the 'Christian' content was too intrusive but I also didn't find it was necessary. It felt almost an add on to the story that could easily have not been there and it wouldn't have detracted from the story - that's just my opinion though.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
When Secret Service agents are targeted FBI special agent Faith Malone is put on the case. Luke Powell is one of the Secret Service agents targeted and almost killed in a sniper/bomber attack. As more attacks occur and more agents are wounded or killed they have to race against the clock with the few members of his team that are left to try and stop an invisible killer. Very fast paced and full of action and suspense. You also reconnect with some members of the Dive Team Investigation series from a few years ago.
Unknown Threat is the first book that I’ve read by Lynn H Blackburn that I’ve read but it won’t be the last. I loved the strong heroines and the fast paced as well as more suspense than romance.
Non stop action and swoon worthy romance this book has it all and is a real page-turner! I thoroughly enjoyed where the plot took me and was totally immersed in this book
This was a great balance of suspense and romance. I really appreciated that the romantic tones were there most of the book and not just toward the end.
I also liked how even the romance had tension. It really added nicely to the tension of the book in general. It had a little bit of an enemies to more vibe even though the only thing that brought that on was his aversion to the FBI.
I really enjoyed the secret service members in this book. It was neat to read about a different aspect of service. Luke wasn't perfect but he definitely had his swoon worthy moments.
I loved Faith. She was definitely a workaholic, but I loved her discipline and ethics.
Spoiler
I'll admit I was not thrilled with all of the moments with Faith's mom. I could have done without those.
Overall this was a good read and I would look forward to more from this series.
I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. This is my honest review.

I am reviewing a copy of Unknown Threat through Revell and Netgalley:
First of all let me say that if you are looking for a book full of action and suspense, one that will keep you on your toes Unknown threat definitely fits that bill., and if you are looking for a taste of romance it has that too.
Luke Powell is a US Secret Service Special Agent who is lucky to be alive. He has had three of his special agents die in unusual circumstances in the past ten weeks. Luke is devastated by the loss of his friends and colleagues, and his inability to locate the killer feels like a personal failure. He's an expert at shielding others, but now the protectors are in need of protection and Luke isn’t used to having to rely on others.
Special agent Faith Malone is an FBI agent who is driven to succeed, she is confident in her ability to solve every case she's assigned. She was put in charge of the investigation into the unprecedented attacks, and with Luke's life in danger, the stakes have never been higher. But it's hard to know how to fight back when you don't know who the enemy is.
As more agents are targeted, Luke and Faith will have to work together to bring a killer to justice and prevent any more names from joining their fallen brothers and sisters on the Secret Service Wall of Honor.
I give Unknown Threat five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!
This is the first time reading a book by this author, so I didn't really know what to expect. I must say I really enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and easy to read. It kept my interest throughout. I highly recommend this book and will be looking for other books by this author.
I am new to author Lynn Blackburn and she did not disappoint. My only issue with the book came toward the end when David and Ma Chi Father's scenes happened. I didn't feel they were in depth enough nor did the author elaborate on that story enough. There was so much build up and suspense and then when you find out the why's and what happened, I was disappointed.
Faith and Luke were amazing characters. I loved Faiths love and passion for her work as an FBI agent as well as her love for Luke and her sister Hope.
I enjoyed how everyone's stories intertwined and I hope that we continue to see stories about the other Secret Service agents.
Overall a great read. I recommend.
I have loved every Lynn Blackburn book I have ever picked up. She always leaves me wanting more adventure!
This is a book that makes me wonder why we don't just publish all of the books in a series at the same time. Logically, I know why, but my heart wants more more more! Lynn has such a distinct gift for giving us unique characters. I wish I had more time with all of them!
This is a mind blowing suspense that gives an unparalleled intensity from the first pages. Just when you think nothing else can go wrong, you get another shock to your system. The pace is perfect and the characters believable. The twists and turns will keep your heart pounding, you hands page-turning, and your brain trying to anticipate what will happen next. Oh, and did I mention that romance? WHEW, Lynn can do it all. Not too hot, not too cold... the simmer of love throughout is just the right temperature to come out perfect at the end. I would definitely recommend this book to my romantic suspense loving friends. I can't wait for the next one!
I received a copy of this book digitally via NetGalley. I also pre-ordered a copy from Baker Book House. I read and reviewed this book voluntarily, and all opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
Okay, I'm already in love with this series! Blackburn draws you into the story with instant action and I couldn't put it down after! I finished this one in a record time because I just had to keep reading! I absolutely loved both of the main characters, Luke and Faith. They were so good together, and the slow-burn romance was just right for their story! The suspense is high and keeps you guessing and I had no idea how the story was going to end! Highly recommend checking out this series debut and I am on the edge of my seat for book two! (Tip: don't read the sneak peek chapter for book two! You'll regret it!)
Interesting plot and characters, but had a convoluted ending
When I saw that Lynn H. Blackburn had a new book out, Unknown Threat (Defend and Protect, Book 1), I wanted to read it because I had enjoyed her earlier novel Beneath the Surface.
Unknown Threat’s plotline sounded intriguing. US Secret Service Special Agents Luke Powell and Zack Thacker went out for an early morning run and when they return to their vehicles suddenly, they are under fire. As they are lying on the ground looking at their vehicles, they realize that their cars are wired with bombs. Will they survive until help comes? Who in the world is trying to kill them and for what reason? FBI Special Agent Faith Malone has been assigned to investigate these attacks and try and protect the remaining US Secret Service team in Raleigh.
This fast-paced story drew me in from the beginning. Interesting to think about how people who risk their lives to protect others might respond when they are targeted? I liked the character Luke Powell and the US Secret Service team, their friendships, and their commitment to one another.
I didn’t quite connect with Faith Malone, she seemed more like a caricature of a tough single woman who sacrificed her personal life for career advancement. The repeated Cherry Coke references kind of got old. It was understandable why Faith might be attracted to Luke who was a decent nice guy, but I didn’t understand what he saw in her.
Faith’s sister Hope was a very likable and refreshing character. I would like to see her in future books of the Defend and Protect series. It was hard to understand how the character Special Agent Janice Estes kept her job. Was she incompetent or just plain corrupt? She wasn’t very believable.
While I liked many of the characters, I struggled a bit with the plotline. It was very convoluted and I don’t see how a reader would have been able to figure out the mystery. The story ended rather abruptly and if it hadn’t been for the last chapter summarizing whodunnit and why I don’t think I would have put the pieces together. Not sure that the motives of the bad guys were believable.
There wasn’t much about the Christian faith included in the storyline. But I did appreciate that there was no profanity or sexual immorality.
The good: likable characters and an interesting scenario. Not so good: the convoluted plot and ending and one of the main characters wasn’t very likable.
Would I recommend Unknown Threat by Lynn H. Blackburn? If you like Lynn’s books give this book a read. This is the first book in the Defend and Protect series and some of the characters will be carried over to future books.
I would like to thank Revell Publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of Unknown Threat by Lynn H. Blackburn. I was under no obligation to give a favorable review.
This is book one in the Defend and Protect series, what a great place to start. I can't wait for book two.
This book is full of mystery, suspense, friendship, romance and so much more.
US secret service special agent Luke Powell is tired of loosing his friends and running for his life. When he must trust the FBI, something that may be impossible for him. He must put aside his mistrust for the FBI and trust special agent Faith Malone.
Faith and Luke must overcome many things from their past all while trying to solve a fast-moving serious case.
This book is action packed. I loved Luke and his relationships with his fellow agents. I am hoping book two will focus on this group. I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion.
Lynn Blackburn has become one of my favorite authors in the Christian mystery/suspense genre. I loved the “Dive Team Investigations” series and hated to leave those characters behind. This book is a clear indication that this series is going to be every bit as intriguing as the “Dive Team” series.
The focus on this book is on FBI Special Agent Faith Malone and US Secret Service Special Agent Luke Powell. When someone begins targeting and attempting to kill secret service agents, Faith takes the lead on the investigation. Luke and Faith must learn to work together, but soon their regard for each other turns toward wondering if they could have a future together. But as the investigation grows more complicated and the danger to both of them quickly ramps up, their survival seems uncertain.
The characters in this book are believable and pull you into their personal stories. The storyline is intense from the very beginning of the book. I loved the twists that come along at just the right moment in the plot. This book is a page-turner and confirms this author’s place in the top tier of Christian suspense writers.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
